Base Game & Features
Bass Boss Megaways is a highly volatile 6-reel Video Slot with up to 117,649 ways to win and a combination of bet sizes between £.€0.20 and £.€20 per spin. Other statistics of note include an overall RTP of 95.68% and a generous max win cap of 25,539x your bet.
Matching symbols with 3+ instances trigger wins when they land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel, including those within the additional Sliding Reel. This game has 4 High-paying and 5 Low-paying symbols available, each producing payouts between 0.05x and 2.5x your bet.
An Avalanche feature removes and replaces winning combinations, including those on the Sliding Reel, with new symbols. This feature occurs frequently and enables players to produce multiple wins within a single spin.
Catch!
Above the main reel set sits the Bass Boss who randomly casts his fishing rod into the water during or after a spin, in an attempt to catch Fish (money) Scatters. The float of his fishing rod is positioned over a random reel and collects all Fish Scatters that appear directly below it.
Randomly, at the end of a spin or Avalanche event where there is no win, the Bass Boss may cast his fishing rod toward Fish Scatters or Special Symbols to catch them.
Fish Scatters
Fish Scatters appear on all reels except the additional Sliding Reel, displaying a random Instant Prize as follows:
- Grey Fish Scatters: Reveal values of 0.5x, 1x, 2x, and 3x your bet
- Blue Fish Scatters: Reveal values of 5x, 6x, 7x, and 10x your bet
When a Fish Scatter is caught by the Bass Boss, its corresponding Instant Prize is immediately awarded.
Groundbait
Occasionally, before the Bass Boss casts his fishing rod, he can throw special Groundbait into the water, attracting many Grey and/or Blue Fish Scatters to the reels, with at least 1 Fish Scatter guaranteed per reel.
Improved Float
In the base game, random Multipliers between x2 and x10 can be applied to the float of the fishing rod. Any Fish Scatters that are caught at this time will have their Instant prize values multiplied by the respective Multiplier.
Sliding Reel & Special Symbols
The Sliding Reel located at the bottom of the main reel set holds 4 paytable symbols and other Special Symbols as follows:
- Green Fish Scatters: Reveals instant prize values between 15x and 30x your bet.
- Orange Fish Scatters: Reveals instant prize values between 50x and 200x your bet.
- Golden Catfish: Awards an Instant Prize of 500x, 750x, 1,000x, or 2,000x your bet.
- Fish School Scatter: Transforms all symbols on the reel above, including itself, into Grey or Blue Fish Scatters. All Fish Scatters positioned by the Fish School symbol are caught by the Bass Boss.
- Underwater Mine Scatter: When caught by the Bass Boss, the Underwater Mine symbol explodes and all Fish Scatters on the reels are collected and awarded.
- Instant Contest Spins Scatter: Instantly trigger the Free Spins mode.
Bonus Buy
Non-UK players can utilise the Contest Spins bonus buy option for an additional 110x their current bet. This option guarantees 3 or more Bonus Scatters to appear across the reels, thus triggering Free Spins.
Contest Spins
Landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 Bonus Scatters in the base game triggers the Contest Spins mode, awarding 10, 15, 20, and 25 Free Spins respectively.
During this round, the Bass Boss will cast his fishing rod in the water on every spin. A special Progress Bar is available in this round, tracking the number of Fish Scatters caught throughout the feature. The Progress Bar has 4 designated milestones that require a number of Fish Scatters to activate:
- Level 1: Requires 12 Fish Scatter to award a x2 Multiplier
- Level 2: Requires 13 Fish Scatters to award a x3 Multiplier
- Level 3: Requires 14 Fish Scatters to award a x5 Multiplier
- Level 4: Requires 15 Fish Scatters to award a x10 Multiplier
The current Multiplier Level is persistent during the remaining spins for this round, applying to the Instant Prize of all Fish Scatters caught by the Bass Boss. Each Level achieved through the Progress Bar awards an additional +8 Free Spins respectively.

Our Verdict
It feels like a while since we’ve reviewed a Megaways game, and even longer still since we had a seemingly neverending swathe of standard cascading reels, increasing multipliers and mystery symbols – aka the vanilla Megaways experience
Bass Boss Megaways certainly gives you that Megaways feel, but it’s by no means a standard Megaways slot. Peppered within it is features like the Fish School, Underwater Mine and a Reel at the bottom of the standard reel set that acts to land instant prizes or scatter symbols.
Fishing slots are here to stay, and immensely popular with audiences at UK Casinos. Is it a revolutionary slot? No. Will be a defining milestone in the history of fishing games? No, but it’s a nice little addition to Red Tiger’s portfolio, and certainly one that can be proud of.
