Jinx Gaming raises our spirits as well as the dead in their first-ever release, Dead Headz. Jinx Gaming is a fresh face within the iGaming industry and is also the latest to join Hacksaw Gaming’s OpenRGS platform, alongside Backseat Gaming & Bullshark Games.

While there is no information or official website for the new studio yet, we are filled with anticipation for what’s to come from Jinx Gaming, especially if the quality & creativity shown by other partner studios is anything to go by.

Finding your footing in a fiercely competitive industry is no small task for any new provider, especially when many established studios are fighting for the top spot, so it’s only natural that players may feel sceptical when taking a chance on the first-ever release.

Turning heads from the very first spin, Jinx Gaming skips the seasonal cheer & drops players straight into a flesh-eating, Zombie warzone. Playing as a lone survivor among the dead, Wild Multipliers erupt from the ground, each revealing Multipliers worth up to x20.

As you fight to stay alive on the reels, the Shoot & Loot Bonus puts your aim to the test as waves of Zombies surge towards you in a bid to tear you limb from limb. Each session is backed by a fixed RTP of 96.31%, a high volatility score, and a sizable 10,000x max win potential.

With the dead closing in and a colossal win potential on the line, each spin feels like the ultimate fight for survival…but will you escape with your life? Let’s find out…

Base Game & Features

Dead Headz is a highly volatile 5-reel, 5-row video slot with 19 fixed pay lines. Paytable symbols confirm wins for each spin when 3, 4, or 5 identical symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1.

The highest-paying symbol is the Red Zombie, followed by the Orange, Green, & Blue Zombies, plus A, K, Q, J, and 10 card suits. Once the reels settle, each winning combination will award a fixed payout between 0.1x and 25x your bet.

Wild Multipliers

Wild symbols appear on all reels during gameplay, substituting for all symbols except Scatters, with only 1 Wild symbol able to land per reel. When a Wild symbol connects to a winning pay line, a Multiplier between x2 and x20 is awarded, which applies to any win that passes through it.

Dead Headz: Shoot & Loot Bonus

Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatters anywhere in the base game triggers the Shoot & Loot Bonus, awarding the following outcomes:

  • 3 Scatters: Awards 6 Free Spins and a x1 Multiplier on all reels
  • 4 Scatters: Awards 6 Free Spins and a x5 Multiplier on all reels
  • 5 Scatters: Awards 6 Free Spins and a x10 Multiplier on all reels

During this mode, the Cylinder Reel spins, offering up to 3 Bullets. Bullets that land on the left will shoot at the nearest Zombie on the leftmost side. Otherwise, Bullets that land on the right will shoot at the nearest Zombie on the rightmost side. As expected, Bullets that land in the middle of the Cylinder aim for the Zombies in the middle.

When an entire row of Zombies is destroyed, an additional +1 Free Spin is awarded. At the start of each new wave, Zombies will spawn at the top of the reels, whilst all surviving Zombies move down by 1 row.

  • Blue Zombies: Reveal a random value between +1 and +20, which is added to the Meter above its reel
  • Green Zombies: Reveal a random value between +1 and +20, which is added to all 3 Meters
  • Orange Zombies: Award a random Multiplier between x2 and x20, which is added to its respective Meter
  • Red Zombies: Award a random Multiplier between x2 and x20, which applies to all 3 Meters

Once a Zombie reaches the player, the value of all 3 Meters is added together, multiplied by the total bet to determine the final outcome.

Our Honest Verdict

Dead Headz is not the most ambitious release you will ever see from Jinx Gaming, but given that this is their debut title, that is easy to forgive. Where it does deserve credit is in trying to bring something different to the table with its Shoot and Loot mechanic, which draws clear parallels to Shady Lady’s Black Friday Bonus round. And honestly, the comparison feels apt. There is very little difference between shoppers storming through the doors of Walmart for 50% off a blender and an actual zombie stampede.

The base game leans heavily on wild multipliers to generate excitement, with boosts of up to x20 capable of seriously inflating wins. That is where most of the standard play tension sits until the so-called Free Spins mode begins. In reality, this is not a traditional free spins feature at all. Instead, players face a relentless, perpetual wave of zombies where big wins are possible, but survival is not. Defeat is inevitable. It is just a matter of when, not if.

Zombie colour ties directly into rarity and whether values are additive or multiplicative, and the value of all three lanes is totalled at the end of each sequence, creating moments of genuine suspense when higher tiers appear. With a maximum win of 10,000x, Dead Headz lands in familiar territory for modern releases and is more than enticing enough to justify a spin, although you will need some serious firepower to reach it.

As a whole, Dead Headz stands as a praiseworthy first step from Jinx Gaming. It may not redefine the genre, but it shows a willingness to experiment, and that alone makes their future releases worth keeping a close eye on.
