Base Game & Features

Marlin Masters: Atlantis is a 5-reel, 4-row video slot, featuring a medium volatility (3/5) rating and 26 fixed pay lines. Paytable symbols trigger winning payouts when 3, 4, or 5 identical instances land on adjoining reels, starting from the leftmost. 

Paytable symbols are made up of 4 high-paying Fish icons and A, K, Q, J, & 10 card suits, with the Rainbow Fish acting as the highest-paying. Once the reels settle, each winning combination awards a fixed payout between 0.1x and 7.5x your bet. 

Other paytable symbols include Wilds and FS Scatters. Wild symbols substitute for all symbols as part of a win, whilst FS Scatters are responsible for triggering the Free Spins mode. 

Marlin Symbols & Lootlines

Throughout each session, Marlin symbols reveal Cash Prizes between 1x and 100x your bet once in view. Additionally, Lootlines are formed when a winning combination of Marlin or Jackpot symbols is present.

Lootline payouts are determined by the values of all Marlin and/or Jackpot symbols that are part of the winning combination. If a Marlin symbol’s value is too big for display, it will be shortened by two decimal places. 

Jackpot Marlin Symbols

Jackpot Marlin symbols reveal fixed Jackpot Prizes of Mini (25x), Major (100x), Mega (500x), and Max Win (10,000x). Following the same behaviour as regular Marlin symbols, Jackpot Prizes can only be awarded when part of a winning Lootline or when collected by a Fisherman symbol. 

Fisherman Symbols

When a Fisherman symbol lands in view, it collects the value of all Marlin symbols in the same spin. Furthermore, a Fisherman symbol may reveal a random Multiplier between x1 and x20, which is applied to the total value of collected Marlin symbols. 

If more than 1 Fisherman symbol (with or without Multipliers) lands in the same spin, each one will collect the value of all Marlin symbols individually. 

Kraken Collector

A Kraken Collector is a special symbol that appears only on reel 1. Once in view, it will expand to fill its entire reel, leaving only Marlin & Jackpot Marlin symbols in play during the Respin sequence. 

During Respins, all Marlin & Jackpot Marlin symbols will remain in view until the feature ends, with Jackpot Marlin symbols revealing their prize hereafter. Please note that Dead Fish symbols do not result in any pay line wins. 

Marlin Masters Atlantis: Free Spins

Triggering the Sunken Empire Bonus requires 3 FS Scatters to land in the same spin, awarding 10 Free Spins. 

This mode keeps the same mechanics as the base game, with the addition of a Progressive Trident Bar that is displayed above the reels. Each time a Fisherman symbol hits, the Trident Bar increases by +1 step. 

For every 5 Fisherman symbols collected, a new Upgrade Level is awarded:

Our Honest Verdict

Hacksaw Gaming aren’t always looking to reinvent the wheel with entirely new themes or characters. Instead, they’ve recently found purpose in expanding existing concepts through games that are part of an ongoing series, and Marlin Masters: Atlantis is another clear example of that approach. 

The core of each Marlin Masters release closely mirrors the Big Bass formula, with Fish symbols revealing Cash Prizes that depend on Fisherman symbols to collect and pay out their values.

In this version, Hacksaw Gaming leans into its Lootlines mechanic to handle most of the heavy lifting, especially when Fisherman symbols fail to turn up, allowing Marlin & Jackpot Marlin symbols to be collected and paid out in this way. 

One notable addition is the Kraken Collector, which introduces another way to cash in on Marlin prizes, but on a larger scale. It shares similarities with Blueprint Gaming’s King Kong Cash: Even Bigger Bananas franchise, where Collect symbols expand across the reels during a Respins sequence, but Kraken Collectors are not limited to specific reels.

Hacksaw Gaming has removed the Hidden Bonus in this release, which is surprising given its usual appeal. That being said, there’s still plenty of action across the two Free Spins modes, each offering a distinct twist in gameplay.
