Pairing up with the legends that are Hacksaw Gaming, new slot developer Backseat Gaming is back with their second release that shares similarities to Push Gaming’s Mystery Museum and Razor Shark.

Commander of Tridents Base Game and Features
Commander of Tridents is a 5-reel slot with 19 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The minimum bet available here is £.€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.28% and a max win cap of 15,000x.
In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Shark, followed by the Green Fish, Lionfish, and Clownfish. Low-paying symbols fall to the Coral, Sea Urchin, Crab Net, and Anchor. Wilds substitute for all High and Low-paying symbols.
Expanding Wild Tridents
During gameplay, each time a Trident symbol lands in view, it will expand to fill the entire reel it is currently on as long as it contributes toward at least one winning combination once expanded.
Mystery Gates
Mystery Gates can land either partially or fully in view across the reel set. Each Mystery Gate symbol will reveal either a regular High or Low-paying symbol or a Golden Chest. If a Mystery Gate symbol lands partially in view, it will nudge up or down in order to fully cover the entire reel.
If at least 3 Mystery Gate symbols land at the same time, they will open up and spin in sync with each other to reveal the same High or Low-paying symbol, creating winning combinations even if there are other non-winning symbols between them.
Once 3 or more Mystery Gates have revealed their symbols, if there is more than 1 winning combination on the same pay line, the longest winning combination will be selected. However, if the length is the same, the win formed by revealed symbols will be used.
Please note, Mystery Gate symbols cannot reveal Trident or Scatter symbols.
Poseidon’s Treasure
The Poseidon’s Treasure feature can only trigger when Mystery Gate symbols reveal a Golden Chest symbol. Once triggered, all Golden Chests will open and each position will spin to reveal either a Multiplier symbol, Gather symbol, or Bronze, Silver, and Gold Coins.
- Bronze Coins – Reveal 1x, 2x, 3x, or 5x your bet.
- Silver Coins – Reveal 10x your bet.
- Gold Coins – Reveal 100x, 250x, 500x, or 1,000x your bet.
- Multipliers – Award x2, x3, x5, or x10. This is applied to all Coin and Gather symbols.
Gather Symbols
Gather symbols will gather all the values of Coin symbols and other Gather symbols. After this, another spin will occur on each position except activated Gather symbols so that new Coins, Multiplier, or Gather symbols can land.
The Gather symbol will take on the total value of all gathered Coins and other Gather symbols. Please note that each Gather symbol cannot activate more than once.
At the end of Poseidon’s Treasure, the value of all Coin and Gather symbols will be added together and multiplied by your bet to determine the final win amount.
Commander of Tridents Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatters across the reels during the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10, 12, and 14 Free Spins respectively.
During Free Spins, all Mystery Gate symbols that land will remain sticky until the end of the bonus round. Also in play during this time is Reel Multipliers.
Each Reel Multiplier begins at 0x and can increase by 2x, 3x, 5x, and 10x when a Golden Temple symbol lands on a particular reel. Once a Reel Multiplier is longer at 0x, it is activated.
All winning combinations that occur during this time are multiplied by the values of the activated Reel Multipliers that are included in the win. If more than one active Reel Multiplier is part of a winning combination, their values will be added together and applied to the win.
Reel Multipliers are also applied to all Coin and Gather symbols that may appear during the Poseidon’s Treasure feature before the total value is summoned.
Commander of Tridents Bonus Buy

Commander of Tridents: Our Verdict
Introducing new slot developers is always a little touch and go, but we’re pleased to have taken that risk with Backseat Gaming. Looking at their first release, Lord Venom, you would assume they’ve been pumping out slot games for many years considering the slots they produce are of such good quality.
Backseat Gaming doesn’t keep us waiting for another of their titles for long, and this time we’re taken to new depths in Commander of Tridents, but was it quite a smash hit like their first release?
If anything, Commander of Tridents was an even better offering from the Gods, with features that are reminiscent of Razor Shark and Mystery Museum. Given our love for these titles, Commander of Tridents certainly had us hooked from the get-go.
Another box ticked is statistics. On a good day, Commander of Tridents can deliver wins of up to 15,000x, which is another reason why this game is worth giving a go if not anything else.
All in all, Backseat Gaming is a great addition to Hacksaw’s OpenGRS platform, and one we hope to see more of in the future!
