ReefPop Slot Review 2024

Get ready to dive into deep and dangerous waters where you will witness bubbly conflict between the sea animals, in ReefPop courtesy of AvatarUX!

On the outside, the deep blue sea looks peaceful and calm, but below the surface, there is a war brewing among the underwater creatures that inhabit it. The crabs, shrimps, crayfish, and lobsters have come to invade the Reef, but the noble fish will not give it up without a fight.

ReefPop is another to join AvatarUX’s extensive collection of PopWins titles, but will what feels like the hundredth time be the charm? Let’s play on and find out!

ReefPop Base Game

ReefPop Base Game and Features

ReefPop is a 6-reel slot with up to 262,144 ways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right or right to left, starting from the leftmost or rightmost reels.

The minimum bet available here is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.  ReefPop has a theoretical RTP of 96.00% and a max win cap of 10,000x.

In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Shark, followed by the Octopus, Orange Fish, and Red Fish. Medium-paying symbols fall to Teal, Blue, and Green Fish symbols. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, and Queen. There are no Wild symbols present in ReefPop.

ReefPop is another of AvatarUX’s titles to feature their beloved PopWins mechanic. Each time a winning combination forms, all winning symbols will be removed from the reels and replaced by 2 new symbols, increasing the reel height.

This will continue until there are no more winning combinations formed. The reels can expand up to 6 symbols high in the base game and up to 8 symbols high in the Free Spins round.

ReefPop Free Spins

Once all 6 reels have reached their maximum height of 6 symbols high in the base game, the Free Spins round will automatically trigger, awarding an Unlimited number of Free Spins.

The Free Spins round will start off with all reels at 4, 5, and 6 symbols high, and can increase up to 8 symbols high in total. The progress made in unlocking the reels during this time does not fully reset between each spin.

During Free Spins, an active Multiplier starting at x1 is in play. After wins are paid, with each new Free Spin, the Win Multiplier will increase by +1. The new Win Multiplier does not reset between spins.

Golden Shark Payouts

Whenever a Gold Shark symbol lands in view during this time, it will reveal a random Multiplier equal to the total number of Gold Shark symbols in view.

Once a reel reaches its full height, the Gold Sharks Multiplier will increase by +x2 per number of Gold Sharks across the reels.

Gamble Wheel

Before the Free Spins round can begin, you will be given the option to Gamble your Free Spins using the Gamble Wheel.

Winning the gamble will award higher starting reels, but losing the gamble will return you to the base game empty-handed.

Winning the first gamble will increase your reel heights from 4 to 5. Winning the second gamble will increase your reel heights from 5 to 6.

ReefPop Slot: Our Verdict

ReefPop is an enjoyable release, but no more than others in the PopWins catalogue.

If anything, ReefPop feels like a bit of a side-step, with no real features to further the success of the PopWins series. The nautical theme certainly has appeal, but compared to some of the smash hits of the PopWins series, ReefPop feels a little forgettable.

Through testing ReefPop ourselves we saw how it could potentially ‘reel in’ some fans, but if you’re an aficionado of the PopWins series then you may well find what you’re looking for elsewhere in the Avatar UX catalogue.

Overall, ReefPop isn’t quite a smash hit in our eyes, but it’s an entertaining addition to the ever-growing PopWins series.
