Gorilla Madness Slot Review 2024
Get ready to feel the wrath of the almighty Gorilla in Light & Wonder’s latest release, Gorilla Madness!
Did Gorillas and Dinosaurs exist at the same time? or is that part of the madness? We’re not well-versed on pre-historic creatures, but we’re looking forward to it anyway.
Gorilla Madness looks to be a slot centred around its Jackpots, so jackpot chasers read on, or dinosaur fans for that matter.
Our first impressions of Gorilla Madness was a good one. It’s a delight to look at with a sound art style, but is it a delight to play?
Let’s take a look at Light & Wonder’s newest game.
Gorilla Madness Base Game and Features
Gorilla Madness is a 5 reel slot with 243 ways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbol types land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.
The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.18 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€88 per spin, with plenty of other betting options in between the two. Gorilla Madness has a theoretical RTP of 96.00% and a maximum win capacity of 2,761x.
In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol in Gorilla Madness is the Gold Gorilla, followed by the Pink Gorilla, Green Dinosaur, Orange Dinosaur and Blue Dinosaur. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten and Nine.
There is also a Wild symbol present on reels 2, 3 and 4 in both the base game and Free Spins round, which substitutes for all High and Low-paying symbols, including the Free Spins Scatter.
Gorilla Madness Jackpot
During any random spin in the base game, when 1 or more Wild symbols land across the reels, the Gorilla Madness Jackpot feature may trigger.
There are 4 Jackpots available to win, these are as follows.
- Mini – Awards 20x your current bet.
- Minor – Awards 40x your current bet.
- Major – Awards 750x your current bet.
- Grand – Awards 2,000x your current bet.
Once the Jackpot feature is active, a screen with 12 Coins will be displayed. Pick coins to reveal the Jackpot symbols behind them. Matching 3 of the same Jackpot symbol will award the corresponding Jackpot Prize and the feature will end.
Gorilla Madness Free Spins
Landin 3, 4 or 5 Scatters acorss the reels starting from the left-most reel, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10 Free Spins.
During Free Spins, all Low-paying symbols are removed from play. The Gorilla Madness picker feature can also be triggered more frequently during the Free Spins round.
Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters during Free Spins, starting from the left-most reel, awards an additional +10 Free Spins.
Gorilla Madness: Our Verdict
Gorilla Madness wasn’t quite the madness we were expecting. If anything, it’s a fairly low volatility game by the standards of today with its 2,761x max win, so that alone might be a bit of a turn off for those in favour of high volatility games with big win potential.
The Base game seemed rather boring, and you’ll be heavily reliant on that Jackpot Feature to experience any real excitement. We can’t say how frequent it is, but through testing the game we found ourselves in the Base Game for an excruitiating amount of time.
Gorilla Madness could have done with a few features to be honest, but at least Free Spins relies on something other than the Jackpot Feature. Low paying symbols are removed in Free Spins, so the wins can be fairly decent if you’re lucky with the symbols.
Of course, the Jackpot mechanic does come into the equation during Free Spins, and the Gorilla Madness Jackpot Feature triggers more often.
Overall, Gorilla Madness is sure to provide some sense of fun to those who give it a chance, but it lacks in anything that would leave a real impression.
