Base Game & Features

Ryze 2 is a highly volatile video slot with 6 reels, varying rows, and a Cluster Pays mechanic. Paytable symbols form winning combinations when at least 5 land horizontally or vertically adjacent to each other.

The Red Gem is the highest-paying symbol, followed by Purple, Green, & Blue Gems. Lower-paying symbols include Bronze, Silver, & Gold Coins. After each spin, all winning combinations award payouts between 0.05x and 10x your bet.

Additionally, all symbols in a cluster win are removed from the grid via an Avalanche Feature, allowing new symbols to fill the remaining gaps for further winning sequences. Gravity pulls the symbols to the left and right, as far downwards as possible.

Multiplier Wild

After a winning cluster is formed, each participating Multiplier Wild will have its value increased by +x1 before moving to an empty position once the Avalanche Feature occurs. If multiple Wilds with active Multipliers are part of the same win, their values will merge into a new value before being applied to the winning cluster.

Coin & Burst Symbols

When a Coin appears, it reveals a random Cash Value times your bet. During gameplay, if a cluster of 5+ Coins is formed, their accumulated value is added together and awarded. After this, the total value is added to a new Coin symbol left behind once the cluster is removed.

Alternatively, the Burst symbol acts as a Blocker that activates at the end of a spin. Once active, it transforms itself and adjacent symbols within an allocated area into Coin symbols, each receiving a random Cash Value.

Please note that Bonus Scatters, Burst, Coin, and Multiplier Wild symbols are not affected by this outcome. If more than one Burst symbol is visible on the grid, they each activate simultaneously, one after the other.

If a Burst symbol activates adjacent to a dormant Orb, it will automatically power up.

Orb Overload Feature

If all 6 Orbs are powered in a single game session, the Orb Overload Feature will trigger at the end of the spin. Once active, the powered Orbs trigger individually, each performing a random Orb Power, which occasionally has no effect.

• Spawn Wild: Selects an empty position or a random symbol that is not part of a win, and converts it into a Multiplier Wild
• Spawn Greater Wild: Transforms either an empty position or a single paytable symbol that is not part of a win into a Multiplier Wild with an increased value
• Empower Wild: Chooses a Multiplier Wild from the grid and doubles its current value
• Spawn Coin: Selects either an empty position or a symbol that is not part of a win, and converts it into a Coin with a random value
• Symbol Shift: Picks a random type of symbol and converts all instances on the grid into a higher-paying symbol type
• Spawn Burst: Transforms an empty position or a paytable symbol that is not part of a win into a Burst symbol

Ryze 2: Free Spins

Triggering the Free Spins mode requires a Bonus Scatter to reach the bottom of the reel set, awarding 7 Free Spins.

During this mode, Multiplier Wilds remain on the reels until the end of the feature. Additionally, the current mode can be upgraded to Super Free Spins if a Super Scatter reaches the bottom of the reel set. However, having a standard Bonus Scatter reach the bottom awards an additional +3 Free Spins.

Super Free Spins

Once the Super Free Spins mode is triggered, an additional +7 Free Spins is awarded. In this mode, Multiplier Wilds will remain on the reels until the end of the feature, while each spin begins with an Orb Overload.

X-iter

Players may purchase any of the following X-iter features:

• Bonus Hunt: Each spin is 4 times more likely to trigger the Bonus or Super Bonus mode for 2.5x your bet
• Mega Bonus Hunt: Triggers a spin with 8 times the chance of triggering the Bonus or Super Bonus mode for 5x your bet

Ryze 2 has a maximum win capacity of 10,000x your bet. If a single session achieves this figure, the player returns to the base game with the qualifying amount.

Our Honest Verdict

ELK Studios has kept Ryze 2 fairly anchored to the original concept, preserving not only its mechanics but its statistical aspects. While this familiarity is noticeable and appreciated, the sequel benefits from new features that place it more in line with the Cygnus series.

Coin Prizes were already available in Ryze, but this game finds greater momentum through the collection of Orbs and their power-ups. This welcome addition adds a higher layer of volatility and engagement to gameplay.

The triggering mechanics have also been fairly adjusted. Keyholes are no longer part of the equation, with Bonus Scatters only needing to reach the lower section of the grid. More importantly, the requirement to land a Bonus Scatter within a designated Super Keyhole has also been eliminated, making the Super Free Spins mode feel more accessible and less restrictive.

These adjustments, whilst subtle, represent the kind of refinement we’ve come to expect from a sequel release. That being said, it is slightly disappointing that the statistics, particularly the 10,000x max win, didn’t receive the same treatment. All in all, Ryze 2 improves where it matters most, even if the numbers remain firmly rooted to the original Ryze release.
