Napoleon Megaways Slot Review
Napoleon Megaways from Blueprint Gaming hopes to revive a trusty favourite and reinvigorate hopes of the wild line with their fresh new offering.
It’s been said that Napoleon was a rather short fellow, earning himself the name ‘Le Petit Caporal’. History would suggest that he wasn’t short at all and that he surrounded himself with tall soldiers of the elite guard who made him look small in comparison. Such an accomplished military statesman would be turning in his grave if he knew that he’s remembered as the figurehead for short angry men, but at least Blueprint Gaming paid tribute to his prominence through their earlier release, Napoleon Rise of an Empire.
Lucksome too carried on Napoleon’s legacy in Napoleon 2 Fat Stacks, and Blue Guru Games even used his likeness, albeit in pixelated form, in Napoleon Vs Rabbits
It’s back in Blueprint hands for the next instalment, and this time with Big Time Gaming’s renowned Megaways mechanic. A renowned mechanic for a distinguished figure seems fitting, but will it impress those looking interested not in his military accomplishments, but in his capabilities on the reels?
Napoleon releases at UK slot sites on 24/10/24, and fans of the original will be waiting in anticipation to see if Napoleon can measure up this time, pun intended.
Base Game & Features
Napoleon Megaways is a highly volatile 6-reel Video Slot with up to 15,625 ways to win and betting options between £.€0.10 per spin and £.€10 per spin. In addition to the high volatility rating, this game also includes a theoretical RTP of 95.49%.
With 10 High and Low-paying symbols in tow, the highest-paying (Soldier) awards a payout between 2x and 20x your bet. Wins are calculated when 3-6 matching symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
Napoleon Wilds
During gameplay, special Napoleon Wilds may appear, substituting for all symbols except Scatters. When in view on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, Napoleon Wilds will expand to fill the entire reel, awarding a random Multiplier value that is applied to all wins that run through it.
Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 Scatters in the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 12 Free Spins and a payout of 2x, 20x, 50x, and 100x your bet respectively.
During Free Spins, Napoleon Wilds are consistent on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, expanding on their respective reel when in view. In addition, Napoleon Wilds will upgrade each High-paying symbol in order of value.
Landing 1, 2, 3, or 4 Napoleon Wilds awards an additional +1, +3, +5, and +7 Free Spins respectively.

Our Verdict
The release of Napoleon Rise of an Empire in 2018 took the iGaming community by storm with its impressive base game payouts and rewarding max win cap of 100,000x, remaining an all-time favourite with players all these years later.
In 2023, Blueprint partner Lucksome Games took to the challenge of creating a sequel that featured their latest mechanic, Fat Stacks. Our first impression of Napoleon 2 Fat Stacks was one of apprehension.
Given the huge success of the original, it was hard to comprehend how Lucksome would compete. Thankfully, they created a sequel with plenty of positive changes and nifty mechanics that became a credit to the original.
After putting their stamp on the second instalment, Lucksome Games hands the torch back to Blueprint Gaming for the creation of Napoleon Megaways. Using Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic as a way to change things up, players can find themselves playing with 15,625 ways.
Instead of bringing back the ‘Attack’ feature, Blueprint Gaming has opted for a simple yet effective Multiplier Wild function, causing them to stack and fill entire reels. To some, this may feel like a downgrade, but having multiple Napoleon Wilds hits in a single spin can lead to impressive payouts.
In Free Spins, Napoleon Wilds takes on additional roles. Not only are they Multiplier Wilds, but they’re also in charge of upgrading symbols and awarding extra Free Spins. Thanks to these extra functions, you’ll find that Napoleon Wilds are harder to achieve during this time.
Napolean Rise Of an Empire stands out as quite a memorable title, and quite compelling thanks to the substantial payouts it can offer. Whether it be nostalgia or otherwise, it’s hard to determine exactly if Napolean Megaways outshines its predecessor, and we predict that many may stick to the original. Megaways is an extremely popular mechanic, but sometimes it feels like it can dull the potential a little, even if it is statistically superior.
Overall, Napoleon Megaways ticks the ‘exciting’ checkbox, but it’s not quite a statement, and it’s not as impactful as the original seemed to be. They came at different times, and it could be argued that Napoleon just doesn’t make quite the impression that he once did.
