KokeshiPop Slot Review 2024
The PopWins series continues with the FIFTEENTH in the series, KokeshiPop.
KokeshiPop is a gorgeous looking asian instalment with a sort of Oragami-like aesthetic to it.
We’re absolute suckers for the asian-styled games. There’s something very alluring, beautiful and mystical about the culture, and just from a glance we’re liking the look of KokeshiPop already.
AvatarUX has given KokeshiPop the ability to double its multipliers in both the Base Game and Free Spins, and ‘Outstanding wins are guaranteed’ was their confident take on their newest game.
Let’s take a look at KokeshiPop and see if there’s any truth to it.
KokeshiPop Base Game and Features
KokeshiPop is a 5 reel slot with up to 33,614 ways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols (or 2 or more of the highest paying symbol) land from left to right and right to left on adjacent reels.
The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.20 (£/€0.25 Ante Bet) per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€40 (£/€50 Ante Bet) per spin, with plenty of other betting options in between the two. KokeshiPop has a theoretical RTP of 96.09% and a max win cap of 10,000x.
Thanks to the PopWins mechanic, each time a winning combination is formed, all winning symbols will ‘pop’ and disappear from the reels.
Once this happens, akk emoty positions will be replaced by 2 new symbols, increasing the reel height. The reels will continue to expand as long as more winning combinations form, up to 6 symbols high in the base game and up to 7 symbols high in Free Spins.
In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol here is the Character with the Red background, followed by the Cat and Characters with the Yellow and Blue backgrounds. Medium paying symbols fall to Pink, Green and Purple symbols.
Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten. There is also a Wild symbol present in the Free Spins round which substitutes for all High, Medium and Low-paying symbols in the paytable.
Ante Bet
Before you can begin spinning, you will be given the option to activate the Ante Bet feature.
Choosing to activate this feature will increase your current bet by 25%, but with that comes certain benefits. Once the Ante Bet is active, your chances of triggering the Free Spins round is Doubled.
Base Game Multiplier
Each time the reels unlock during the base game, a random Multiplier of x5, x10 or x20 is introduced.
Each subsequent win after this will double the Multiplier which will reset between spins.
KokeshiPop Free Spins
Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters across the reels in any position triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 5, 8 and 12 Free Spins respectively. Alternatively, you can buy your way into the Free Spins round (if you have access) through the Bonus Buy option.
At the start of Free Spins, the reels will start at 4 symbols high and can increase up to a maximum of 7 symbols high per reel. The reel height progression will fully reset between each Free Spin.
Gamble Wheel
Before the Free Spins round begins, you will be able to Gamble your current amount of Free Spins for more.
If you choose to gamble and lose, you will return to the base game empty-handed. You can only take part in the Gamble Wheel twice, winning up to 12 Free Spins.
Multiplier
The Free Spins round starts with an active Multiplier of x1. Consecutive wins will subsequently Double the Multiplier value, for example x2 will turn into x4 and x4 to x8 and so on and so forth.
If the reels become fully unlocked, the Kokeshi Multiplier will be awarded. Once this happens, the existing Multiplier is multiplied by a random Multiplier value of x5, x10 or x20, which will double on each subsequent win.
Fully unlocking the reel set will also award an additional +2 Free Spins.
KokeshiPop Bonus Buy
For those of you who are outside the UK, you will benefit from a Bonus Buy option.
AvatarUX has granted players access to two Free Spins options as follows.
- Option 1 – Awards 5 Free Spins for a total cost of 60x your current bet. This option can be Gambled to win up to 8 Free Spins.
- Option 2 (Max Buy) – Awards 12 Free Spins for a total cost of 240x your current bet.
KokeshiPop: Our Verdict
KokeshiPop has everything that makes a PopWins game amazing, and some of what makes it bad, too.
Once again there’s a rather stomach-churning gamble feature to deal with if you’re looking for the best possible bonus, but this might not feel like an issue to those within bonus buy territory with the ability to choose the Bonus Buy Max option.
On a more positive note, we’re big fans of what AvatarUX has decided to do with the Base Game and Free Spins multipliers. A multiplier of x5, x10 or x20 could be huge given the right circumstances, and the way that it’s been handled in Free Spins is even better than that. AvatarUX has opted for a multiplier that doubles its value instead of incrementing by +1. This in itself is huge, but when you think of the Kokeshi Multiplier that comes into play when the reels are unlocked you just can’t help but get excited.
The maximum win cap for this one is 10,000x. Given its features, we feel like KokeshiPop could go for a lot more, but for some reason its been capped at 10,000x. Some PopWins games feel like they’re overstating their ability if we’re honest, but at least KokeshiPop seems realistic.
Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with the charm of KokeshiPop, and we were even more pleased with its abilities when we tested it ourselves.
The zen is undeniable, and the appeal is rather undeniable too.
