Base Game & Features
Book of Abyss is the latest instalment from Just Slots, consisting of 5 reels, 3 rows, & 10 fixed pay lines. Paytable symbols create winning combinations when 2-5 matching symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1.
The highest-paying symbol falls to the Queen of Demons, followed by 2 additional Characters, Hearts, Handcuffs, Candles, & 4 Satanic Tiles. Once a winning combination has been obtained on the reels, a fixed payout between 0.3x and 150x your bet is awarded.
Additionally, Book Scatters act as Wilds on the reels, substituting for all symbols, except Expanding symbols, when completing a winning combination. Book Scatters pay 2x & 150x your bet when 2-5 land on the reels during a spin.
Book of Abyss: Free Spins
The Free Spins mode triggers when 3, 4, or 5 Book Scatters appear anywhere in the base game, awarding 10 Free Spins.
Before the round begins, a random high or low-paying symbol is chosen to become the Expanding symbol. Additionally, a random Multiplier between x1 and x100 is selected, depending on the number of triggering Book Scatters:
- 3 Book Scatters: Awards 1 Expanding symbol + a random Multiplier
- 4 Book Scatters: Awards 1 Expanding symbol + an initial Multiplier of x2 or higher
- 5 Book Scatters: Awards 1 Expanding symbol + an initial Multiplier of x10 or higher
Once the Expanding symbol & Multiplier have been applied, players will then enter a special Gamble Mode, where the Expanding symbol & Multiplier can be gambled individually or together. Of the 3 Gamble Wheels, only 1 can be used at a time, so choose wisely.
If the highest outcome is achieved on either Gamble Wheels, the Free Spins mode will begin. Alternatively, if any of the Gamble Wheels are unsuccessful, the player returns to the base game, empty-handed.
During Free Spins, each instance of the Expanding symbol will fill the entire reel it is currently on, but only when it creates a winning combination. Expanding symbols do not need to be adjacent to each other on the reels to award a payout.
Before each expansion payout is awarded, regular pay lines are evaluated first. Once all expanding symbols have filled their respective reels, the total payout is multiplied by the available Multiplier.
Landing 2, 3, 4, or 5 Book Scatters on the reels awards a further +3, +10, +15, or +20 Free Spins, respectively. Before the additional spins are awarded, a new Multiplier is selected between x2 and x100, which is added to the current Multiplier.

Our Honest Verdict
Book of Abyss is a classic Book slot in many ways, it’s the gameplay that you know and love, the ripple yet felt by Book of Ra’s influence across the industry, but with a few tweaks, as per Just Slots’ style.
Just Slots seemingly loves super high volatility, which is why Book of Abyss comes packed with a stunning max win of 150,000x, something few others are doing, in fact, only Nolimit City are doing these kinds of numbers.
How is it possible, you ask? Through the absolutely mammoth 100x multiplier on the Free Spins round, and a good symbol to go with it. It’s not an easy game, not forgiving, and nail-biting when you face those brutal gamble wheels. Either gamble up the multiplier and symbol separately, or together, if you fancy your chances. It requires some serious minerals to gamble, especially at the cost you’re facing for some of the better buys.
Strip back its layers and it’s a book slot through and through, and an enjoyable one at that. Play it the way you remember it, with the humble values and no multiplier, or gamble gamble gamble, just don’t hate on the game if you lose the bonus, the big red segments on the wheel is a warning that should be heeded sometimes.
