Base Game & Features
Secrets of Memnon is a 5-reel, 3-row Video Slot with unlockable reel heights and 20 active pay lines. Wins occur from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. This game is classified as a Low Volatility slot, with an overall RTP of 96.19% and a max win cap of 2,064x your bet.
This game has a mix of High and Low-paying symbols, awarding wins between 0.5x and 100x your bet. Wild symbols appear on all reels and substitute for all symbols except Scatter and Jewel symbols. Wilds are doubled in height, meaning they take up 2 positions on the reels. When a Wild is in view, it will expand to unlock the top 3 rows on the reel it landed.
Special Jewel symbols appear on reels 2-5 and are assigned a random Cash Value between 0.5x and 10x your bet. Each expanded Wild will collect and award all cash values in the base game and Free Spins round.
Gamble Feature
A key feature of this game is the Gamble Feature, which you can enable without any extra cost. When enabled, the gamble feature will be activated whenever you win 5x your bet or higher (or 2.5x your bet or higher if you have premium play enabled).
When the gamble feature is activated, you’ll be presented with 2 Gamble Options, which include gambling your cash value and/or gambling for entry into Free Spins.
You can choose to try one or both of these options and you can continue doing so until you decide to collect or until you lose your gamble. Each option can be gambled up to 5 times, with the maximum number of possible free spins being capped at 50.
It’s worth noting that over time, the average RTP via the gamble option is 100%, which is good news for players in general because it means that the casino doesn’t get a cut of any gamble losses.
Premium Play
Secrets of Memnon does not have a traditional Bonus Buy, but it does have a Premium Play option. This enables players to activate the Golden Flame Bonus for an additional 1.5x their current bet.
Once active, any wins greater than 2x your bet will activate the Golden Flame Bonus, triggering a special Wheel. The wheel is filled with Multipliers and Free Spins icons. Multipliers range between x1 and x5, while there are 4 individual Free Spins segments on the wheel.
Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatter symbols on reels 3-5 in the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 8 Free Spins.
In this round, Wild symbols only need to land partially in view to expand and unlock the top-row positions. Landing further Scatter symbols awards additional Free Spins.
Our Verdict
With so many Egyptian slots available to you, it’s hard to know which ones are worthy of your hard-earned cash. When we come into contact with a new Egyptian title, we’re instantly expecting a Book style format as seen in Book of Dead and Legacy of Dead. Secrets of Memnon breaks tradition, opting for the standard 5 reels and limited pay lines.
Secrets of Memnon does come across as a little outdated in terms of design, but the mechanics and features it utilises are modern and enjoyable. As a result, it’s unlikely to win any Game of the Year awards, but it’s not the worst we’ve come across either. The Low Volatility rating, combined with the 96.29% RTP and max win cap of 2,064x your bet should give you plenty of bang for your buck, but the disappointing max win cap will certainly leave a bitter taste in your mouth.
Our conclusion of Secrets of Memnon is that it’s a fairly low-key game that won’t appeal to everyone, but it may find its way onto the playlist of loyal Light & Wonder fans.
