Chilli Heat Spicy Spins Slot Review
Things are heating up in Pragmatic Play’s latest addition to their much-loved ‘Chilli Heat’ series, in Chilli Heat Spicy Spins!
If you’re familiar with the previous two releases, you’ll notice that Pragmatic Play has kept most of the aesthetics entirely the same; however, each release (so far) has received enough differences in terms of features and mechanics.
Chilli Heat Megaways is by far the most appealing of the series, thanks to the inclusion of Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic. In this release, the 200,000+ ways to win have been traded for 10 fixed pay lines, but can it still deliver the right amount of heat? Let’s play on and find out!

Base Game & Features
Chilli Heat Spicy Spins is a highly volatile 5-reel, 3-row Video Slot with 10 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations occur when 2-5 identical symbols land on reels 1-5, across adjacent reels, starting from reel 1.
The reels consist of 10 high and low-paying symbols, each awarding a fixed payout between 0.5x and 200x your bet. Wild symbols appear on all reels and substitute for all symbols except Scatters.
Furthermore, Scatter symbols are responsible for triggering the Free Spins feature, appearing only on reels 1, 3, and 5. Lastly, special Money Icons appear via the Respin feature, fixed with values between 0.5x and 100x your bet.

Bonus Buy
Players within acceptable regions can purchase the Respins Feature for a fixed price of 100x their current bet. This allows 3 Scatter symbols to appear on reels 1, 3, and 5 in the next spin.
Utilising the Bonus Buy option guarantees a fixed RTP of 96.58%. In addition, Chilli Heat Spicy Spins has a max win potential of 10,000x your bet. If this figure is achieved, the current mode will end, and the player returns to the base game with the full amount.

Chilli Heat Spicy Spins Bonus
Triggering the Respins Feature requires 3 Scatters to land on reels 1, 3, and 5 in the base game. Instead of a fixed number of Free Spins, the round awards 3 Respins, which refill each time a new symbol appears.
In this round, the standard reel frame is replaced with a 5×5 matrix, removing regular symbols and leaving only Money Icons and Blank positions in play. Each Money Icon that falls on the grid will remain fixed in its position.
Furthermore, Money Icons that land on adjacent positions create groups, activating random Multipliers as follows:
- Groups 4-6: Multiplier of x2
- Groups 7-9: Multiplier of x3
- Groups 10-12: Multiplier of x5
- Groups 13-15: Multiplier of x8
- Groups 16-18: Multiplier of x10
- Groups 19-21: Multiplier of x20
- Groups 22-23: Multiplier of x30
- Groups of 24: Multiplier of x50
- Groups of 25: Multiplier of x800
Filling all 25 grid positions with Money Icons will award the max win potential of 10,000x your bet. The Respins feature ends when no more spins are remaining or all 25 positions are filled.
At the end of the round, the Group Multiplier is applied to the overall win before being paid out.

Our Honest Verdict
Chilli Heat Spicy Spins is a welcome addition to the popular ‘Chilli Heat’ series, but it doesn’t quite top its predecessors on the Scoville Scale. Prior to this, Pragmatic Play tapped into BTG’s Megaways mechanic, which authorised up to 200,000+ ways to win.
It’s quite a low-blow when you find the third instalment to represent fixed pay lines, let alone so few of them. Another disappointing factor is the lack of excitement throughout the base game.
Besides the frequent appearance of Wild symbols, the base game can be pretty stale. Furthermore, Scatter symbols are limited to reels 1, 3, and 5, which means triggering the Respins Bonus is a little more complex than previous instalments.
Another notable difference is the switch from Free Spins to a Respins Bonus. Depending on personal preference, you may consider this release a total write-off for this very reason; however, if you’re a big fan of Push Gaming’s Retro Tapes and Retro Sweets, you may want to reconsider.
Similar to the Cluster Link mechanic, the Respins Bonus guarantees to link Money Icons horizontally and/or vertically, generating a Multiplier between x2 and x100 depending on the number of linked prizes.
Our only dispute is that the grid is limited to 25 fixed positions as opposed to Push Gaming’s ‘Retro’ series. This means that there isn’t much wriggle room to connect Money Icons and implement bigger Multipliers.
All in all, Chilli Heat Spicy Spins offers new insights into much-loved features and mechanics, but it’s not the hottest slot within the iGaming market or Pragmatic Play’s portfolio at this moment in time.
