Base Game & Features
Frank’s Diner is a highly volatile release from Relax Gaming, featuring 6 reels, 4 rows, and 4,096 ways to win. Winning combinations occur when 3-6 identical symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1.
The highest-paying symbol falls to Frank, followed by 3 Customers and a variety of Meats. Once a winning combination has been established on the reels, a fixed payout between 0.1x and 3x your bet is awarded.
Additionally, the game reveals 2 Wild symbols, in the form of BBQ Bottles, that substitute for all symbols except Scatters when part of a winning combination. Only the longest matching combination of each symbol is paid out.
Lastly, the Avalanche Feature will destroy all winning symbols from the reels, allowing new symbols to drop in from above and fill each empty cell position. This continues until no new winning combinations are available for that spin.
Split Symbols
During gameplay, when 2 or 3 instances of the same symbol fall within the same reel, they will consolidate into a double or triple split symbol, increasing the number of ways to win (excluding Wilds & Scatters).
This feature only occurs when 2-3 matching symbols fall upon the same reel, regardless of any win evaluations. Additionally, a random event may occur, which causes all consolidated symbols to be replaced with the highest-paying symbol. After this, regular base game spins resume.
Wild Symbols
Throughout spins, you will come into contact with 2 Wild symbols, available on reels 2, 3, 4, & 5. Wild symbols activate the Win Multipliers above reels 2-5, which appear as follows:
- Reel 2: x2 Multiplier
- Reel 3: x3 Multiplier
- Reel 4: x4 Multiplier
- Reel 5: x5 Multiplier
If multiple Wild symbols appear across the reels in a single spin, their respective Multipliers are added together before applying to the total win of the session. Finally, Gold Wilds generate a Respin, which contributes toward the Reel Multiplier, substituting for all symbols except Scatters & regular Wilds.
Respin Feature
The Gold Wild is responsible for triggering the Respin Feature, but only when it is part of at least 1 winning combination. Once active, all symbols within the winning combination are held in position, while the remaining symbols are removed & replaced with new ones, via an Avalanche event.
The Respin Feature continues as long as a new symbol lands within a cell position that contributes toward the winning combination. At the end of the Respin Feature, the total payout is calculated & applied before returning to the base game.
Win Boost
With each avalanche event, there’s a chance for a Win Boost to be awarded, up to 1 per spin. The Win Boost types available include:
- Symbol Boost:
- Guarantees a win
- Certain positions on the reels will be filled with the same symbol type
- Wild Boost:
- Guarantees a win with added Multipliers
- All empty cell positions from reels 2-5 will be filled with Wild symbols, while reels 1 & 6 will be filled with the same symbol type
- Results in multiple wins & active Wild Multipliers
- Gold Wild Boost:
- Triggers the Respin Feature

Frank’s Diner Free Spins
Triggering the Free Spins mode requires 3 Scatter symbols to land anywhere in the base game, awarding 10 Free Spins. In this mode, each Wild Respin that occurs will increase all Reel Multipliers by +x1, starting at x2, x3, x4, and x5 for reels 2, 3, 4, & 5, respectively.
Throughout Free Spins, each upgraded Reel Multiplier remains persistent until the end of the feature.
Bonus Buy
Players within permissible regions can purchase the Free Spins mode for an additional 60x their current bet. In the next spin, 3 Scatter symbols are guaranteed to land on the reels, awarding 10 Free Spins as standard (96.50%)
Our Honest Verdict
Frank’s Diner has an interesting concept, impressive pixel art, and a compelling cast of crooks & hooligans. All of this, plus an array of features, makes Frank’s Diner hard to ignore and impossible to forget.
It’s a pitstop you’d most likely pass at excessive speed – any glance in the rear-view mirror would be to make sure these greasy meatheads weren’t following you, but looks are deceiving, and Frank’s Diner, as it turns out, is quite a sought-after destination.
The base game is a nice taster of Frank’s extensive menu, revealing Split symbols that consolidate into double or triple variations of themselves. The Reel Multipliers & Respin Feature pack quite a punch, which both come together during Free Spins through Multipliers that increase & persist throughout the session.
Occasionally, gameplay can feel a little flat. Increasing the individual Reel Multipliers can be difficult, and without this increase, each Free Spin can feel like the base game. It’s a disappointing turn of events, especially when the game started strong, but you can’t help but feel that the Free Spins mode could have been tons better.
The only saving grace is the maximum win potential of 10,000x your bet, but whether Frank’s Diner can achieve such a figure remains to be seen. All in all, Frank’s Diner will wet your appetite for its potential & base game features, but it will leave you hungry in the Free Spins mode.
