ELK Studios takes us on a trip down memory lane, to a time when video games like Space Invaders and Galaxia were all the rage. The old-school gaming vibe has slowly integrated itself into the iGaming industry, with Nolimit City and Relax Gaming taking a stab at it in Space Donkey and Line Busters Dream Drop.
In Orbitfall, you will face multipliers, re-drops, symbol removals, big symbols, wilds, level progression, and a final battle feature, all packed into a potential max win of 7,500x your bet. Alien Attack and Lazer features are all part of the experience, combined through the cluster pays mechanic.

Base Game & Features
Orbitfall is a highly volatile 6-reel, 6-row Video Slot that facilitates a Cluster Pays mechanic and a combination of bet sizes between £.€0.20 and £.€100 per spin. Other attributes include an overall RTP of 94% and an average max win cap of 7,500x your bet.
Wins occur when 5-10+ matching symbols land either Vertically or Horizontally connected across the grid. There are a total of 8 High and Low-paying symbols, each producing payouts between 0.25x and 50x your bet. Wilds substitute for all symbols except Scatters, appearing in sizes 1×1 or 2×2.
Winning clusters are removed and replaced with new symbols from above, via an Avalanche Feature. The remaining symbols move vertically until they reach a resting position. This continues until no more winning clusters are created. Cluster wins destroy all non-paying Blockers, shooting vertically and destroying only 1 blocker per reel.
Levels
Orbitfall begins at Level 1 with 5 rows of symbols and 1 active Blocker row. As you level up, the game alters the number of Blocker rows that are active:
- Level 2: Awards 5 rows of symbols and 2 Blocker rows
- Level 3: Awards 5 rows of symbols and 3 Blocker rows
- Level 4 (final level): Awards 7 rows of symbols and 1 Blocker row
A game round advances to the next level when all Blockers are destroyed on the current level. Upon entering the next level, the remaining symbols on the 5 lower rows are carried over.
Feature Symbols
During each game round, certain Blocker symbols may contain special Feature symbols that are released when the Blocker is destroyed – these include:
- Re-Drops: Increases the Re-Drop counter. Once active, all symbols are replaced except for current Blocker symbols.
- Level Clear: Removes all other Blocker symbols, causing them to release their Feature symbols. This will also advance players to the next level.
- Multiplier Symbol: Increases the Global Multiplier which applies to all subsequent wins during the current game round.
Lazer Feature
In a game round, a regular 1×1 symbol may drop in carrying a special Lazer Feature. When this symbol is part of a winning cluster, it will charge the Lazer. Each Lazer charge is consumed at the end of a round when there are no more winning clusters present. It will also activate at the end of a spin during Free Spins, removing an entire row.
Alien Attack
The Alien Attack feature can occur at the end of a round when there are no more winning clusters, or at the end of a Free Spin. Once active, between 1 and 6 rows are randomly selected, causing all paytable symbols within those rows to be removed.
Big Symbols
During gameplay, Wilds and Paytable symbols exist in 3 sizes; 1×1, 2×2, and 3×3. All big symbols act as individual 1×1 symbol instances. Empty positions that occur above big symbols are filled with individual 1×1-sized symbols of the same type.

- Bonus Hunt: Each drop is 4 times more likely to trigger the Free Spins mode (3x your bet)
- Fleetcall: Guarantees a game round that begins at Level 2 (10x your bet)
- Bonus: Direct entry into the Free Spins round (100x your bet)
- Endless Annihilation: Guaranteed entry into the Super Free Spins round, where the final level is boosted with multiple features (500x your bet)
Free Spins
When a Bonus Scatter reaches the top symbol row, the Free Spins mode is triggered, awarding 5 Free Spins. Once triggered, the current Global Multiplier and any remaining Re-Drops are carried over to Free Spins. Please note, that this round cannot be retriggered.
Our Verdict
If you were lucky enough to own a retro games console and had access to much-loved games like Space Invaders and Galaxia, you’ll find strong links between them and Orbitfall. Blasting spaceships and eliminating aliens were all part of the fun and ELK Studios has brought it back to life in their latest release.
The retro design and functions of classic video games are consistent in games like this one, Space Donkey, and Line Busters Dream Drop. It won’t be long before many more software providers will take a stab at this particular genre, lining the iGaming market with a variety of retro games – if we’re lucky, we might find Pac-Man makes a return.
Even if you aren’t a big fan of retro games, Orbitfall will certainly rank high with players due to ELK Studios’ ability to conjure up thrilling features and exotic mechanics. Orbitfall has quite a collection of features available, including individual levels and special feature symbols.
The Alien Attack feature aids in the destruction of Blocker symbols which unlocks additional feature symbols hidden beneath them. Having an active Global Multiplier boosts each win significantly, which, during testing, we found it to yield impressive results.
