Cleocatra Slot Review 2024
The Queen of cats Cleopatra invites us on a journey to Ancient Egypt, where furry felines rule the reels, in Pragmatic Play’s latest release, Cleocatra!
Dog themed slots have had their five minutes of fame, now it’s time for Cats to shine. Although Cleocatra is not the first Cat themed slot to grace our screens, there is certainly room for more. Play’n GO’s Feline Fury and Snowborn Studios Cat Clans all hold a special place in this catergory, but will Cleocatra do the same?
In terms of design, Cleocatra may sound cute and cuddly, but these Egyptian kitties can deliver some ferocious bites and scratches when they need to. The background shows a beautiful view of Egypt in all its glory, with clear skies and an odd bit of scenery here and there. There is a perfect balance between the two themes, which have both been nicely done.
Egyptians believed that Cats brought good luck, but will that be the case for us? Let’s play on and find out!
Cleocatra Base Game and Features
Cleocatra is a 5 reel slot with 40 fixed paylines. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbol types from left to right, starting from the left-most reel. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.
In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Cleocatra is the Cat with the Pink background, followed by the Cats with Red, Green and Purple backgrounds, the Ankh and the Crook and Flail. Low paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten. There is also a Wild symbol present on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5, which substitutes for all symbols except Scatters. Each time the Wild symbol lands, it will award a Multiplier of x2 or x3.
Like many Pragmatic Play titles, the base game in Cleocatra has an exciting Respin Feature for players to enjoy. The Respin feature is not particularly a new feature in slots, but it’s one that can deliver big wins if you play your cards right. More on this below.
Respin Feature
During the base game, each time a Vertical Stack of one particular Cat symbol lands on Reel 1, it can automatically trigger a Respin.
All Cat symbols of the same type and any Wilds that may be present, will remain fixed in their positions for the duration of the Respin. All other reels will spin again until a minimum of 1 winnning combination with the Stacked Cat symbol is formed.
Cleocatra Free Spins
Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 8, 12 and 16 Free Spins respectively. 3 or more Scatter symbols will pay 5x your current bet.
During Free Spins, all Wild symbols that land on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 will remain fixed in their positions for the duration of Free Spins. All Sticky Wilds will land equipped with their own Multiplier of either x2 or x3, which will remain attached to them until the end of the Free Spins round.
If a full-Stack of Cat symbols land on reel 1 at any point in Free Spins, an additional +2 Free Spins are awarded.
If the maximum win capacity of 5,000x is reached, the Free Spins round will immediately end and all remaining Free Spins will be forfeited.
Cleocatra Bonus Buy
For those outside the UK, you may benefit from a Bonus Buy option.
The Free Spins round can be purchased for a generous 100x your current bet.
The RTP when ourchasing Free Spins remains the same at 96.20%.
Cleocatra: Our Verdict
It makes total sense to see Cats feature in an Egyptian themed slot, given how admired they were by Egyptians, but has Pragmatic Play managed to pull it off? The Egyptian part of the theme is certainly the strongest of the two, with only a handful of cat symbols and the odd ‘meow’ in the soundtrack to keep the cat portion of the theme alive.
The rather recurrent Egyptian theme may be enough to put you off, but is Gameplay worth sticking around for? The base game will be an instant hit with players, thanks to the Respin feature and Multiplier Wilds, which can deliver some pretty decent wins when it wants to.
The Free Spins round doesn’t really bring much innovation to the constantly evolving world of slots, but the Sticky Wild Multiplier feature is a timeless classic for good reason, and a fan favourite if we’ve ever seen one.
In our opinion, Cleocatra offers ample opportunity for some big wins, and we could see it being a big hit with players.
Once again though, Pragmatic has opted for a 5,000x win cap on this one. Historically we’ve bashed Pragmatic Play for their reluctance to up the ante, but we’ll at least admit that it’s an achievable and realistic value, unlike those declared by other providers.
All in all, Cleocatra seems like a dependable slot with a clever twist on a classic theme. There’s no real reason to hate Cleocatra in any sense, and there’s plenty of reasons to love it.
