Rise of the Genie Slot Review 2024
Get ready to go to head-to-head with another of iSoftBet’s unpleasant villians in their latest release, Rise of the Genie!
Most Genies, particularly those in fairytales and Disney movies are always portayed as the good guys willing to help those in need by granting them one wish, but it seems that iSoftBet are putting quite the spin on their Genie and not in a good way. We’ve seen the usual villians in iSoftBet’s Twisted Tale series but we never thought we would come across an evil Genie that’s for sure.
iSoftBet are trying their hand at the classic 3 reel slot but with quite a twist which certainly makes a nice change from the Hold & Win titles they’ve been mass producing recently, but will this be a change for the better? Rise of the Genie is equipped with 3 Prize Ladders, Instant Pays and a Cash Pot but watch out for that pesky Genie who can swoop in at any time and steal your hard-earned Prizes.
Have you got what it takes to become the Ultimate Gambler? Let’s play on and find out!
Rise of the Genie Base Game and Features
Rise of the Genie is a 3 reel slot with 5 fixed paylines. When it comes to forming winning combinations, Rise of the Genie works in a slightly different way to what we are used to.
In order to climb the Prize Ladders on the right of the reel set, you will need to land 2 or more of the same symbol types from left to right, starting from the left-most reel. There is also a Wild symbol present which substitutes for all symbol types and appears only on reel 2.
Rise of the Genie Prizes and Cash Pot
Depending on which winning symbol type lands in view, the total payout for that particular win will be added to to a Cash Pot which can either be Collected or Stored. At the bottom of the Prize Ladder is a chart that shows how many instances of each symbol is required for a win and how many steps you will climb up the Pay Ladder. These are as follows.
- 2 and 3 Red Flowers – Awards 3 and 4 Steps up the Pay Ladder respectively.
- 2 and 3 Blue Flowers – Awards 2 and 3 steps up the Pay Ladder respectively.
- 2 and 3 Green Flowers – Awards 1 and 2 step(s) up the Pay Ladder respectively.
- 2 and 3 Red Lamps – Awards 3 and 4 steps up the Pay Ladder respectively.
- 2 and 3 Blue Lamps – Awards 2 and 3 steps up the Pay Ladder respectively.
- 2 and 3 Green Lamps – Awards 1 and 2 step(s) up the Pay Ladder respectively.
- 2 and 3 Red Books – Awards 3 and 4 steps up the Pay Ladder respectively.
- 2 and 3 Blue Books – Awards 2 and 3 steps up the Pay Ladder respectively.
- 2 and 3 Green Books – Awards 1 and 2 step(s) up the Pay Ladder respectively.
Rise of the Genie Instant Pays and Genie Feature
In addition to the Cash Pot, Rise of the Genie has also been granted an Instant Pays pot which sits directly below the Prize Ladders and Cash Pot.
Instant Pays will become active once you reach the top of any one of the Prize Ladders, which will then display all Prizes inside the pot. Instant Pays must be collected by the player, either alone or with the Cash Pot. When activating Instant Pays, the following Prizes can be won on each step.
- Left Ladder – 2.5x your current bet per step and a Max Prize of 50x your current bet.
- Middle Ladder – 25x your current bet per step and a Max Prize of 500x your current bet.
- Right Ladder – 6x your current bet per step and a Max Prize of 120x your current bet.
Once the Instant Pays has been collected, all current steps acquired are reset at the start of each spin. Instant Pays can only be awarded on Prize Ladders which have already reached the top.
Genie Feature
During any random spin, the lamp will form an action and the Genie can appear either fully or partially in view.
If the Genie makes a full appearance and covers the entire reel set, he will reset all current Prizes on the Ladders including the Cash Pot and you are left with nothing.
Rise of the Genie: Our Verdict
Rise of the Genie isn’t quite what we were expecting in all honesty and depending on how you look at it, that could be a good or a bad thing. For us, it took a little while to wrap our heads around what was actually going on at first but once you start playing it all becomes quite clear and maybe a little boring?
It’s obvious that Rise of the Genie is not the easiest to understand or the most fun for that matter and some of you may even take one look at this and decide you would rather stick with what you know, but for those of you who like your slots free from complicated features then Rise of the Genie isn’t a bad choice.
Looking into statistics, Rise of the Genie shows us once again that it’s not really a slot for players who crave huge potential like NoLimit City titles for example, with a maximum win capacity of 500x but a rather surprising RTP of 96.46%. The maximum win capacity may not be enticing enough to some players, but for a slot with Medium Volatility, you can’t really complain.
