Pragmatic Play is giving Hacksaw Gaming a run for their money, with another mouth-watering slot to add to their confectionery collection. It’s true that Pragmatic Play hasn’t got the biggest sweet tooth compared to Hacksaw Gaming, but given how much of a sweet success Sweet Bonanza was with players, Pragmatic Play has decided to ditch the fruit in favour of sugary treats!
Sugar Rush is the kind of game that teeters on the boundaries of what should really be allowed in Slots, as does others like it. It sounds strange, but given the appeal this could have to children should they see it by happenstance, its not always a good thing to have rainbows sweets and gummy bears instead of some of the edgier themes we see elsewhere.
Of course, these sweet treats are just for the adults, so put the kids to bed, sit yourself down and indulge in a cavity inducing experience with Sugar Rush.
Sugar Rush is a 7 reel slot with 20 fixed paylines. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 5 or more of the same symbol types, either Horizontally or Vertically. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.
Sugar Rush features Tumbling Reels. Each time a winning combination is formed, all winnning symbols will be removed from play and new symbols will fall down via a Tumble, filling all empty positions on the reels. Once a Tumble occurs, there is a chance it will create even more winning combinations.
In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Sugar Rush is the Pink Lollipop, followed by the Orange Heart, Pink Jellybean and Green Star. Low-paying symbols fall to Red, Purple and Orange Gummy Bears. There is no Wild symbol present in Sugar Rush.
To mix things up a little, Pragmatic Play has thrown in a Multiplier Spots Feature in both the base game and free spins. More on this below!
Each time a winning combination is formed and removed from play, a Spot is marked directly underneath on the grid in the form of a Sweet Wrapper.
If another winning combination is formed in the same place as the marked spot, a Multiplier of x2 is added which Doubles every time 1 or more winning symbol is formed on top of it, up to a maximum of x128. If more than one Multiplier is involved in the same winning combination, the Multiplier amounts will be added together.
During the base game, all marked spots with Multipliers will only last until the end of the Tumbling sequence, which will reset when there are no more Tumbles.
Landing 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10, 12, 15, 20 and 30 Free Spins respectively.
During the Free Spins round, all Marked Spots and their Multipliers will remain in their positions for the duration of Free Spins. Like the Multiplier Spots Feature, each time a winning combination is formed on top of a Multiplier Spot, it will increase by +1, up to a maximum of x128.
Landing 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 Scatters during the Free Spins round, awards an additional +10, +12, +15, +20 and +30 Free Spins respectively. If the maximum win capacity of 5,000x is reached, the round will end and all remaining Free Spins will be forfeited.
For those outside the UK, you may benefit from a Bonus Buy option
The Free Spins round can be purchased for a generous 100x your current bet. The RTP when purchasing Free Spins remains the same at 96.50%.
It’s hard not to make comparisons between Sugar Rush and the likes of Sweet Bonanza, but there’s definitely some similarities there. There’s some differences too though, like the multiplier frames, which gives Sugar Rush a bit of uniqueness to it…while at the same time making it similar to Fruit Party as well…if that makes any sense.
Basically, Sugar Rush is a bit of an amalgamation of the two games with a touch of its own personality.
Potential wise, Sugar Rush looks very similar to others in the Pragmatic Portfolio with 5,000x win potential. Pragmatic Play rarely deviate from this figure, but you can’t say it’s not realistic, even if you’re of the opinion that they should up the ante.
Many Pragmatic Play titles regularly hit their caps, which sort of gives them appeal, even if they’re not quite the beast that some other slots are. Some providers give outright ridiculous and unrealistic calculations, as you know, so its nice to at least have a realistic chance.
