Cash Falls: Add Em Up Chariots of Rome Slot Review
Rome has rarely been this hard to see. Chariots of Rome drowns its columns and scrollwork in near-black, keeps an arched emblem barely visible above the reels, and then spends almost nothing on the thing a Roman theme is usually asked to sell – the reel symbols top out at 2x the stake. Instead, Light & Wonder have pointed all of the game’s money at one place: coins that stick to the reels and count up. It’s a slot where the theme is the quietest element in the room, and that’s a genuine choice, not an accident.
The series has form here, with Cash Falls Add ‘Em Up Christmas and Cash Falls Outback Fortune both built on held coins. This edition runs at 95.97% RTP with high volatility, five reels of variable height and 4,608 ways to win. Sister titles like Spartacus Megaways and Montezuma cover nearby ground.
The Base Game and Its 4,608 Ways
Wins are calculated across 4,608 ways rather than fixed lines. Landing an identical symbol on 3, 4 or 5 consecutive reels from the left awards a win, with one exception: wilds pay from just two consecutive symbols. Wilds only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4.
Multiple instances of a winning symbol on a reel multiply the win. Two on the first reel, three on the second and two on the third counts as a three-of-a-kind with a 12x multiplier attached. Only the highest win per symbol is paid, and everything is multiplied by the total base bet.
The paying symbols are a short ladder, and it’s a modest one. Caesar leads, followed by the helmet and horn, then the four royals.
- Caesar: 0.2x for two, 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 2x for five
- Helmet / Horn: 0.2x for three, 0.5x for four, 1x for five
- A, K, Q, J: 0.1x for three, 0.2x for four, 0.4x for five
All of those are multiples of the total bet, not a line bet, so the top symbol pays 2x your stake for a full house. It’s the coins doing the heavy lifting in this game, not the reel symbols.
The Cash Falls Feature
Coins land on reel positions carrying cash values or jackpot labels. Whenever coins land on a reel, every coin on that reel is held in place for the next 3 spins. A counter at the bottom of the reel ticks down on each consecutive spin that brings no new coins.
If every position on a reel fills with coins, the Cash Falls feature triggers and awards the total prize value of all coins on that reel. Once it has paid, the coins on that reel are released and the build starts again.
Coin values differ by reel, and they improve noticeably on reel 5.
- Reels 1-2: 0.5x to 10x the stake, plus MINI, JACKPOT WHEEL and ADD ‘EM UP coins
- Reels 3-4: 0.5x to 20x, plus MINI, MINOR, JACKPOT WHEEL and ADD ‘EM UP
- Reel 5: 1x to 100x, plus MINI, MINOR, JACKPOT WHEEL and ADD ‘EM UP
Any single game’s combined wins are capped at a fixed cash amount, and the game is open that this cap may not be reachable from every bet configuration.
Add ‘Em Up and the Jackpot Ladder
The ADD ‘EM UP coin is the twist that gives the game its name. When it lands on a reel, it collects the values of all other coins on that reel, with one exception: it ignores the JACKPOT WHEEL coin.
If several ADD ‘EM UP coins land on one reel in a single spin, they’re evaluated one at a time from top to bottom, and each one includes the value of any ADD ‘EM UP coin before it. Stacked on a loaded reel, that sequencing sweeps several coins’ worth of value into one payout.
The Jackpots
Two coin types drive the jackpot side. A JACKPOT COIN simply awards whatever the jackpot meter is showing. A JACKPOT WHEEL coin triggers the wheel, which awards MINI with a 3-20x multiplier, MINOR with a 2-10x multiplier, MEGA, or MAJOR.
The ladder itself is fixed against your stake, and it’s a wide spread from bottom to top.
- MINI: 20x the bet
- MINOR: 50x the bet
- MAJOR: 500x the bet
- MEGA: 2,000x the bet
Free Games and the Pick Feature
The fiery lion bonus symbol is the ticket in. Three of them award 1x your total bet and 10 free games; four pay the same bet award with 12 games; five bring 15.
- Three bonus symbols: 10 free games
- Four bonus symbols: 12 free games
- Five bonus symbols: 15 free games
Inside the round, every coin that lands is held for the remainder of the Free Games, so the reels fill up rather than resetting. At the conclusion, the cash value or jackpot displayed on each coin is awarded.
Coin values also improve during free games: reels 1 to 4 carry coins from 0.5x to 100x, and reel 5 from 1x to 100x. The JACKPOT WHEEL coin doesn’t appear here, but MINI, MINOR and ADD ‘EM UP all do.
The Pick Feature
Fill every position on a reel with coins during the free games and the Pick Feature triggers for that reel before its prizes are paid. You pick coins that reveal MORE CREDITS, MINI, MINOR, a 2-5x multiplier, or COLLECT, and picking continues until COLLECT appears, which is guaranteed on or before the fifth pick.
MORE CREDITS adds a prize to a random coin on the reel, scaled by position.
- Reels 1-2: 1-10x the bet
- Reels 3-4: 2-15x the bet
- Reel 5: 4-15x the bet
MINI and MINOR drop a coin above the reel that adds that jackpot to the reel’s win. A multiplier applies to all current coin values on the reel, including any jackpot sitting above it, which is where the big reel totals come from.
When the Free Games end, the base game returns to exactly the state it was in before you entered, held coins included.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Most of your time here is spent watching counters, not reels. A reel fills coin by coin, the hold counter ticks down, and Caesar himself pays barely anything – which is fine, because the whole point is the build. Rome at midnight is the setting, but what you’re actually doing is collecting.
The free games are the best thing in it: everything locks, and a Pick multiplier applied to a full reel carrying a jackpot is where this game pays properly. The top jackpot, MEGA, sits at 2,000x the bet, and the game’s own rules state that any combination of wins in a single game is limited and will not exceed £250,000.00 – for a high volatility game that’s a short ladder to climb.
Collection-style players and Cash Falls regulars will be happy here. As a night in Rome goes, it’s a quiet one, and the coins make better company than the scenery.
