Massive Gold Slot Review 2024
Games Global partner Snowborn Games are going back to basics in their latest release, Massive Gold!
Snowborn Games are back with a new release that has been stripped of loveable characters in Massive Gold, a slot with a classic theme yet modern mechanics and features.
Get ready to welcome back Snowborn Games’ Booster feature and Jackpot Bonus, as well as 1Up symbols seen previously in Fish ‘Em Up and Pile ‘Em Up.
Massive Gold may not look as appealing as Cat Clans 2 or Peaky Pigs, but we have high hopes when it comes to gameplay thanks to Snowborn Games’ innovative skills in that department.
Join us as we take to the reels in hopes of winning massive Gold!
Massive Gold Base Game and Features
Massive Gold is a 5-reel Video slot with 20 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The minimum bet available here is £.€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€50 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.00% and a max win cap of 5,000x.
In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the $ Sign, followed by Triple 7s, Bells, and Dice. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, and Jack. Wilds substitute for all other symbols except Gold Bars, Scatters, and 1Up symbols.
Gold Booster & Collect Symbols
Above the reel set sits a special Gold Booster meter, starting with a value of x1. Each time a 1Up symbol lands in view, it is added to the Gold Booster, increasing the Multiplier level up to a maximum of x10.
When a Collect symbol lands on Reel 5, the total amount of Gold Bar symbols in view will have their values (between 0.5x and 50x your bet) multiplied by the Multiplier on the Gold Booster.
Once the Gold Booster Multiplier has been applied to Gold Bar symbols, it will reset back to x1. During Free Spins, the Gold Booster does not reset.
Jackpot Bonus
Triggering the Jackpot Bonus is done so by landing a Gold Bar symbol on reels 1,2, 3, and 4 randomly. Once active, the Jackpot Pot begins with 3 Respins and an empty grid.
Landing a Gold Bar symbol anywhere on the grid will reset the Respins back to 3. If Gold Bars and Prize symbols fill the entire grid, the Mega Jackpot is awarded. The Jackpot Bonus will end when there are no remaining Respins or if the entire grid is filled with Gold Bar and Prize symbols.
There are 4 types of Jackpot Prizes to be won during this time, these are as follows.
- Mini – Awards 30x your bet.
- Minor – Awards 100x your bet.
- Major – Awards 500x your bet.
- Mega – Awards 5,000x your bet.
During this round, Prize symbols will be collected and stored in a special Meter referring to each prize level. All collected symbols will be removed from the grid. If during this round, 3 of the same Prize symbols land on the grid, the corresponding Prize is won.
Massive Gold: Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatter symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5 in the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10 Free Spins.
During Free Spins, each 1Up symbol that lands in view will increase the Gold Booster Multiplier. When the Gold Booster reaches x4, x7, and x10, you will be awarded an additional +5 Free Spins respectively.
Massive Gold Bonus Buy
Those outside the UK will benefit from a Bonus Buy option. Snowborn Games has granted players access to the Free Spins round for a total cost of 50x your bet.
Massive Gold: Our Verdict
Massive Gold is more along the lines of a massive disappointment if we’re being honest, but that’s just our opinion. It’s quite hard for us to make such a statement about a Snowborn Games slot, especially when all the others have been exceptionally good, but they can’t all be winners unfortunately.
There are a few brief moments during gameplay where things take a positive turn, but it’s the same recycled features we’ve seen a bunch of times in a number of slots. The theme also loses some brownie points, unless of course you prefer a classic approach to design/theme.
Fish ‘Em Up has the same features and modifiers in place as this does, yet we felt a higher score was deserving given how fresh these features and modifiers were at the time, further complimented by its popular Fishing theme.
All in all, Massive Gold missed the mark this time, but Snowborn has proven their aptitude before, and we’re sure they will again in future releases.
