Mayor Diaz & his band of jolly followers are burning down the city with chaos, corruption, fear, & greed. Galloping in with horns or honour & a badge of steel, Toro is here to restore justice and demand answers.

Toro charges through the streets in a bid to take back the city – no villain or bribe can stop him…Toro is on his way. Toro 911 from ELK Studios returns the love/hate relationship between Matador & Toro to our screens for what feels like the first time in forever (just over 2 years to be exact).

Originally set in a quaint little town in Spain, the Toro & Matador series has come a long way since its first debut in Wild Toro, but what hasn’t changed is the strained relationship between Toro & Matador, which has become a comical element as the series progresses.

Since then, ELK Studios has released a steady flow of ‘Toro’ instalments, including Toro Shogun, Toro 7s, and Gladiatoro, to name a few. With so much time having passed since we saw the pair in action, will Toro 911 be the action-packed instalment we’ve been longing for?

In Toro 911, the feud between them only heightens as Matador becomes the latest member of Mayor Diaz’s goons. Throughout gameplay, Toro rids the city of Matador & Diaz symbols during the Clean the Streets Feature, leaving behind an impressive trail of Wild symbols as they try & outrun the law.

With a fixed RTP of 94% and a high volatility score, Toro 911 can award sizable payouts of up to 10,000x your bet. Continue reading our full Toro 911 slot review for further insights into gameplay, features, mechanics, and our honest opinion & rating…

Toro 911 Base Game
Toro 911 Base Game

Base Game & Features

Toro 911 is a 5-reel, 7-row video slot with 421 ways to win throughout the base game. Winning combinations occur when 3, 4, or 5 identical symbols land from reels 1-5, so long as they fall upon adjacent reels.

The highest-paying symbol is the Rose, followed by the Orange, Badge, Handcuffs, and A, K, Q, & J royals. Once the reels have settled, any winning combinations in view will award a fixed payout between 0.1x and 5x your bet.

Also present on the reels are Wild symbols, which substitute for all symbols except Toro, Matador, & Diaz symbols. A full win line of Wild symbols pays the same amount as the highest-paying symbol.

Toro

During each session, Toro may appear on reel 5, acting as an individual Wild symbol. If Toro is alone on the reels, without a Matador or Diaz symbol, he will walk towards the leftmost reel, one step at a time, until he reaches reel 1 & spins out. As he walks, +1 Respin is awarded.

If a Matador or Diaz symbol appears in the same spin, Toro will charge towards either of them, leaving behind a trail of Wild symbols. Toro may also turn back to collect any further Matador or Diaz symbols that fall behind him. If he charges over an existing Wild symbol, it will reveal a x2 Multiplier.

As Toro eliminates Matador symbols, he gains the current Multiplier, which applies to all winning combinations partly created by Toro.

Matador

In addition to Toro symbols, the Matador symbol acts as Wild on the reels, displaying a Multiplier of at least x2. Each time a Matador symbol hits, a single Respin is awarded for a chance to land a Toro symbol on reel 5. However, during the Respin, Matador symbols may remain in position or leave their symbol frame.

Diaz

When a Diaz symbol appears on the reels, it acts as a Sticky Wild until the current spin cycle ends, unless it is eliminated from the reels by a Toro symbol. Once in view, Diaz symbols award at least 1 Matador symbol onto a random reel position.

So long as a Diaz symbol remains in view, each Respin cycle will increase the current Multiplier of all visible Matador symbols.

Clean the Streets

Having a Diaz symbol land within the same spin as Toro will trigger the Clean the Streets Feature.

At the start of the feature, the Diaz symbol will generate a single Matador symbol. Toro will charge at each available Matador symbol, one at a time, removing them from the reels, after which, Toro will then charge at the Diaz symbol.

If Diaz can escape, a Respin is awarded & the feature continues; however, if Diaz is eliminated, the feature ends.

Our Honest Verdict

With the Battle of Nitropolis series taking up a big chunk of ELK Studios’ time, we’ve been patiently waiting for a new Toro release to appear on our radar, and that time is now. It’s been well over 2 years since Gladiatoro made its debut, and we’re eager to see our dynamic duo embrace the reels once more, even if they don’t often see eye to eye.

After exploring Japan, Rome, & Spain, Toro 911 transports us to a rather noisy downtown America, which is not quite the destination we had in mind, nor one we’re used to seeing from the series. While the aesthetics & theme remind us of a classic cop TV programme, Toro 911 has plenty of thrilling features & mechanics, most of which are carried over from previous instalments.

In true ELK fashion, Toro 911 includes high-quality graphics, an action-packed theme, & stunning visuals, alongside a generous max win potential of 10,000x your bet. Each spin reveals a variety of paytable symbols across 421 ways to win, accompanied by Toro, Matador, & Diaz symbols, which host both the Toro Goes Wild and Clean the Streets features.

Stripping the game Scatters, it falls to Toro, Matador, & Diaz to bring the action to the reels, substituting Free Spins for an interesting Clean the Streets feature. Our opinion is that it doesn’t quite top any form of Free Spins mode, but it does expand the much-loved Toro Goes Wild feature, which has become a valuable asset in almost every Toro release.

All in all, Toro 911 is a pleasing addition to the Toro series, inserting all our favourite attributes from previous releases into gameplay, with the welcoming appearance of Diaz symbols & a Clean the Streets feature, all neatly wrapped into a 10,000x max win potential.
