Book Of Faith Slot Review
A cathedral spire dissolves into fog above slate rooftops, and a whole gothic town waits in half-dark beneath carved stone and gilt. In Book Of Faith, Wazdan have used that stillness as cover for something sharper: a cash-collector engine in which most of what lands on the reels pays nothing at all until the top row switches on. It’s the rare book slot where the book is the least interesting thing on screen.
The game runs on a 5×3 grid with that extra top row, 10 fixed bet lines, an RTP of 96.13% and a maximum win of 5,000x the bet. Volatility is player-selected rather than fixed. Sister titles like 9 Coins Grand Diamond Edition and Hot Slot: 777 Coins cover similar ground, though this one pushes the collector idea further than most.
How the Base Game Works
Wins are paid for at least three matching symbols on a bet line, running left to right on consecutive reels. Wins from different lines add together, and only the highest win per line is paid. The Scatter, the book of the title, substitutes for all symbols except Special symbols and Expanding Bonus symbols. Three or more of it anywhere on the reels opens the Free Spins feature.
The Cash and Jackpot symbols carry no line value of their own at all. They only pay when a Collector gathers them, which makes them dead weight in the base game and everything in the bonus.
- Cash symbols – prizes from 1x to 10x the bet
- MINI, MINOR, MAJOR and MEGA Jackpot symbols – each awards its corresponding jackpot from a four-step ladder, with MEGA at the top
Special symbols can also appear randomly during the base game with their own behaviour, collecting prizes from other symbols or sticking to the reels for up to ten spins. But they only actually pay inside the Free Spins feature. It’s a teaser structure: the base game shows you the machinery before you’re allowed to use it.
The Collector Row
The extra top row is the whole point of the game. Collector symbols can only be drawn there, and each one is assigned a random countdown value from 1 to 10. With every spin, the Collector accumulates the values of all Cash and Jackpot symbols drawn on the reels below it, and it keeps collecting until its countdown reaches zero. When that happens, the accumulated total is paid out.
The countdown is the tension. A Collector drawn with a countdown of 1 grabs whatever sits beneath it on the very next spin and pays out immediately. One drawn at 10 has a full run of spins to hoover up values, but every spin it survives without a Cash or Jackpot symbol landing below it is a spin wasted. The best outcomes come from a long countdown and a steady supply of value symbols beneath it.
A family of modifier symbols can land on the main reels and act on the Collector sitting above them. These are where the feature’s real depth sits:
- Multiplier symbols – multiply the total a Collector has gathered by 2x to 10x
- Countdown Booster symbols – add 3 to a Collector’s countdown, extending its run
- Collect to Infinity symbols – set a Collector’s countdown to infinity, letting it gather everything below it until Free Spins end
- Collector modifier symbols – randomly appear and affect the Collector on the reel above them
Free Spins
Drawing three, four or five Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels awards 10, 20 or 30 Free Spins respectively. The same combinations landing during the feature award the same again, so retriggering is fully open-ended on paper.
This is where the Collector row switches on properly. The Expanding Bonus symbol and the value of Bonus Cash symbols are randomly selected at the start of the round, and every Cash and Jackpot value that appears below a live Collector gets hoovered up rather than left stranded. The big question on any spin is whether a Collector’s countdown outlasts the symbols falling beneath it.
There’s a hard ceiling on the round. If the total win in a Free Spins round reaches 5,000x the bet, the round ends immediately, the win is awarded and all remaining Free Spins are forfeited.
Chance Level and the Buy Feature
The game is played with the base bet by default, but the Chance Level feature can be switched on during the base game at one of three levels. It multiplies the cost of every spin in exchange for a better shot at the bonus:
- Chance Level x2 – base bet multiplied by 2, at least a 2x higher chance of triggering Free Spins
- Chance Level x4 – base bet multiplied by 4, at least a 4x higher chance
- Chance Level x6 – base bet multiplied by 6, at least a 6x higher chance
The paytable isn’t affected by any of this. Symbol values stay exactly as they are for the base bet, in both the base game and Free Spins. It’s a pure trigger-rate purchase, paid spin by spin rather than in one lump.
For those who’d rather skip the waiting, a Buy Feature is available through the shop. It activates the Free Spins feature on Ultra and Extreme Volatility, settings characterised by even bigger wins than the other Volatility Levels and not otherwise reachable.
Volatility Levels and the Gamble
Volatility here is a dial you set yourself, and it genuinely changes the shape of the game rather than just the marketing. Low pays more frequently but mostly smaller amounts, and suits shorter sessions. High goes for big wins at a much sparser rate.
Standard sits between the two, for players who want the occasional big hit without the full drought.
Every win can also be put through the Gamble feature. Select one of two symbols, a draw determines the winner, and a correct pick doubles the win. You can bank after any round, and the whole ladder runs to a maximum of seven rounds, with the number of available rounds capped by the game’s maximum win.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.6/10
Book Of Faith is a waiting game played in lovely gloom. The base game deliberately pays like a drip, teasing Special symbols that don’t actually settle anything until the bonus arrives, and what separates it from a dozen other gothic slots is that top row: countdowns ticking, values stacking underneath, the whole round compounding while the fog rolls past the cathedral.
The strength is that build. A patient Collector with a Countdown Booster or an infinity modifier under it creates a slow swell most book games never manage, because their bonus peaks on one expanding symbol and this one keeps adding. The weakness is the disguise. The book framing promises expanding-symbol swings, and what’s actually here is a cash-collection game wearing vestments.
This is one for the patient accumulator, the sort of player who liked Wazdan’s coin games and wants the same rhythm in darker clothes. Classic book-slot chasers will find the opening act slow and the payout logic unfamiliar. Both are right, and the fog is deep enough for either to lose their way.
