Carnival Joker

Carnival Joker Slot Review

The joker is the only figure in the deck with an actual job, and at carnival time that job is keeping the crowd looking the other way while the parade goes past.

Carnival Joker is the second title in Slotmill‘s Legends series, played across five reels laid out 4-5-5-5-4 for 2,000 Bet Ways. RTP is 96.08% as standard, with a reduced 94.11% setting available to operators, volatility sits in the medium-high band, and the ceiling is 5,533x.

That description also fits Raging Riches, the Legends title that came first, almost line for line. Same grid, same RTP, same maximum, same pair of bonuses underneath.

Slotmill’s catalogue runs wider than the series, mind. Ultra Fruit Smash is one place to look if it’s the fruit symbols drawing you in.

Season of Fortune is another. Whether Carnival Joker is a second act or a second coat of paint, though, is the thing an hour of spins has to settle.

Base Game & Features

The outer reels are a row shorter than the three in the middle, which is what the 4-5-5-5-4 arrangement amounts to in practice. Wins pay left to right from the leftmost reel across adjacent reels, and only the highest combination per symbol is paid.

Symbols and Paytable

The Joker is the top symbol and the only one that pays for two of a kind rather than three. Below it, the Red 7 and the Lemon share a rung, then the Plum and the Cherries, then the card royals running from the Ace down to the 9.

Wild Symbols

Wilds land on reels 2, 3 and 4 only, and substitute for everything except the Bonus and Coin symbols. In the base game that’s the whole of their function. The multipliers they carry belong to the Free Spins Bonus.

Bet Range

Stakes run from 0.20 to 100 per spin across 22 bet levels, which covers most bankrolls without pushing far into high-roller territory at either end.

Burst Mode

Burst Mode is Slotmill’s own faster autoplay, built on the same engine and the same logic as normal play. It runs at a higher pace and shows only the total win for each round rather than the individual results.

You can stop it at any point, and the session result appears once the last round finishes.

Carnival Joker Free Spins & Bonus Features

Two bonuses sit behind the reels, and they trigger from separate symbols. Free Spins needs three or more Bonus symbols; Fortune Frenzy needs six or more Coins. Neither symbol turns up inside the other’s round.

Free Spins Bonus

Three Bonus symbols award eight free spins, four award ten and five award twelve. Landing two or more Bonus symbols during the round retriggers it, adding between three and six extra spins on top.

Coin symbols are absent from Free Spins entirely, so Fortune Frenzy can’t trigger from inside it.

Expanding Reels and the UP Symbol

The UP symbol lands on reels 2, 3 and 4 during Free Spins and adds a row to whichever reel it hits. Each of those reels can take two UP symbols, topping out at seven rows.

Once a reel reaches full height, two further free spins are awarded. With every middle reel fully expanded the grid runs to 5,488 ways.

Wild Multipliers

Wilds in the Free Spins Bonus carry a random x2 or x3 multiplier. It applies to every winning combination passing through that Wild’s position, so one Wild can multiply several wins on the same spin.

Fortune Frenzy Bonus

Six or more Coin symbols trigger Fortune Frenzy with three spins on the clock. Any new Coin that lands sticks in place and resets the counter back to three. When the spins run out, every Coin value on screen is collected and paid.

Coin values break down like this:

• Regular Coins: 0.5x to 10x bet
• Mini: 20x bet
• Minor: 50x bet
• Major: 250x bet
• Grand: 5,000x bet plus the sum of every Coin on screen, awarded for filling every position on the grid

Xtra-Bet

Carnival Joker has no bonus buy. Xtra-Bet is the route in for anyone who’d normally reach for one:

• Raises the base bet by 50%
• Doubles the trigger chance for both the Free Spins Bonus and Fortune Frenzy
• Wins are still evaluated on the base bet, not the raised total
• RTP with Xtra-Bet active: 96.32%
• Can’t be switched during a game round or while autoplay is running

Our Honest Verdict

Base spins were tolerable rather than gripping. Enough lands across 2,000 Bet Ways that an hour didn’t feel barren, but the interest came from counting Coins across the grid rather than from the wins themselves.

Fortune Frenzy started well, Coins arriving early enough to keep resetting the counter, then dried up over the final respins and finished solid rather than spectacular. It’s Hold & Win territory and it plays like it.

Free Spins is the reason to come back. Landing UP symbols on the middle reels and watching the grid physically grow, then getting one to full height and collecting the extra spins, is the only moment here that feels like progress instead of a fixed batch of spins.

Worth an hour for anyone who likes Bet Ways, expanding spins and a coin bonus without extreme variance. Anyone who’s put real time into Raging Riches has essentially played it already. The joker’s changed costume; the act hasn’t changed at all.

Overall Rating: 7.4/10
