Slot battles used to be about the spins, about the bonuses, about the grind. But something has changed this year; the battles at Fruity Slots have turned savage.

We’ve racked our brains trying to think of the reason why. Is it a streak of bad luck? Or is it because of Aisley, the newest recruit and balance destroyer extraordinaire, leaving carnage and empty balances in his wake?
But maybe, just maybe, it’s brutal for everyone else because I’ve been winning too much. You know what they say: Heavy is the head that wears the crown, and my head is certainly heavy with a total of 92 slot battle wins. It’s a big 13 more than the closest runner up, Josh, and almost a third more than Jamie, our resident scoundrel and cheater.
So far, 2025 has been brutal, but despite the odds, the live player keeps coming out on top. Let’s break down exactly why this year’s slot battles are the most brutal we’ve ever seen.
Growing Volatility
Volatility is on the up in slots. Remember the days when 5,000x used to be a standard max win? I do too.
Now it’s all about the big ones. The 20,000x+ games and Nolimit City monsters. Even the new standard has risen, with 10,000x as the max win for most new slots. The higher the max win, the higher the volatility, and with it bigger swings and bigger risks. The highs can be higher than ever, but the lows can be crushing.
I’m an optimist and a dreamer – I go into every game reaching for that max win, but often my dreams are crushed. Still, I’m once again safe in the knowledge that I hold the number one position. I look down from the podium at these losers, Josh, Jamie and Ais, with smugness, but a hint of pity. I can only imagine what single-digit x wins feel like when you’re already trailing behind.
The RTP Has Left The Building
Remember 96% RTPs across the board? We do too. It was the golden era, and the downward slope is a tough pill to swallow.
It feels like everything is launching with 94% or lower, which doesn’t sound too bad, but it makes a difference when you play online slots as often as us.
We’re not just fighting each other in these battles, but the maths of the game. I am, of course, the supreme winner, but there’s a higher power with more points than us all, the casinos with low RTPs.
Aisley is a Loser
I consider Aisley a dear friend, brother even. But he’s also the Destroyer of Balances, Slayer of Comebacks, Lord of the L’s and Archduke of Dead Spins.
Aisley will bet on red and black in Roulette and hit 0, find the 1% on a 99% RTP slot, and could probably lose a slot battle if he were the sole participant. We love Ais to bits, and his addition to the Fruity Slots team was nothing short of genius (facilitated and head-hunted by yours truly), but the casinos love him more.
There’s time for him to flourish, but we’re thinking of adding a clause to his contract that prohibits him from being on the same plane as Josh and Jamie, just in case. Good luck to him in future battles, but for now, he remains Captain Cold Streak.

Jamie Is A Cheat
Let’s call it what it is: Jamie is a cheat. In the spirit of the game, Jamie is morally bankrupt.
Only Ole knows the true extent to which Jamie cheats. We dare not open the can of worms, lest the slot battle lose all integrity, but we’re sure Jamie is buying a couple of cheeky supers, doing a couple of rebuys and skimming points off the top wherever he can.

He’s as cunning as a fox, but the live player is so far immune to his dirty tricks. It’s a testament to my own prowess that I still retain a lead while playing it straight and true, much like my dart throws.
Are slot battles brutal this year because Jamie is on a cheating spree? He’d never let you know it, but suspicions are high.
Perhaps Jamie from Fruity Slots will one day confess his own sins on his own confession segment of our new podcast, though the ability to absolve himself of any wrongdoing is classic Jamie injustice.
They’re Just Brutal For Everyone Else
It’s a tough time not to be Scotty. Slots might be a game of pure luck to everyone else, but to the Wizard, it’s just magic.
RNG stands for Random Number Generator if you’re an average mortal, but Reel Necromancy Genius if your name is Scotty.
To Josh, Jamie, and Ais, the people say “Good luck” and “Hope you win.”
and to all of them, I say:
Not While I’m Around.
