Get ready to face a group of friendly extraterrestrials in Play’n GO’s latest release, Reactoonz 2, which promises to be bigger and better than the original.

After meddling in all things outta-worldy in Reactoonz, the iGaming industry went crazy for these adorable little beings, so much so that Play’n GO has beamed them back into our orbit for some more fun and excitement.

In Reactoonz 2, you’ll find many similarities to the original release, only with higher-quality graphics and a new set of statistics. This charming slot sequel shares the same aesthetics and vibrant colours, with little imagination displayed within the backdrop.

Don’t let that deter you from what really matters, and that’s matching up these little critters to create a cluster of winning sequences on the grid. Filling the chamber will result in a series of Modifiers, each bringing something unique to the grid.

The rewards don’t stop there, either. Filling the entire chamber with winning symbols will cause Gargantoon to work his magic on the grid. With a fixed RTP of 96.20% and a medium volatility score, can ‘Gargi’ whip up his max win cap of 3,000x your bet? Let’s find out.

Base Game & Features

Reactoonz 2 is a medium volatility release from Play’n GO, consisting of 7 reels, 7 rows, and a thrilling Cluster Pays mechanic. Winning clusters occur when 5 or more matching symbols fall horizontally or vertically adjacent to each other on the grid.

The original crew return for the sequel, represented by 4 one-eyed aliens and 4 two-eyed aliens, awarding payouts between 0.1x and 500x your bet. In addition, Wild Orbs substitute for all paytable symbols as part of a winning cluster.

Due to the nature of the Avalanche Feature, each winning cluster is removed and replaced with new symbols from above. This enables future winning clusters to occur within the same spin, with the opportunity to trigger additional Modifiers and Gargantoon.

Electric Wild

During gameplay, this particular Wild will not land on the grid like a traditional Wild symbol. Instead, they are created when the chosen symbol in the Fluctometer creates a winning cluster on the grid, and you will get one Wild for every cluster that the symbol creates.

Electric Wilds substitute for all paytable symbols, helping to create further wins. If the Electric Wild acted as part of a win, it would destroy the symbols and their instances from the grid.

If 2 or more Electric Wilds are present on the grid after this happens, then some different mechanics can trigger.

  • If 2 Wilds are adjacent to each other, then they will destroy every symbol on the grid, except for other wilds, which creates a new avalanche event.
  • If there are no winning combinations for the new avalanche, but 2 adjacent Wilds still exist, then they’ll destroy all visible symbols once again. This repeats until there are no more adjacent Wilds left.
  • If there are still Wilds on the grid, but none are adjacent to each other, 2 Wild symbols will be picked at random, and a line is drawn between them. All symbols in the path of the line will be destroyed.

Uncharged Wild

When Electric Wilds fail to activate on the grid, they transform into Uncharged Wilds. Until they activate, they become Blockers, taking up vital grid positions. To change their current state, a cluster win needs to occur, which includes an Uncharged Wild.

Fluctometer

The Fluctometer appears directly above the grid, displaying a random one-eyed alien as the fluctuating symbol. If the fluctuating symbol is part of a winning cluster, the Fluctometer will begin to charge, either by regular wins or Electric Wilds.

Once the meter reaches full capacity, it will award 1, 2, or 3 Electric Wilds in random grid positions.

Quantumeter

The Quantumeter returns The Energoon from the original Energoonz release. This meter is a special tool that summons the Gargantoon onto the grid, only after it’s been charged.

To do this, you will need Electric Wilds to complete winning clusters on the grid. Each symbol counts as 1 Charge in the meter, while there are 4 Levels to achieve:

  • Level 1: Requires 50 charges
  • Level 2: Requires 80 charges
  • Level 3: Requires 105 charges
  • Overcharge: Requires 130+ charges

Energoon Wild

Once the Quantumeter is filled to Levels 1 or 2, a special Energoon Wild is transferred to the grid. Even with Levels 1 or 2 active, the Quantumeter still requires additional charges to achieve.

Depending on which Level is active, a number of Energoon Wilds are placed on the grid:

  • Level 1: Awards 4 individual 1×1 Energoon Wilds
  • Level 2: Awards 2 individual 2×2 Energoon Wilds

Gargantoon

When you finally reach Level 3 of the Quantumeter, the Gargantoon Feature triggers. Overfilling the Quantumeter activates an ‘Overcharged‘ state, triggering a x2 Multiplier which applies to Gargantoon.

After activation, Levels 1 & 2 will trigger once again, in addition to Level 3, which awards a giant Gargatoon Wild (3×3) to the grid.

Our Honest Verdict

After finding the original Reactoonz a great comfort to play, we’re eager to see the additional Modifiers come to life in the sequel. Although Play’n GO has taken great strides to make Reactoonz 2 a lot more appealing, it still has its ’tilting’ moments throughout gameplay.

Filling each Quantumeter level requires a certain amount of precision…and a greater deal of patience. Thankfully, we’re kept entertained by Electric Wilds and the Fluctometer, but let it be known, the game does have its dull moments.

Furthermore, the game also delivers many moments of brutality. Imagine the disappointment of achieving Level 3 of the Quantumeter and it failing right at the last hurdle – don’t hold your breath or you may just pass out.

The Reactoonz instalments are probably the most mind-boggling and infuriating games we’ve come across to date, but we adore them in equal measure. Our only dispute is the max win cap of 3,000x your bet, which is surprisingly less than the original, but not by much.

All in all, Reactoonz 2 fills the shoes of the original with its exclusive Modifiers and Features, making it a staple choice for fans of the previous release. Where will Play’n GO take the series next, we wonder?
