Book of Chilli – Oranje Jackpot Slot Review
A sunlit trattoria with arched windows, chequered tiles and a red wooden reel frame like a chalkboard menu – Book of Chilli – Oranje Jackpot spends its budget on the dining room, and that’s exactly the right call for a formula this old. Pragmatic Play haven’t reinvented the book slot here; they’ve dressed it in the warmest clothes it’s ever worn and quietly wired a four-tier progressive jackpot into the base game.
It runs on a 5×3 grid with 10 paylines, at medium volatility and 94.50% RTP all-in, with the jackpot contribution already counted inside that figure. Stakes start at 0.10 and reach 250.00 a spin. The maximum win is 5,000x the bet.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a classic ten-liner. Only the highest win per line counts, and wins pay left to right from the first reel.
All values are multiples of the line bet. Five of a kind is where the money is; two-of-a-kind wins exist only for the top three tiers.
- Chef (male) – 2 pays 1x, 3 pays 10x, 4 pays 100x, 5 pays 500x
- Chef (female) – 2 pays 0.5x, 3 pays 4x, 4 pays 40x, 5 pays 200x
- Chilli Sauce Bottle – 2 pays 0.5x, 3 pays 3x, 4 pays 10x, 5 pays 75x
- Bruschetta – 2 pays 0.5x, 3 pays 3x, 4 pays 10x, 5 pays 75x
- A / K – 3 pays 0.5x, 4 pays 4x, 5 pays 15x
- Q / J / 10 – 3 pays 0.5x, 4 pays 2.5x, 5 pays 10x
The Book of Chilli symbol is both wild and scatter, and it’s the busiest icon on the reels. As a wild it substitutes for every paying symbol. As a scatter it pays wherever it lands, on any of the five reels:
- 3 books – 2x total bet
- 4 books – 20x total bet
- 5 books – 200x total bet
Those scatter payouts are independent of paylines, so books don’t need to sit next to each other to pay. Three of them also open the free spins round, which is the game’s main event.
The Jackpot Bonus Game
Four progressive jackpots sit above the reels: Mini, Maxi, Mega and Giga. The bonus triggers at random at the end of any base game spin, so it needs no symbols and no alignment. Any stake from the 0.10 minimum upwards is eligible.
When it hits, a bonus screen appears and you open items until three carry the same jackpot name. That’s the one you’ve won. It can’t be won during any feature, which keeps it a base-game exclusive.
The four tiers climb from Mini up to Giga, and each one builds as qualifying play continues. Which tier the match-three reveal hands you comes down to what the screen hides, not what you pick, so there’s no skill in it – just the reveal.
Book of Chilli – Oranje Jackpot Free Spins & Bonus Buy
Three or more books anywhere on the reels award 10 free spins. Before the round begins, you pick one symbol to become the special expanding symbol.
During the round, after regular payouts are made, the special symbol expands vertically to cover all three positions on its reel. It then pays according to its paytable on all reels, including non-adjacent positions, which is what makes a full screen of expanded premium symbols possible. The expansion only happens when enough symbols are present for a win.
The order of events inside each spin matters:
- Land three or more books anywhere on the reels
- Pick your special expanding symbol
- Regular symbols pay first, at their normal values
- The special symbol then expands and pays on all reels
- Land three or more books again for 10 more spins, with no limit on retriggers
Bonus Buy
If you’d rather skip the wait, the free spins round can be bought from the base game. The buy awards the standard round with 10 starting spins and the expanding-symbol pick.
- Buy Free Spins – 100x current total bet, 10 free spins included
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.6/10
This is a game about waiting in a nice room. You spin ten lines, the trattoria glows, and every so often the books line up and the round you came for begins – and that round, with an expanding chef filling the reels and retriggers stacking on top, is the single reason to pick this over any other book slot on the shelf.
The jackpot is the smart bit of design: four progressive tiers that can drop after any base game spin, from a 0.10 stake upwards, without costing the feature a thing. The paytable is the weak point. A top symbol worth 500x the line bet is thin for this format, and with 94.50% RTP all-in, the trattoria is nicer than the returns.
Overall it lands in the middle tier of the book family – carried by its looks and its jackpot, not by what it pays. Play it if you love the expanding-symbol format or you’re hunting progressives on a small budget; give it a miss if you need a big theoretical ceiling before you sit down.
