Jamie: Slingshot Studios has built a substantial catalogue. How do you decide which ideas get developed – and what tells you when a successful mechanic still has more to offer, versus when it’s time to start something new?
Richard: We start with the player. Every idea must answer one question early on: what is the player going to feel, and is that feeling strong enough to build a game around?
If we can’t answer that clearly, the idea isn’t ready yet. With a mechanic that has already worked, we look at how much it can still carry. If the format still has room to surprise us, and our team keeps coming up with combinations we haven’t tried, there’s more to give.
We don’t want a sequel to feel like more of the same. It should feel like the natural next chapter.
Jamie: How did the CASHINGO™ concept first come about, and what has made it versatile enough to use across different games?
Richard: CASHINGO™ came from wanting to give players something to build toward, not just spin for. Grid-based line completion is instantly familiar: you know what you’re aiming for as soon as you see it.
Pairing that with Cash Orbs and Jackpot Orbs created a constant sense of progress. That simplicity is what makes it versatile. The core idea is easy to understand, so we can layer different features, themes and bonus structures on top without losing the player. It’s a strong foundation, and that gives us a lot of creative freedom.
Jamie: Eruption Blaze CASHINGO Rumble™ is a sequel to Eruption Blaze CASHINGO™. What did you most want to build on or change for this release?
Richard: With the original Eruption Blaze CASHINGO™, the goal was to take the core of CASHINGO™ and give it more room to develop. With Eruption Blaze CASHINGO Rumble™, we wanted to turn up the intensity.
We looked closely at the moments that worked best – the grid filling up, the anticipation of a line about to complete – and asked how we could make them bigger and more frequent.
The Bonus Booster builds the CASHINGO™ multiplier up to 200x, and in 500x Free Spins a fixed 500x multiplier is distributed across the grid before the first spin resolves. That adds a real sense of potential and excitement.

Jamie: The CASHINGO™ grid builds across spins, and the Bonus Booster adds another layer on top. How did you decide on the pace of those two?
Richard: Pacing was one of the things we spent the most time on. The CASHINGO™ grid is the slow burn: it builds across spins and gives the player something to follow. The Bonus Booster sits on top of that and needs to feel like a reward, not noise. If both move too fast, nothing lands. If both move too slowly, the energy drops.
Finding the point where each one complements the other took a long time, so that the grid keeps building and the Booster delivers the payoff.
Jamie: HOT MODE™ can arrive at random or after a countdown, and turns the reels over to Orbs only. What were you going for with a feature that can show up unannounced?
Richard: HOT MODE™ can arrive in two ways: at random during the base game, or on a countdown. Either way, it turns the reels over to Orbs only and adds extra ones, so there are more chances to complete a CASHINGO™ set while it runs.
We liked the idea of a feature that can change the shape of a session without the player having to do anything – it arrives, the board changes, and then it’s gone again.
Jamie: What does the “Rumble” part of this game mean from a player’s point of view?
Richard: Rumble is about energy. It’s the feeling that something is building under the surface and could break loose at any moment.
For players, it means the game always feels alive, even between big moments. You can feel the pressure building, and that’s exactly what we wanted the volcano theme to deliver.
Jamie: Which recent Slingshot Studios game taught the team the most, and what was the challenge?
Richard: Every game teaches us something. We like exploring new ideas and new combinations of features, and those combinations often create complexity – systems interacting with each other in ways you don’t fully see until they’re together.
How the player experiences all of that is what matters, so the thing we learn most about is balance, and getting it right for each individual title.

Jamie: What can you share about Slingshot Studios’ plans for 2027? Are there particular mechanics, themes or markets you want to explore?
Richard: I can’t give too much away, but 2027 is shaping up to be an exciting year for us.
We’ll keep investing in our established series, where there’s still a lot of potential. We’re also exploring new ideas around player choice and connected features, letting players shape their own experience. Whatever we do, the goal stays the same: games with a clear purpose that players enjoy.
Jamie: What do streamers notice about a slot that doesn’t show up anywhere else?
Richard: Streamers notice the moments in between. A maths sheet can tell you hit rates and win potential, but it can’t tell you whether the build-up is exciting to watch, whether an audience can follow what’s happening, or whether a feature trigger gets the chat going.
Streamers feel the rhythm of a game in real time, with a live audience reacting alongside them. That tells us a lot about whether the game communicates its excitement clearly, and that’s invaluable feedback.
Jamie: When FruitySlots plays Eruption Blaze CASHINGO Rumble™ live, which feature do you think will make the best viewing, and how could our video content help introduce the game to players unfamiliar with CASHINGO™?
Richard: An intense CASHINGO™ round in Free Spins, with a big multiplier distributed across the grid, is the one I’d want on camera. It builds to a real crescendo – you can see the lines about to complete before they do.
As for introducing CASHINGO™ to people who haven’t played it, the format explains itself once you watch someone play. Super Hot Orbs land on the reels and transfer onto the grid above, and completing a row – horizontal, vertical or diagonal – awards the values in it, with the jackpots embedded in the grid itself.
That’s the whole rule set, and it’s far quicker to pick up from watching a board fill than from anything we could write. A streamer filling the grid live does the explaining for us.
