Rusty & Curly Slot Review 2024
Introducing Rusty & Curly, Hacksaw Gaming’s silliest funslingin’ characters in all the Wild West! Join them and their best friends Crispy & Chewy as they cause chaos on their way through the dirt roads of Dorkville.
Rusty & Curly is a fun-loving Wild Western slot that features loveable characters and cartoon animations, similar to that of Dork Unit. Along the way, we will come into contact with Almost Sticky Wild Posters, Stick to the Plan Free Spins, and Who Shot the Sheriff? Bonus.
Rusty & Curly Gameplay & Design
Rusty & Curly is another to squeeze into Hacksaw Gaming’s light-hearted slots collection, with its creative cartoon design and loveable characters. The characters seen here seem to tie in with Dork Unit, and the biggest clue is the destination to which they’re heading.
The Wild West theme is a lot like Marmite; you either love it or hate it, yet it’s by far one of the most popular themes in slots, alongside Fishing. To the left and right of the reel set is Rusty & Curly, however, we’re yet to find out if they play an important part in gameplay or if they’re just there to cheer us on.
Rusty & Curly is a 5-reel Video Slot, playable from £.€0.10 per spin, up to a maximum bet size of £.€100 per spin. Simply toggle through the available options until you find a bet that is suitable for you.
Rusty & Curly – Slot Symbols and Their Values
Rusty & Curly has 5 High-paying and 4 Low-paying symbols available throughout gameplay, with the highest-paying symbol producing wins of 10x your bet for a full 5-line win.
Low-paying symbols are standard A, K, Q, and J. Each low-paying symbol has the same pay value; 0.1x, 0.5x, and 1x your bet for a 3, 4, and 5-line winning combination.
Rusty & Curly – Paylines and How to Get Them
Winning combinations are created when 3-5 identical High or Low-paying symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. Win lines are formed across 14 active pay lines, in a Horizontal and Diagonal line sequence.
Rusty & Curly RTP and Volatility – Hot or Not?
Rusty & Curly has a theoretical RTP of 96.29% and a Medium Volatility level. Alternatively, certain Casinos may opt for a lower RTP level of 94.31% or 92.25%. Be sure to check which RTP level is available with your chosen Casino before you commit.
The Medium volatility level means that bigger wins may occur over a longer time frame, and are usually more frequent although typically lower. In addition, Rusty & Curly has a fixed max win cap of 10,000x your bet.
Rusty & Curly Special Features
In this part of the review, we will be taking a look at the Almost Sticky Wild Posters, as well as the Bonus Buy option.
During gameplay, special Posters can land with up to 3 Hearts, a random Multiplier, or both. Wild Posters with Hearts will remain on the reels, triggering Respins.
Each Respin will deduct 1 Heart from each Poster until there are none left. When no hearts remain, the next spin will remove the Wild Poster from play.
- Wild Poster Multipliers – x2, x3, x4, xx5, x6, x7, x8, x9, x10.
During each Respin, FS Scatters will be collected and held above the main reel set. If you manage to collect 3 or 4 during this time, you will enter 1 of 2 Free Spins rounds.
Bonus Buy
Those with access to Bonus Buys can participate in 1 of 4 Bonus Buy options from the following.
- Bonushunt Featurespins – 3x your bet.
- The Stick-Up Featurespins – 50x your bet.
- Stick to the Plan! – 100x your bet.
- Who Shot the Sheriff? – 300x your bet.
Online Slots UK are devoid of such options, however, both Free Spins rounds are available through regular gameplay.
Rusty & Curly Bonus Rounds & Free Spins
In true Hacksaw fashion, Rusty & Curly has 2 Free Spins rounds available; Stick to the Plan! and Who Shot the Sheriff? These are triggered when 3 or 4 FS Scatters land anywhere on the reels during the base game.
Stick to the Plan! Free Spins
Landing 3 FS Scatters in the base game triggers Stick to the Plan! Free Spins, where the grass is always dead and the girls are gritty! Upon entry, you will be awarded 6 Free Spins.
This round improves on base game features by increasing the chance of Wild Posters landing with a greater number of Hearts and bigger Multipliers.
During this round, Wild Posters can reveal a Multiplier of x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7, x8, x9, x10, x25, x50, or x100. While there is at least 1 Wild Poster present with a Heart on the reels, you will receive free Respins that do not detect off your total Free Spins.
Who Shot the Sheriff? Free Spins
Landing 4 FS Scatters in the base game triggers Who Shot the Sheriff? Free Spins, awarding 12 Free Spins divided into 3 individual cycles. When the bullets start flying, what’s the best thing to do? Start shooting more of course!
This round consists of a Collect and Payout phase which accumulates into one cycle; 1 Collect Phase spin and 3 Payout Phase spins. During the Collect Phase, Rusty, Curly, or both characters will expand into a Wild Reel.
They will then shoot between 1 and 6 times at all present Multipliers in view. The total value of all Multipliers shot at will be added to the Wild Reel during the Payout Phase.
The Payout Phase consists of 3 Spins with paying symbols. The Rusty & Curly Wild Reels become sticky, with their Multipliers carried over from the Collect Phase. At the end of the Payout Phase, the game returns you to the Collect Phase.
During the Collect Phase, Crispy & Chewy symbols may also land and expand into Wild Reels, but they do not have Multipliers and are not sticky. Landing 3 or 4 FS Scatters will award an additional +1 and +2 cycles respectively.
Pros and Cons of Rusty & Curly
Pros:
- Two exciting Free Spins rounds that have positive differences from each other.
- Great use of Multipliers that hold up to 3 Lives (hearts).
- Above average RTP and Medium Volatility level.
Cons:
- No additional Free Spins to be won during Stick to the Plan! Free Spins.
- Players in the UK cannot participate in the Bonushunt Featurespins located in the Bonus Buy section.
- Wild Reels are not available in the base game.
Conclusion
The Wild West theme is one of the most overused, with even Hacksaw capitalising on it with previous releases, like Wanted Dead or a Wild. Rusty & Curly is a far cry from the gritty undertone presented by Wanted Dead or a Wild, presenting a rather goofy theme instead. It’s loveable, and the gameplay has more of what makes Hacksaw slots loveable too, not to mention capable.
Hacksaw usually make a point of two different bonus rounds, and in some cases one can be an upgraded version of the basic bonus round. The two presented here are different, resulting in a varied gameplay experience.
Once again, the potential is noteworthy like others in the Hacksaw catalogue with a maximum win cap of 10,000x the bet.
Overall, we think Rusty & Curly does well to present a diverse gaming experience, but it’s not the biggest statement piece from Hacksaw.
