Cursed Chests

During the base game, special Cursed Chests can land randomly across the reel set. Cursed Chests will unlock to create a Cursed Area from their current position to the top of the reel, if the Cursed Area would include at least 1 winning combination.

Once unlocked, Cursed Chests will reveal a cursed Multiplier between x2 and x200 that is applied to the Cursed Area on that particular reel. All winning pay lines with a symbol in the cursed area are then multiplied by the revealed Multiplier in the cursed area. If a winning combination has more than 1 cursed Multiplier, both multiplier values will first be added together and then applied to the win.

Cursed Seas Sunken Treasure Free Spins

Cursed Seas Free Spins

Landing 3 Lantern Scatters across the reels triggers the Sunken Treasure Free Spins round, awarding 10 Free Spins.

During Free Spins, Cursed Chests are present. When they land, they always unlock to create a Cursed Area that is persistent until the end of the Free Spins round. Each new Cursed Chest that lands below the cursed area will increase the cursed area for that reel.

All cursed Multipliers that are revealed from Cursed Chests will be added to a Total Multiplier above the reels, which affects all cursed areas. All winning pay lines that pass through a cursed area will be multiplied by the Total Multiplier.

Landing 2, 3, and 4 Lantern Scatters during this time will award an additional +2, +4, and +6 Free Spins.

Dead Men Tell No Tales Bonus

Landing 4 Lantern Scatters across the reels triggers the Dead Men Tell No Tales Bonus, awarding 3 Lives. This round removes all High and Low-paying symbols, leaving only special Skull and Kraken symbols in play.

Above each reel sits a Multiplier value that starts at x1 and can be increased throughout the round. Landing a Cursed Skull symbol will reveal a Multiplier between x1 and x500 that is applied to the Total Multiplier above that particular reel that it landed on, creating a Cursed Area up to the top of the reel.

If a Tormented Skull lands in view, it will reveal a Multiplier value between x2 and x25 that automatically multiplies the Total Multiplier for that particular reel. If a Kraken symbol should land, it will reveal a Multiplier value between x1 and x500 that is applied to the Total Multiplier above each of the reels.

Whenever a special Skull or Kraken symbol lands on the reels, it will automatically reset all 3 Lives back to full. At the end of the round, all Multiplier values above each of the reels will be added to all Cursed Area positions on their corresponding reels. All Multiplier values in the cursed areas will be multiplied by your current bet to determine the awarded total win.

Cursed Seas: Our Verdict

Cursed Seas catches our attention thanks to Hacksaw Gaming’s creative talents when it comes to design and graphics, but it’s not quite as captivating as Hand of Anubis or Undead Fortune in our opinion.

Cursed Seas can definitely be classed as one of Hacksaw Gaming’s darker titles, but to give it even more of an edge, an animated Kraken or Captain floating in the background wouldn’t have gone amiss

Hacksaw Gaming never disappoints when it comes down to the nitty-gritty of gameplay, with Cursed Seas having a thrilling Cursed Chests feature and multiple Free Spins rounds.

The Sunken Treasure round is an enhanced version of the Cursed Chests feature and is the least thrilling of the 2 Free Spins rounds in our opinion, but that doesn’t mean it can’t deliver a decent amount of potential when it gets going.

Some may say that the Dead Men Tell No Tales round is a lot like Chaos Crew in some respects, and they’re not entirely wrong. Just like Chaos Crew, the aim is to land as many Skull and Kraken symbols as you can in order to boost the Total Multiplier values atop the reels, with a special Kraken symbol that adds its multiplier value to all reels. There is one big difference though, that being the Cursed Areas.

Overall, Cursed Seas is another Hacksaw Gaming classic with recognizable yet new elements to keep things fresh.
