Argonauts Slot Review
Argonauts by Pragmatic Play plunges players into the legendary world of Greek mythology with a feature-driven experience built around symbol collection and multipliers. Released in August 2025, this 5-reel, 4-row slot operates on 1,024 ways to win and delivers medium volatility gameplay that balances bonus potential with reasonably steady base game action. The game’s standout appeal lies in its Money Symbol collection mechanic and Wild Collector multipliers, making it appealing for players chasing adrenaline-fueled wins without lengthy waits between payouts.
Base Game & Features
Argonauts operates on a standard 5×4 reel grid with 1,024 ways to win, meaning symbols line up across any adjacent positions rather than traditional paylines. The base game’s core mechanic revolves around Money Symbols, which display random values ranging from 0.5x to 50x your bet. These symbols form the foundation of the game’s win system and trigger the prized Respin Feature when you land 6 or more across the reels. Whilst base game hits occur roughly once every 5 spins (20.37% hit frequency), the real action is reserved for the bonus feature.
Money Symbols & Wild Collectors
The Money Symbols are the heart of Argonauts’ mechanic. When 6 or more appear on the reels, they lock in place and trigger the Respin Feature. During these moments, Wild Collector symbols become crucial to maximising wins. These Wilds collect the values of adjacent Money Symbols and apply multipliers ranging from x2 to x2,000, creating the potential for significant payout spikes. The multiplier range means a Money Symbol valued at 50x bet combined with a x2,000 multiplier reaches extreme win potential. Each additional Money Symbol collected increases the multiplier by +1x, rewarding players who fill the reels strategically.
Betting Range & Game Configuration
Bets range from a minimum of 0.20 to a maximum of 240 per spin, accommodating both cautious players and high-stake adventurers. The game’s RTP sits at 96.47% in the standard version, which is above the industry average and provides fair theoretical returns. Alternative versions with 95.50% and 94.52% RTP are available for different markets and player preferences. The minimum win hit frequency of 20.37% means you’ll experience regular small wins, but much of the session value comes from the bonus feature triggering and delivering multiplier-powered payouts.
Argonauts Respins Feature
The Respin Feature is what elevates Argonauts beyond average money symbol slots. Triggered by landing 6 or more Money Symbols in the base game, you receive 3 respins initially. The respin counter resets each time a new Money Symbol or Collector hits the reels, giving you multiple opportunities to extend the feature and build wins. The tension-building design is particularly engaging: the screen creeps toward being full, your respin count teases the brink, then a single coin drop resets your hope and keeps the action flowing. When the feature ends–either from exhausting all respins or achieving a complete screen fill–winnings are calculated and paid out immediately.
Screen Fill Bonus & Maximum Win Potential
The ultimate achievement in Argonauts occurs when Money Symbols completely fill the screen. When this happens, all Money Symbol values receive a x2 multiplier, and the feature ends. This screen-fill mechanism often represents the highest point of the bonus round. The theoretical maximum win reaches 10,000x your bet, though this extreme payout occurs at a hit frequency of just 1 in 3,166,561 spins. Realistic wins during the bonus feature typically come from Wild Collectors with moderate multipliers (x50 to x500) collecting mid-range Money Symbols (5x to 20x). Whilst the 10,000x max win is impressive on paper, larger Money Symbols than 10x seemed rare during testing, meaning the winning potential depends significantly on Wild Collector appearance, which can limit bonus game potential if Wilds don’t land at critical moments.
Bonus Buy Feature
For players wanting to skip the grind of base game spins, Argonauts offers a Bonus Buy feature. For 60x your current bet, you can purchase the Respin Feature directly and guarantee a minimum of 6 Money Symbols to kickstart the action. With bonus triggers averaging only every 193 spins, the 60x cost represents a steep price to bypass the filler. However, given the game’s medium volatility, it’s an attractive shortcut for players chasing that explosive moment without enduring long dry spells. The Bonus Buy RTP remains consistent at 96.46%, confirming that the feature offers fair value relative to its cost. Notably, streamers frequently feature the bonus buy in big win videos and YouTube compilations, making it the most visible aspect of Argonauts’ gameplay mechanics.
Our Honest Verdict
Argonauts stands as a competent money symbol collection game from Pragmatic Play–solidly executed but falling short of being a standout release. The core mechanics work well: Money Symbols trigger respins, Wild Collectors apply multipliers, and the screen-fill bonus adds a celebratory finish. For medium-volatility players seeking feature-driven gameplay with genuine multiplier potential, Argonauts delivers a rewarding experience without demanding extreme patience. The respin mechanic’s tension-building design is genuinely engaging, particularly when multipliers climb toward x1,000 territory.
However, Argonauts feels closer to shelf filler than a collector’s slot expected to challenge the champions of the genre. The 20.37% hit frequency creates noticeable gaps between base game action, and the maximum win potential depends heavily on Wild Collector appearance–multipliers mean nothing if the Wilds don’t land when Money Symbols fill the reels. Whilst the polished presentation is typical of Pragmatic Play’s standards, the theme execution feels somewhat generic rather than capturing the boldness of legendary Greek adventurers. The game doesn’t try to be everything at once; it’s specifically designed for medium-volatility players, feature hunters, and those chasing large jackpots. It’s less suitable for players seeking very frequent payouts or completely steady, low-risk sessions.
For those who enjoy calculated risk and the potential for explosive rewards, Argonauts delivers a well-executed alternative. The 96.47% RTP provides fair returns, and the bonus buy feature–whilst expensive at 60x bet–offers streamers and impatient players an attractive shortcut to action. Overall, Argonauts represents average rather than exceptional within Pragmatic Play’s portfolio, making it a reasonable title for fans of the money symbol format but not a must-play for casual slot enthusiasts.
