After what felt like a lifetime between the first and second instalments, Thunderkick hasn’t kept us waiting long for Midas Golden Touch 3, the latest release which transforms the sequel into a confirmed series. What will the King of Phrygia turn to Gold this time, and will he bestow his great fortune onto us?
Before Midas Golden Touch 2 came to light, Thunderkick graced us with Midas Golden Touch Christmas Edition, which dressed up the original release with all the Christmas bells and whistles. It was rewarding to see a familiar face return to our screens, but it wasn’t exactly the outcome we had hoped for. Quickly making up for this, Thunderkick has picked up the pace and returned with a brand new instalment of the series, but will it make up for lost time? Let’s play on and find out!
Base Game & Features
Midas Golden Touch 3 is a highly volatile 5-reel, 3-row Video Slot featuring 15 fixed Pay Lines and varying bet sizes between £.€0.10 and £.€100 per spin. Other statistics of note include an overall RTP of 94.16% and a sizable max win cap of 10,000x your bet.
A winning combination is secured when 3-5 matching symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. There are 4 High-paying and 6 Low-paying symbols available, each producing payouts worth between 1x and 75x your bet. Lastly, non-UK players will have access to Autoplay and Turbo Spin functions.
Wild Multipliers
Special ‘Hand of Midas’ Wild symbols appear on all reels, substituting for all symbols except Scatters. Any of the 15 active pay lines that include a Wild Multiplier will have its total win multiplied by the following outcomes:

- 2 Wild Multipliers: Award a x4 Multiplier

Gift of Midas Feature
The Gift of Midas feature is randomly awarded in the base game. Once active, between 1 and 5 Scatters or Multiplier Wilds are added to random reel positions. Please note, that this function is not available in the Free Spins mode.
Free Spins
Landing 3 or more Scatters anywhere in the base game triggers the Free Spins mode, awarding 5 Free Spins.
For 3, 4, or 5 triggering Scatters, the Epic Wild Multiplier below the main reel set awards a x2, x5, or x10 Multiplier respectively. Epic Wild Multipliers can only appear on reels 2, 3, and 4 during this round.
In addition to Epic Wild Multipliers, the Free Spins mode also has a distinct Power Recharge feature which activates at the end of every Respin sequence. This feature increases the Epic Wild Multiplier by +x1 and awards a further +2 Free Spins, up to a maximum of 5.
Lastly, the Retrigger Boost activates when 3 or more Scatters are collected during a spin, including Respins. This feature resets the number of Free Spins and increases the Epic Wild Multiplier by +x3, +x5, or +x8 for 3, 4, or 5 Scatters respectively. If the Power Charge is combined with the Retrigger Boost, it is applied after the multiplier increase.
Our Verdict
Midas Golden Touch 3 offers a distinct, classy aesthetic and pleasing sound effects that cement its place in the series. Besides a few cosmetic adjustments, this latest version feels a little too close to its predecessors. Truth be told, we feel Midas Golden Touch 2 has a much more charming and vibrant aesthetic.
In terms of how the game functions, Thunderkick has made certain promising alterations, yet not enough to differentiate it from the others. Wild Multipliers remain a permanent fixture, with little modifications made to the values they produce.
One promising aspect, however, is the return of the Gift of Midas Feature, where a number of Scatters or Multiplier Wilds can be randomly positioned on the reels. The original Midas Golden Touch was devoid of such a feature, among other functions, but it carries over from Midas Golden Touch 2 and may become another permanent fixture in future releases of the series.
