Dead Man’s Trail Slot Overview
Dead Man’s Trail from Relax Gaming has players living the pirate life, so get ready for some rough seas as you walk the footsteps of those that came before you in search of illustrious treasure.
The Dead Man’s Trail won’t be an easy one, but the Pirate Life must be lived in dedication to hardy adventures and unimaginable riches, so follow the map and make your move in a rather unique showing from Relax Gaming.
Relax Gaming have been excellent this year so for with their releases. Money Cart 2 brought UK players back to a game that was somewhat unviable, and Chip Spin took us to Vegas for a night to remember.
Can Dead Man’s Trail continue this trend of excellent releases? Let’s hop aboard a Galleon and set our sights to the horizon as we sail towards unimaginable treasures.
Dead Man’s Trail Slot Theme
Your very first experience with Dead Man’s Trail will be breathtaking to say the least. Relax Gaming have put a particular emphasis on graphical fidelity in this one. When you load this slot, you’ll be greeted with a very professionally animated depiction of a ship sailing on rough waters as it gets ready to fire its cannons. It doesn’t look like we’re the only pirates after this booty, so prepare to contest these riches with your life!
When you get into the slot itself, the graphics are just as stunning as the opening cutscene. The background shows us a foggy and populated port town in the tropics with triumphant ships grey skies.
The Pirate theme has certainly been done many times before. More often than not, providers like to put a more jolly twist on it with cartoon graphics to make it more humourous. Relax Gaming seem to have gone slightly dark with this one, which we love.
A rather sombre soundtrack accompanies the somewhat dreary visuals, which further adds depth to what could turn out to be a perilous adventure.
Dead Man’s Trail: Betting and Symbols
Whether you’re sailing around in a humble Sloop your you’re at the helm of a proud Man o’ war, Relax Gaming has very kind of pirate in mind in Dead Man’s Trail. The lowest betting option here is £/€0.10 per spin, and the highest option is £/€20 per spin. There are a multitude of different options in between, so Dead Man’s Trail is accessible for all.
When it comes to symbols, the highest paying symbol in the game is the rather nasty looking Pirate with the red background. Following on from him is the Older Gentleman with the Orange Background, and the last two high paying symbols are the younger up and coming Green and Blue Pirates. Low paying symbols are Ace, King, Queen, & Jack.
Dead Man’s Trail: The Base Game and Features
Dead Man’s Trail is a 5 reel slot with 40 fixed pay lines.
To form a win, you’ll need to match 3 of any symbol from left to right along any of these pay lines, starting from the left-most reel. There are some solid Base Game rewards up for grabs for connecting a full line of the higher paying symbols, but the real fun and potential of Dead Man’s Trail lies within it’s exciting features.
First up, we have the Coin Feature, which is simple in function yet effective at topping up that balance.
Coin Feature
Coin Symbols exist on all reels, and each displays a multiplier of your current bet.
Landing at least one coin symbol on three different reels will trigger the feature, and award the sum of all values present.
It’s not exactly a comprehensive feature, there aren’t any respins giving you a chance to land more for example, but it’s great at topping up that balance. Some of the coins even display high values like 75x, and if you get a few of them it would soon add up to a big win.
The Coin Feature is great, but it’s just a drop in the ocean when you compare it to the mind-boggling Trail Bonus
Trail Bonus
The Trail Bonus is triggered if 3 or more Bonus Symbols land on the reels. The Trail Bonus isn’t exactly Free Spins, but more of a Trail as the name of the bonus suggests.
In this mode, you’ll start at a certain point and a wheel will spin to determine how many spaces you move. Along the trail there are special spaces, which awards cash prizes, features or ends the bonus.
- Normal Tile – Awards a prize valued as a multiplication of your bet
- Start Tile – Triggers the Reset Special Action
- Mystery Chest – Triggers 1 of 11 Special Actions
- End Tile – Ends the bonus
As mentioned, the Mystery Chest holds Special Actions. These significantly improve the potential for the Trail Bonus to pay big
- Scout – Adds 100x – 1000x to a random Normal Tile
- One-Eye – Multiplies the value of a Normal Tile with x2 -x5, repeats 2-4 times
- Commander – Adds 3x – 5x to all Normal Tiles
- Collector – Collects the total sum of all normal Tiles to the total win
- Collect & Command – Adds the total summed value of all Normal Tiles to each normal Tile, as well as adding it to the total win
- Reset – Replaces all end Tiles with Normal Tiles
- Super Reset – Replaces alk End Tiles with temporary Mystery Chests
- Coin Win – Random Coin Win of 25x – 50x to be awarded to the total win
- Persistent Scout – Same as the Scout Symbol, but persistent at the end of every turn
- Persistent One-Eye – Works like One-Eye, but persistent at the end of every turn
- Persistent Commander – Works like Commander, but persistent at the end of every turn.
As you can see, Dead Man’s Trail has a lot to experience. It’s so diverse, that you may not experience the same type of bonus twice. So many features on offer screams potential, but the End Tiles stand in your way.
After a Normal Tile or Temporary Chest has landed, the space will then turn into an End Tile. You’ll need Resets and Super-Resets here to offset these, and if you don’t then it may well end in a rather meagre bonus.
With so much excitement in store, you might want to jump straight into the action, and you can, if you’re not in the UK that is.]
Dead Man’s Trail Bonus Buy
Dead Man’s Trail has a Bonus Buy option for those outside of the UK.
The cost of this is 100x your bet. The only difference here is the RTP. When buying the bonus, the RTP changes from 96.29% to 98.00%.
Dead Man’s Trail: Our Verdict
What a slot from Relax Gaming.
You can certainly see the influence from some of their other slots like Money Train 2 with the way some of the special symbols work, but the way they’ve presented it is totally new.
It’s an exciting feeling as you traverse around the trail collecting cash, mystery chests and all of the exciting features within them. If you do manage to avoid the perilous end spaces and upgrade a lot of the spaces, then you may well find that the dangerous Dead Man’s Trail was well worth a trip.
The win potential here is on the same level as Money Train 2, with 50,000x possible. Some providers merely state a maximum theoretical win, but we’ve certainly seen Money Train 2 go the distance before, so we’re excited to see if Dead Man’s Trail can too.
When it comes to other aspects of this slot, Dead Man’s Trail can be rather dull in the Base Game. The Coin Feature does well to keep your interested, but you’ll still be really wanting of a Bonus to see all of the real action.
Overall, Dead Man’s Trail is yet another solid instalment from the ladies and gentlemen at Relax Gaming, and perhaps one of our favourites yet.
