Sweet Alchemy 2 Slot Review
We’re in for a sweet treat in Play’n GO’s latest release, which sees the return of Candy, the sweetest little Witch, in Sweet Alchemy 2!
Everyone’s favourite Candy Crush equivalent is back for a second time in Sweet Alchemy 2. If you’ve played Candy Crush before, you will know just how frustrating the spawning chocolate levels are…and Sweet Alchemy 2 has something similar going on.
While we can all appreciate a new release from a promising software developer, we definitely have a soft spot for a sequel. When a particular slot gets the sequel treatment, there is so much riding on it to be bigger and better than its predecessor, but has Play’n GO given Sweet Alchemy its just-desserts the second time around?
Quality graphics and a mesmerising backdrop allow Sweet Alchemy 2 to stand out from the original, and even Candy herself has been given a new wardrobe. Sweet Alchemy 2 is a sequel, so of course, there are going to be a few similarities.
With a fixed RTP of 96.2% and a high volatility score, Sweet Alchemy 2 tops the charts with a max win potential of 10,000x your bet. With so much time passed since Candy the Witch first worked her magic on us, will this latest instalment be the official cherry on top? Let’s find out.

Base Game & Features
Sweet Alchemy 2 is a 9-reel, 9-row, Cluster Pays video slot, awarding winning combinations when 4 or more matching symbols land horizontally or vertically adjacent on the grid.
The highest-paying symbol is displayed as a Yellow Star, followed by a variety of coloured confectionery, awarding payouts between 0.2x and 250x your bet. Gobstopper & Striped Wilds can appear in any grid position, substituting for all paytable symbols when completing a winning combination.
Gobstopper Wilds can land with up to 5 Lives, while Striped Wilds will remove an entire row or column of symbols as part of a winning combination. The Avalanche Feature removes each winning cluster on the grid, causing new symbols to fall in and fill the empty positions.
Each time a winning combination is removed, an equal number of Chocolate Blocks are destroyed from the grid. After this, the grid expands to reveal additional positions for paytable symbols to land, after which the grid resets with the next paid spin.

Sweet Alchemy 2 Free Spins
Removing every Chocolate Block from the grid in the base game triggers the Free Spins mode, awarding 4 Free Spins. Once active, Mega symbols in sizes 2×2 become available on the grid.
In this mode, Chocolate Blocks remain consistent throughout spins, and ridding the grid of them entirely results in an additional +4 Free Spins, plus an increase in Mega symbols.

The first and second retriggers guarantee 3×3 and 4×4 Mega symbols, respectively. In addition, a special Bonus Collection Meter is available outside the grid. Collecting the required symbols in the Bonus Panel will guarantee a special Bonus Game – the more potions you create, the higher the number of Bonus Spins you will receive.
Once the Free Spins mode is complete, the awarded Bonus Game will progress, revealing a special Wheel with individual Multipliers between x2 and x25. The awarded Multiplier is applied to your Total Win of the session before returning you to the base game.

Our Honest Verdict
Players may consider Sweet Alchemy 2 a dentist’s worst nightmare, but was it ours? When comparing the two instalments, we were impressed with the updated graphics, improved statistics, and overall appeal.
Sweet Alchemy 2 proves to be its own game through iconic functions and capabilities, while maintaining a similar structure to that of its predecessor. The base game is one of those where you feel comfortable sitting back and watching the magic unfold on the grid.
The best parts of gameplay don’t come until much later in Free Spins, which, as expected, makes it all the harder to trigger; however, Striped Wilds and Gobstoppers aided in the progression of this.
Instead of needing a set amount of Scatters to trigger Free Spins, you’re required to destroy every Chocolate Block from the outer edges of the grid, which is sometimes no easy task and a lot like a brutal level of Candy Crush.
What’s great is that Play’n GO hasn’t completely rid the sequel of its original roots. During Free Spins, a certain number of collected symbols is needed to unlock the Bonus Game, where Multipliers between x2 and x25 are applied to your total win of the session.
During testing, we struggled to reach anywhere near the 10,000x max win potential, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t capable of such a figure. Just after this release, Play’n GO updated the sequel to an ongoing series with Sweet Alchemy 100, which utilises similar functions found in this game, only with a 15,000x max win potential.
All in all, Sweet Alchemy 2 is a colourful slot with exciting elements and engaging features. If you’re a big fan of the original Sweet Alchemy release, you’ll find plenty to love about its sequel. Find this game and others in the Candy/Sweet genre at some of our fan-favourite slot sites.
