In Shady Lady’s latest release, Sew, our vision of such warm memories are about to be sullied by a crazed old lady with a deadly talent for creating ‘unique’ garments using unusual textures and materials. With true crime fanatics buzzing after the release of Netflix’s latest Ed Gein series, Shady Lady couldn’t have timed the release of Sew any better.
As you study this little old lady at work, you’ll soon notice that all is not what it seems. With a dark glare in her eyes and a shadow between the stitches, it’s clear that there’s something more sinister going on…
Shady Lady takes hold of that fear and spins it into a world of twisted threads and torturous tension. Those brave enough to spin the reels are at risk of becoming another accessory to hang in her wardrobe – perhaps a pair of gloves to keep those skilled hands warm in the cold?

Base Game & Features
Sew is the latest Horror-themed slot release from Shady Lady, consisting of 5 reels, a 4-5-4-5-4 row configuration, and 1,600 ways to win. Paytable symbols award winning combinations when 2-5 matching symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1.
The highest-paying symbol is the Cake, followed by the Biscuit Tin, Glass of Teeth, Mug of Blood, and a variety of Sewing Patterns. When a winning combination is awarded, a fixed payout between 0.1x and 1.5x your bet is applied.
Additionally, Wild symbols, in the form of Teddy Bears, appear on all reels and substitute for all paytable symbols when completing a win. When 5 Wild symbols are part of the same win, they award a payout of 1.5x your bet.
Hot Zones
Randomly, in a base game spin, the Hot Zone Feature may trigger. Once active, a random number of Hot Zones are added to multiple cell positions of the reel set. Each Hot Zone will reveal one of the following actions:
- Blanks
- Multipliers
- Wilds
- Multiplier Wilds
If a winning combination includes a paytable symbol with an active Multiplier, its value is applied to the symbol count when the payout is evaluated.
Sew Bonus
The Hold & Win Bonus is triggered when 3 Scatters appear in the same base game spin, awarding 3 Respins. This mode removes all paytable symbols, leaving only Blanks, Body Parts, & Special symbols in play.
During Respins, if 1 or more Body Parts or Special symbols appear in view, they will remain in their current position until the end of the feature, resetting the Respins Meter to 3. Body Part symbols reveal a random Coin Prize, which is awarded when they land on the grid:
- Toes: 0.5x your bet
- Ears: 0.7x your bet
- Eyes: 1x your bet
- Hands: 1.5x your bet
- Brains: 3x your bet
- Hearts: 10x your bet
Each Body Part symbol that appears on the grid will upgrade its current position, starting with a x2 Multiplier. The following upgrades increase the current Multiplier by +x1, up to a maximum of x999 per cell position.
If a Body Part symbol falls upon an upgraded cell position, its Coin Prize is multiplied by the available Multiplier. Additionally, Special symbols can appear on the grid, awarding the following outcomes:
- Ripper: Fills an entire column with skin patches, each revealing a Multiplier between x2 and x100. If placed on an existing Multiplier, the new value is added to it.
- Doppelganger: Chooses a random skin patch and doubles its current Multiplier.
- Finger Face: Collects the Multiplier of all skin patches and adds them to the current Multiplier of its landing position.
- Sphincter & Bones: Awards multiple Body Part symbols in random cell positions.
- Great Grandmother: Persistently upgrades Body Part symbols for the remainder of the feature.
Super Bonus
Alternatively, landing 4 Scatters in the base game triggers the Super Bonus, awarding 3 Respins. This mode utilises the same mechanics from the original Bonus; however, the first spin positions 1 Super Skin Patch to the grid, with a starting Multiplier between x111 and x999.

- Bonus Boost: Increases your chance of triggering a Bonus Mode for 1.5x your bet per spin (96%)

Our Honest Verdict
When you thought Shady Lady’s imagination couldn’t get any more twisted, they return with yet another disturbing & gruesome instalment, Sew, which harbours a skin-crawling Horror scene, thrilling gameplay, and everything in between.
Those with a thirst for all things gore will be absolutely thrilled with the game’s backstory, torturous aesthetics, and nail-biting soundscapes. If you thought Nolimit City’s Mental 2 was deeply terrifying, you’re in for quite a shock. So far, only Print Studios has raised the hairs on our necks, in Darkness & Dreadworks, but we’re now willing to add Sew to that list.
Sew is a game with a distinctly rare theme, and a genuine marvel at that. While our expectations of Shady Lady have grown significantly since their first appearance, this release has to be the most daring and disturbing addition to their portfolio, and we’d even go so far as to say it outranks several Nolimit City titles.
Each spin begins with 1,600 ways to win and a reel configuration of 4-5-4-5-4, alongside Hot Zones and multiple Bonus sessions. The Hot Zones feature enables multiple cell positions to transform into Wilds, in addition to Multipliers, for some truly heart-stopping moments.
Switching traditional Free Spins in favour of a hair-raising Hold & Win feature, Body Parts with Coin Prizes transform into persistent Skin Patches on the grid, with the potential to achieve up to x999 in a single Respin.
Alternatively, landing 4 Scatters awards the Super Bonus, where a single Skin Patch between x111 and x999 is applied to the grid, giving players the head-start they crave. Without knowing what lies ahead, it’s easy to assume that the value of all persistent Skin Patches is instantly yours for the taking. Unfortunately, though, they require a little something extra to guarantee their payout.
With a great supply of Booster & Bonus Buy options, non-UK players can feast upon Loot Boxes, Highlight Reels, and Ante Bet functions, for a partial or full slice of the 20,000x max win potential.
