Tasty Treats Slot Review 2021

Tasty Treats from Hacksaw Gaming takes us to a childhood dream and a dentists worst nightmare in a wonderland full of confectionary!

Hacksaw Gaming has taken great strides of late in making their mark on the industry with a growing portfolio of incredible titles. Not too long ago, Hacksaw Gaming either weren’t known at all or recognised as a provider who primarily dealt with fixed prize scratch cards. Incredible titles like Chaos Crew are now well known by keen players everywhere, and the likes of Rocket Reels continues to show its mettle with huge wins on low stakes.

How does Tasty Treats compare? Will it be a sweet success or will it leave you with toothache?

Those among us with weak willpower could use the reasoning that we’re close enough to Christmas now to use it as an excuse to go all out on calorie dense sweets, and we fully intend to in Tasty Treats.

Tasty Treats Base

Tasty Treats Theme

You need only look at Tasty Treats to put on a few pounds. The background is a wonderland filled with rainbows, candy canes and more, and the reels themselves are full of gummies, cakes and donuts.

We wouldn’t call Tasty Treats innovative. Many before it has tried their hand at slots with a ”tasty’ theme like this, so it’s not exactly something that’ll wow you from the offset. Though nowhere near as delectable, we prefer the instantly gripping aesthetics of Chaos Crew and Wanted Dead or a Wild instead.

Tasty Treats: Betting and Symbols

Hacksaw Gaming always cater to everyone with the betting options available, and Tasty Treats is no different. The lowest option here is £/€0.20 per spin, and the highest option is £/€100 per spin. There are loads of options in between, so you’re well catered for in this regard.

Now, we won’t even pretend to know exactly what all of the sweet treats on offer here are. All of the cakes are the higher paying symbols, and the gummy and hard boiled sweets are the lower paying symbols.

Hacskaw Gaming regularly do something interesting with their symbols whereby most of them have exactly equal value. The Donut is the highest paying symbol, but the rest of the cakes hold equal value. The same can be said for the lower paying symbols with identical pay outs too. There’s a Wild Symbol in Tasty Treats which substitutes for all symbols except for the Free Spins symbol.

Tasty Treats: The Base Game and Features

It’ll come as no surprise to keen followers of Hacksaw Gaming to learn that Tasty Treats is another cluster pays slot.

To form a win, you’ll need at least 5 of any symbols to connect horizontally and/or vertically. Winning clusters will disappear from play, which leaves room for more symbols to fall in via a cascade to fill their spaces. This creates the opportunity for consecutive wins.

Testing of Tasty Treats in the Base Game seemed a bit boring at first. This is something that can happen with quite a few of Hacksaw Gaming’s slots. Seemingly, all of the action is in the Free Spins round, but now and again it does throw it a little something to bring you back.

Bubble Boosters

Bubble Boosters is a feature that consists of bubbles that rise and burst over random grid positions. Bubbles may be different sizes and can contain both overlaying multipliers and wild symbols.

Should a multiplier land on a winning cluster, then the win is multiplied by the win amount. Every spin and every cascade has a chance to trigger 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 bubbles which may be 1×1, 2×2 or 3×3 in size.

When it comes to multipliers, the overlaying multiplier values may be 2x, 3x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 25x, 50x or 100x. Should two or more multipliers land in the same position or on the same cluster, their win values are added together for a total win multiplier.

This is a great feature if you can get some momentum going, and huge wins can materialise if you get big clusters with big multipliers.

As exciting as it is, it does sort of feel like its the same feature seen before in other slots by the same provider, but executed in a slightly different way.

Monster Hand

The Monster Hand is a simple feature, but it has the potential to be an effective one.

This feature triggers randomly, and when it does two arms will reach for the reels and remove all symbols from the first three columns, last three columns or all columns. This can turn non-winning combinations into winning ones, but quite often it doesn’t make much of a difference.

Tasty Treats Free Spins

3 Scatter symbols anywhere on the grid trigger the Free Spins in Tasty Treats.

Each of the scatter symbols will transform into a number before the round starts, and the sum total of these numbers determines how many Free Spins you’ll get. Each symbol may transform into 2, 3, 4 or 5 Free Spins, so you can win between 6 and 15 Free Spins.

Tasty Treats Free Spins works much like the Base Game, except there is a lot more Bubble Boosters when compared to the Base Game. Free Spin scatters may also land to award more Free Spins.

Tasty Treats Free Spins

Tasty Treats Bonus Buy

If you’re outside of the UK, then you can benefit from a Bonus Buy option for 129x your selected bet.

10 Free Spins are guaranteed when you buy the bonus. The RTP when buying the bonus is 96.25%

Tasty Treats: Our Verdict

Tasty Treats certainly can be tasty at times, but every now and then you’ll feel like you’ve got a sour sweet in your mouth.

Tasty Treats certainly has all the makings of a brilliant Hacksaw Gaming slot statistically with great 10,000x win potential, but if we’re honest, it feels like they’ve just taken the features from previous slots and executed them in a different way.

The overlay of multipliers can and has done wonders for player looking to hit big on a Hacksaw Slot, even at low stakes. However, it just doesn’t feel like its particularly new at this point.

Wanted Dead or a Wild was a good showing of Hacksaws capabilities in the innovation department, despite how brutal it was. 3 different bonus modes meant seemingly endless excitement, and the art style and concept behind this and Chaos Crew really wowed you from the get go. Tasty Treats may be sweet and pretty, but the Candy Crush vibes definitely won’t appeal to all, us included.

Overall, Tasty Treats is a very good slot, but it’s by no means the best from Hacksaw.
