After a handful of creative releases, it’s hard to believe that Backseat Gaming is still relatively new to the slots industry, becoming a part of Hacksaw Gaming’s OpenRGS platform and releasing their first-ever release, Lord Venom, in May of this year.
Since then, Backseat Gaming has released many innovative slots that have similar traits to many Hacksaw Gaming titles. Although Hacksaw Gaming didn’t create Blade Master, they did have a hand in its distribution.
Blade Master Base Game and Features
Blade Master is a 5-reel Video Slot with 19 active pay lines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbol types land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
Blade Master has a minimum bet of £.€0.10 per spin and a maximum bet of £.€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.29% and a max win cap of up to 13,000x.
The highest-paying symbol here is the Purple Monster, followed by Green, Yellow, and Blue Monsters. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten. Wilds substitute for all High and Low-paying symbols.
Blademaster Feature
The Blademaster Feature can randomly trigger during both the base game and Free Spins round. Once active, between 2 and 5 Wild Multipliers will appear on the reels (max 1 per reel).
In the base game, the value of each Wild Multiplier can be anywhere between x2 and x10. If the Blademaster feature activates in Free Spins, the sum of the Wild Multipliers will equal the total of the Global Win Multiplier.
Wild Multipliers will multiply all wins they are a part of. If more than one Wild Multiplier is part of the same win, their values will be added together and applied to the win.
Blade Master Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatters in the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10, 12, and 14 Free Spins respectively.
During Free Spins, a special Global Win Multiplier starting at x2 is active. Landing Blue Flags during this time will increase the Global Win Multiplier, up to a maximum of x50. Blue Flags will land with +2, +3, +4, +5, or +10 attached to them.
Each free spin will award a Wild Multiplier equal to the Global Win Multiplier that is placed on a randomly chosen reel, unless the Blademaster feature activates. When this happens, the Global Win Multiplier will split into 2-5 Wild Multiplier symbols that spread onto the reels.
Landing 3 Scatters during this time will award an additional +5 Free Spins.

Blade Master: Our Verdict
Backseat Gaming are still very much in their infancy in the slots industry, but looking at the quality of their games, you wouldn’t always think so. Games like Fireborn and Commander of Tridents are positive signs of future success, but will Blade Master keep the momentum going?
As soon as you load Blade Master up, you’re met with an outstanding graphical design that quickly draws you in, topped off with dramatic sound effects and a gripping soundtrack that gears you up for battle.
Given that Backseat Gaming uses Hacksaw Gaming as a portal for their releases, it’s not surprising they have adapted their games to look and feel like a Hacksaw special. Wild and Global Win Multipliers are a common occurrence in Hacksaw slots, which now seem to be the running trend in Backseat Gaming titles.
The Blademaster feature is randomly awarded in the base game and Free Spins round that spits out 2-5 Wild Multipliers, each with a value of up to x10. During Free Spins, the sum of the Wild Multipliers will equal the total of the Global Win Multiplier.
On a good day, Blade Master can produce max wins of up to 13,000x your bet. This figure is slightly less than 3/4 of their previous releases, but it’s not a figure you would frown upon if you’re lucky enough to hit it.
