Badger Miners Slot Review 2024
A group of tenacious Badgers are on a mission to strike Gold in Yggdrasil Gaming’s latest release, Badger Miners!
Taking it in turns to dig deep into the Mountain, the Badgers take it in turns to haul carts full of glorious Gold…and cash. Buried deep in the mine below, Mutlipliers appear above each of the middle 3 reels where Cash Wilds can be unearthed.
Many players have tried and failed to win themselves a ton of Gold in one of the many Gold Digging-themed slots on the shelves, but none have ever had a team of hard-working badgers on their side to get the job done.
iSoftBet’s beloved character Gold diggin’ Gus got us so far, but now it’s Yggdrasil Gaming’s turn to finish the job, but are we up for the hazardous task? Let’s play on and find out!
Badger Miners Base Game and Features
Badger Miners is a 5-reel slot with 243 ways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The minimum bet available here is £.€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€50 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. Badger Miners has a theoretical RTP of 96.00% and a max win cap of 10,000x.
In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Badger in the Red Hat, followed by the Badger in the Blue Hat, a Pickaxe, Shovel, and Lunchbox and Drinks Flask. Low-paying symbols fall to Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Teal, and Blue Nuggets. Wilds substitute for all High and Low-paying symbols from the paytable.
Multipliers
Above the middle 3 reels sits colour-coded Multiplier values that are separated into 3 categories of Low, Medium, and High. With each new spin, random Multiplier values are selected within the 3 categories.
During this time, special Plus and Times operator symbols can randomly appear between Multiplier values. When this happens, a Hamster will appear above the Multiplier values and Add or Times 2 or more of the Multiplier values together to form one unique value. The sequence in which the operator symbols work is always from left to right.
These Multiplier values are essentially useless until Cash Wilds reach the top which will then apply the current Multiplier value for that reel onto the Cash Prize attached to the Cash Wild.
Wild Respins
Cash Wilds in the form of mining carts can appear at random on the 3 middle reels only. When they appear, they will reveal a random Cash Prize on them.
If a Cash Wild symbol is part of a winning combination, the win is paid and a Respin will begin. During the Respin, all present Cash Wilds in view will move up one position on the reel they are currently on. All Multiplier values at the top of the reels will remain the same during this time.
When a Cash Wild symbol reaches the top of the reel it is on, the Cash Prize attached to it is then multiplied by the total Multiplier value for that particular win and paid. If no Cash Wild symbols are involved in a winning combination, the Respin round will end.
Badger Miners Free Spins
Collecting 5 or more Dynamite Scatters during the base game will trigger the Free Spins round, awarding 7 Free Spins. Each additional Scatter after the 5th will award an extra +2 Free Spins.
Once the Free Spins round has been triggered, all non-completed Cash Wild symbols in view will remain on the reels at the start of the Free Spins round.
During Free Spins, Cash Wilds that do not successfully reach the top of the reel they are on during Respins will remain in view for the next Free Spin, with the same Cash Prize up for grabs.
Badger Miners Bonus Buy
Those outside the UK will benefit from a Bonus Buy option. Yggdrasil Gaming has granted players access to the Free Spins round for a total cost of 100x your current bet.
Badger Miners: Our Verdict
Well, we’ve seen our fair share of mining slots, but we can’t recall any that involved badgers. Badgers are quite proficient diggers, so perhaps they’re the best candidates to dig up those illustrious gems.
Badger Miners seemed fairly simple and straightforward, but not in such a way that made it boring. Seeing the low medium and high multiplier values along with Cash Wilds seems like a fairly interesting way to handle a feature that we’ve seen before, and it can certainly deliver when things go your way. The addition of the plus and times operator to further bolster those multiplier values wraps up the feature quite nicely to give the Base Game some much-needed appeal.
Yggdrasil builds upon this feature further in Free Spins with Cash Wilds that persist between spins, which makes the game much more exciting, as a free spins round should. We’d have liked to have seen a bit more in the way of features when it comes to Free Spins, like more multipliers or extended reels, but for the most part we’re impressed with Badger Miner and its capabilities.
Speaking of capabilities, the maximum win cap in Badger Miners is 10,000x, which seems quite attractive.
Overall, Badger Miners is by no means a blockbuster release, but it’s an interesting option should you find yourself in the new slots section of your favourite casino.
