We’re visiting the Triassic Town that delivered the most impressive dino Casino to meet the giant lizards of law enforcement, in Push Gaming’s latest release, Dino P.D.!

Dinopolis was released in 2021 as a slot themed upon the 90s TV show Dinosaurs, and it proved to be an exciting release. The fictional depiction of Vegas looked to be even better than the real Sin City, but how could it not with such distinguished dinosaur guests?

We still look upon Dinopolis fondly, but we’re excited to see what the sequel holds. At first glance it seems as if Push Gaming has decided to merge Dinopolis with another of their smash-hit games, but will this make Dino P.D more attractive? or will it alienate it from the original game?

Let’s find out.

Dino P.D Base Game and Features

Dino P.D. is a 5-reel slot with 20 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols (or 2 or more of the 3 highest-paying symbols) land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.

The minimum bet available here is £/€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.38% and a max win cap of 10,000x.

In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Red Dinosaur, followed by the Purple and Blue Dinosaurs. Medium-paying symbols fall to the Microphone, Gas, Walkie-talkie, and Handcuffs.

Low-paying symbols are the Red, Purple, Green, and Blue Donuts. Wild symbols substitute for all other symbols except the Dino Coin, Scatter, and Gamble Scatter symbols.

Ante Bet

Before you can begin spinning, you will be given the option to activate the Ante Bet feature. Activating this feature will increase your current bet by 20%.

Once active, there is a higher chance of landing Scatter symbols on reels 1 and 3, and a Gamble Scatter on reel 5, triggering the Free Spins round.

The RTP when using this feature with the Gamble feature is 96.16%, and the RTP for this feature without using the Gamble feature is 96.50%.

Dino Coins

During both the base game and Free Spins round, Dino Coins are Bet Multipliers that can appear anywhere across the reels.

All Dino Coins and their respective values are awarded when a minimum of 5 Dino Coins are in view across the reels. Each Dino Coin will land with a random Bet Multiplier of 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x, and 1,000x.

Dino P.D. Free Spins

During the base game, regular Scatters can only appear on reels 1 and 3, and the Gamble Scatter on reel 5 only. The Gamble Scatter is a special symbol that has a unique feature inside it that will spin through a selection of Free Spins Prizes.

Whenever 2 Scatter symbols land on reels 1 and 3, and the Gamble Scatter on reel 5, the Gamble Scatter will award one of the following Free Spins rounds.

• Bronze Free Spins with 0-1 Star – The Bronze Free Spins round awards between 8 and 10 Free Spins with 0-1 Low-paying symbol transformed into Dino Coins.
• Silver Free Spins with 2-3 Stars – The Silver Free Spins round awards between 8 and 10 Free Spins with 2-3 Low-paying symbols transformed into Dino Coins.
• Gold Free Spins with 4 Stars – The Gold Free Spins round awards between 8 and 10 Free Spins with 4 Low-paying symbols transformed into Dino Coins.

Gamble Feature

Once the Free Spins round is awarded, you will be given the option to Gamble your Free Spins for a higher Prize. A special Gamble Wheel will be presented to you with possible No Prize segments and higher Free Spins segments.

Before you spin the Gamble Wheel, there is an option for you to Collect the Free Spins already awarded, just in case you change your mind. Once you have committed, the Gamble Wheel will spin through the Free Spins and No Prize segments, landing on either one of them.

Winning the gamble means you win the next available Free Spins round, and the Gamble Wheel will present itself once again with the next available Free Spins round if there is one. The maximum number of successful gambles is four. After this, the Free Spins round will trigger.

During Free Spins, Dino Coin Collector symbols can land, which function the same way as Dino Coins during a win evaluation. Dino Coin Collector symbols are unable to land when all Low-paying symbols are transformed into Dino Coins.

All Dino Coin Collector symbols will be collected and stored in the Low Symbol Meter next to the reel set. When 4 Dino Coins are collected for a particular Low-paying symbol, it will transform all instances of that particular Low-paying symbol into Dino Coins.

Each Low-paying symbol that is transformed this way will award an additional +4 Free Spins and a x2 Multiplier value. The second, third, and fourth Low-paying symbols transformed will award +3, +3, and +2 Free Spins and a x3, x5, and x10 Multiplier respectively.

Dino P.D. Bonus Buy

Those outside the UK will benefit from a Bonus Buy option. Push Gaming has granted players access to 4 Bonus Buy options as follows.

Dino P.D: Our Verdict

Dino P.D is another entertaining look into the Dinopolis world, and this time around it feels as if there was some Big Bamboo inspiration.

The core of Dinopolis is still here, so fans of the original game won’t be disappointed with any dramatic overhaul that makes it unrecognisable. If anything, Push Gaming has found the best of both worlds here. It was quite a smart move to merge the two games into one, and if you ask us Dino P.D is much better than the original Dinopolis, and in some ways as good as Big Bamboo.

Dino P.D also shares some of what made Big Bamboo a gut-wrenching experience too. The dreaded gamble feature is enough to make you sick when you watch your free spins dwindle away, but where there’s risk there’s reward (potentially).

It’s probably better to just take whichever Free Spins you’re given if you’re prone to slot-induced sickness, and in fairness, we tested the lowest level bonus quite thoroughly, and it did deliver quite consistently.

When it comes to potential, Dino P.D looks quite attractive at 10,000x as a maximum win. Despite its similarities to Big Bamboo, the win potential isn’t quite as appealing. In fact, the original Dinopolis was dubbed to be more capable too, but for what it’s worth, Dino P.D is still quite appealing.

Overall, it feels like Dino P.D is a win for Push Gaming, Dinopolis and Big Bamboo fans. It has the classic Push Gaming stamp of quality, and a lot of what made both of the aforementioned games great, plus a little extra.
