Hacksaw Gaming are known for their charismatic portfolio, flicking through light and dark themes depending on their mood. Taking us to the dark side once again, Wings of Horus shares strong similarities to Hand of Anubis, inspired by the great God of the Afterlife.
With iGaming market bursting at the seams with Egyptian slots, can we make room for one more? Let’s play on and find out!
Base Game & Features
Wings of Horus is a 5×6 Grid Slot with 7,776 active ways to win and varying bet sizes between £.€0.10 per spin and £.€100 per spin. Other statistics include a theoretical RTP of 96.33%, a High Volatility rating, and a max win cap of 15,000x your bet.
Wins are calculated when 3-5 matching symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. Wings of Horus has an equal number of High and Low-paying symbols, with the highest-paying producing wins between 1x and 2x your bet. Wilds substitute for all paytable symbols and only appear through Orb mechanics.
Orb of the Moon
When the blue Orb of the Moon symbol appears in view, it will select all instances of a random symbol on the grid. It will then replace all positions of the selected symbol (and itself) with a higher-paying symbol or Wild. The new symbol is randomly chosen from a pool of symbols with higher payouts than itself.
Orb of the Sun
When the red Orb of the Sun symbol hits, it will select all instances of 2 random symbols visible on the grid. It will then replace all positions of the selected symbol (and itself) with a higher-paying symbol or Wild. Again, the new symbol is chosen at random from a pool of symbols with a higher payout than itself.
Sacred Scripture
All low-paying symbols are designed to spell ‘Horus’. If these symbols land in this formation (horizontally or vertically), you will be awarded a Cash Reward of 500x your bet.
Bonus Buy
- Bonushunt Featurespins: Each spin is 5 times more likely to trigger Free Spins (3x your bet)
- Orby Featurespins: Each spin guarantees at least 2 Orb symbols to land (50x your bet)
- Revenge of the Pharoah: 10 Free Spins with an Orb progression bar (100x your bet)
- Rise of the Falcon: 10 Free Spins where the Orb progression bar starts at Level 2 (250x your bet)
Revenge of the Pharoah
Landing 3 FS Scatters in the base game triggers the Revenge of the Pharoah bonus, awarding 10 Free Spins.
In this round, 2 Progression Meters are displayed outside the grid. The value of the Golden progression meter will increase each time a win is calculated. Once filled, the Purple Orb progression meter will increase by +1 level. After each increase, the Golden progression bar will reset to 0.
Before the last drop, the Purple Orb progression bar will activate. The number of levels in this meter corresponds to the number of Orbs, either the Orb of the Moon or Orb of the Sun, that will land on the final drop of this bonus, up to a maximum of 5.
Landing 2 or 3 FS Scatters awards an additional +2 and +4 Free Spins respectively.
Rise of the Falcon
Landing 4 FS Scatters in the base game triggers the Rise of the Falcon bonus, awarding 10 Free Spins.
This bonus works in the same manner as Revenge of the Pharoah, only the Purple Orb progression bar begins at Level 2. Landing 2 or 3 FS Scatters awards +2 and +4 Free Spins respectively.
Our Verdict
Of all the providers, Hacksaw Gaming has to be one of our favourites, with standout titles like Chaos Crew, Itero Echospins, and Le Bandit holding out as some of their best work. Whether you prefer their colourful collection of games or the dark and mysterious instalments, each title is equipped with elements of excitement and uniqueness.
The iGaming industry is overpowered by Egyptian slots, so much so that they’ve become a little distasteful. A roll of the eyes always seems to follow when we’re handed another generic Egyptian slot, but Wings of Horus kept our eyes firmly glued to our screens.
With an impressive design and a frightening depiction of Horus standing next to the grid, this game certainly earns its spot in Hacksaw Gaming’s dark series. As gripping as the design is, we feel the mechanics and features are even more so thanks to special Orb symbols that portray unique abilities, both in the base game and Free Spins rounds.
Statistically, Wings of Horus is consistent with 15,000x in max win capabilities. This figure is rarely facilitated in Hacksaw titles, topping the likes of Hand of Anubis and its 10,000x max win cap.
All in all, Wings of Horus will make a great addition to the Egyptian genre of games across Casino Sites, equipped with impressive statistics and exciting features that will suit a wide audience of players.
