Basketball King Hold & Win Slot Review 2024
iSoftBet has us jumping through hoops in their latest Hold & Win release, Basketball King Hold & Win!
We’re not all too familiar with Basketball so forgive us if we’re wrong, but we believe the King of Basketball iSoftBet is referring to is none other than LeBron ‘King’ James, a professional American basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA.
LeBron Raymone James, also nicknamed ‘ King James’ was born on the 30th December 1984. LeBron is considered to be one of the greatest basketball players in history and is often compared to the legend that is Michael Jordan. LeBron has won 4 NBA championships and has competed in 10 NBA Finals.
After taking a brief pause in all things Hold & Win, iSoftBet resumes their usual activities in Basketball King Hold & Win, but will it be a pleasant surprise all things considered? Let’s play on and find out!
Basketball King Hold & Win Base Game and Features
Basketball King Hold & Win is a 5-reel slot with 20 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The minimum bet available here is £.€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€20 per spin, with an average number of betting options in between the two. Basketball King Hold & Win has a theoretical RTP of 96.00%.
In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Basketball Player, followed by the Cheerleader, Basketball Hoop, Trainers, and Cap. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, and Nine. Wilds substitute for all other symbols except Scatters and Cash Fireball symbols.
Basketball King Wild Spin
During any random spin in the base game, the Basketball King Wild Spin feature can trigger.
Once active, Giant Wilds can spin through and land in view. When any giant Wilds do land, either fully or partially, they will produce multiple Wild symbols.
Hold & Win Respins
Landing 5 or more Cash Fireball symbols across the reels triggers the Hold & Win Bonus, awarding 3 Respins. Once active, all Cash Fireball values will be held in their positions for the duration of the round.
During the Hold & Win round, only Cash Fireball symbols are in play, and each time a new one lands in view, the Respins meter will reset back to 3. If no new Cash Fireball symbols land and the Respins count down to 0, the round will end and all Cash values will be paid.
Filling all 15 reel positions with Cash Fireball symbols will automatically award the MVP Award of 1,000x your bet.
Basketball King Hold & Win Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 Bonus Scatters across the reels triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10 Free Spins and a payout of 2x, 10x, and 100x your bet respectively.
During Free Spins, a special Coin Multiplier symbol comes into effect on reels 2 and 4 only. Multiplier symbols act as Wilds and will always land Stacked, with all 3 revealing an identical Multiplier value of x1, x2, x3, x5, or x10.
All wins that are formed (excluding Bonus Scatters) will be automatically multiplied by the value on the Multiplier Coin. Wins that are formed using more than 1 Multiplier Coin will be added together and applied, up to a maximum of x100.
Landing 3 or more Scatter symbols during this time will award an additional +5 Free Spins.
Basketball King Hold & Win: Our Verdict
If iSoftBet were indeed referring to LeBron James for this particular slot, they’ve not really done him much justice in our opinion.
Hold & Win games are a little tiresome, and while it has their appeal, it just doesn’t feel as exciting as other mechanics. iSoftBet have a long-established history of great Megaways slots, but for some reason they seem to heavily favour hold & win lately.
If it’s serving them well, then there’s no reason why they shouldn’t we suppose, but we still think it’s a little stale.
Basketball King has great graphics, so in the visual regard its quite an attractive game. It’ll draw players in on that alone, and many may find themselves intrigued to find out more. Those that strike lucky might hold it in high regard, but we’d be surprised if it enjoys any real longevity.
Overall, Basketball King Hold & Win is good, but it’s just short of great.
