Base Game & Features
Roman Bonanza is a 6-reel, 5-row Video Slot offering a Scatter Pays mechanic and a combination of bet sizes between £.€0.10 and £.€100 per spin. Other noteworthy statistics include an overall RTP of 96.31% and a generous max win cap of 10,000x your bet.
Wins are guaranteed when 8-19+ matching symbols land anywhere across the grid, regardless of their position. Depending on the winning symbol, payouts between 0.1x and 400x your bet are awarded.
All wins to occur are removed and added to the Tumble Win above the main reel set, via an Avalanche Feature. After this, new symbols will fill the remaining gaps, potentially creating or enhancing additional wins in a single spin. The total win value is awarded at the end of each spin.
Catapult Feature
After a winning sequence occurs, special squares behind each winning symbol are highlighted. If there is a Catapult symbol in view, it will activate any highlighted squares after winning payouts have been awarded. The Catapult symbol only activates if there is or was a winning combination on the current spin.
Once active, each highlighted square will reveal a Multiplier Bomb symbol. These symbols will explode to reveal a random Multiplier, which is added to the total multiplier from top to bottom. Multipliers can either be Additive or Multiplicative.
There are 4 different types of Multiplier Bomb symbols available:
- Low-value Bombs: These symbols are additive and award Multipliers of x2, x3, x4, or x5
- Medium-value Bombs: These symbols are additive and award Multipliers of x10, x15, x20, or x25
- High-value Bombs: These symbols are additive and award Multipliers of x50, x75, or x100

Once all Multiplier Bomb symbols are revealed, the combined value is applied to the total Tumble Win and awarded.

Our Verdict
The desire for Roman-themed slots seems to be on the rise through Hacksaw Gaming’s OpenRGS platform. In a short space of time, we’ve engaged in Gladius: Death or Glory, Reign of Rome, and now this release. Although the theme remains the same, each release offers many distinct features and mechanics that separate them.
Roman Bonanza engages players in a simple Scatter Pays format and multiple Free Spins modes. Winning values are a lot smaller than an average payline or a ways to win slot, but these are amplified by Multiplier symbols, of which there are 4 to contend with. This feature is particularly reminiscent of Pragmatic Play’s Gates of Olympus slot, among others.
Another exciting element of gameplay is the 2 Free Spins modes available. Both the Arm the Catapults and Siege Command rounds utilise the same base game mechanics, but they offer a little something extra to make them more rewarding than the base game.
