Team up once again with a gang of mischievous robbers as they attempt to sneak out with as much swag as they can carry in Light & Wonder’s latest release, Stash & Grab Frenzy!

The good for nothing robbers were evidently unsatisfied with their previous haul, so they’re back to fill their pockets once more in the new (and hopefully improved) Stash & Grab Frenzy.

The original Stash & Grab released in July 2022 with 8,000x win potential, but has Light & Wonder upped the ante for a sequel? Let’s find out.

Stash & Grab Frenzy Base Game and Features

Stash & Grab Frenzy is a 5 reel slot with 10 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbol types (or 2 or more of the highest paying symbol) land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€20 per spin, with plenty of other betting options in between the two. Stash & Grab Frenzy has a theoretical RTP of 96.16% and a maximum win capacity of 12,500x.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Stash & Grab Frenzy is the Diamond, followed by the Tiara, Necklace, Ring and Earrings. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.

Special Symbols

During the base game, you will come into contact with Wild symbols which substitute for all other symbols except Scatters and Robbers.

When 2, 3 or 4 Wild or Robber symbols land across the reels with a low-paying symbol making up a w , only the highest paying symbol will be paid out. When 5 Wild or Robber symbols land across the reels, again only the highest paying symbol will be paid out.

Another symbol that you will come across in the Free Spins round is Robber symbols. There are 3 different Robber symbols available and all of them will act as Wilds, substituting for all High and Low-paying symbols. No more than 3 Robber symbols can appear on the reels at any one time.

The last special symbol in play is Swag Bags, which appear with a random Money value between 2x and 50x your current bet. When a Swag Bag symbol lands during Free Spins at the same time as a Robber symbol, its current Money value will be stored onto the Robber, leaving a blank space in its place.

During Free Spins, the total Money value on any landed Swag Bags can only be awarded when collected by a Robber symbol. Swag Bags also as as one symbol for the purpose of calculating w in both the base game and free spins round.

Stash & Grab Frenzy Free Spins

Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters across the reels triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 6, 8 and 10 Free Spins respectively.

During the Free Spins round, any Robber symbols that land in view will collect any adjacent Money values from the Swag Bag symbols on the reels.

Any visible Robber symbols will remain on the reels and Respins are awarded. Between each Respin, all Robber symbols will move one position to the left. If there are multiple Robber symbols in play at any one time, Money values on adjacent Swag Bags can be collected by more than one Robber.

Respins will end when all Robber symbols have reached the left-most reel and disappeared. The Money values that each of the robber symbols collected will then be stored in the Stash Meter on the left side of the reel set and awarded to the total win at the end of the round.

During Respins, your total number of Free Spins will not decline and once Respins are concluded, the Free Spins round will continue where it left off.

Stash & Grab Frenzy Bonus Buy

For those of you who are outside the UK, you will benefit from a Bonus Buy option.

Light & Wonder has granted players access to the Free Spins round for a total cost of 54.10x your total bet. The Bonus Buy will randomly award either 6, 8 or 10 Free Spins. 

When purchasing Free Spins, the RTP decreases slightly from 96.16% to 96.14%.

Stash & Grab Frenzy: Our Verdict

Stash & Grab Frenzy certainly doesn’t look much different to its predecessor, but there’s some key changes for the better elsewhere.

In Free Spins, Robbers remain on the reels before walking to the left in a bid to fill their bag, and continue to do so until they’re out of sight. This is in contrast to the Hold & Win style bonus round in the original Stash and Grab, but we think it’s for the better.

There’s no Super Bet anymore, which we think is better too. Among the most appreciated slot features, an Ante Bet to increase your chance of Free Spins isn’t really high on the list. We’d happily live without it, but some players may disagree.

In another improvement, Light & Wonder has added a bonus buy option for non-UK players, and the price is fairly reasonable too. Lastly, and most importantly, the potential has been icnreased in Stash & Grab Frenzy with a maximum possible win of 12,000x, which is 4,000x higher than the previous game.

Overall, we still don’t think Stash & Grab Frenzy has the makings of a hall of fame slot, but it’s not a bad little title. Pehaps Light & Wonder may take it further with another instalment at a later date? Maybe a Stash & Grab Megaways, or Stash and Grab Mighty Ways?
