Dr Zappo Slot Review
Every cartoon laboratory needs a brain in a jar, and the one bubbling away in Dr Zappo’s answers to the name Mr. Brain. The place is all exposed wiring and crackling current, its owner sits several volts past sensible, and Hacksaw Gaming have drawn the whole thing in that deliberately unhinged style of theirs.
What sits underneath looks almost restrained by the studio’s standards. It’s a 5×4 grid running 14 fixed paylines, with an RTP of 96.31% and a Medium volatility rating of 3/5. A 45% hit frequency keeps the reels ticking over, stakes run from 0.10 to 100 a spin, and the ceiling is 10,000x.
Lab coats and directed energy are well-trodden ground here. Toxic Waste and Fire My Laser both got there first, and Chaos Crew 3 keeps the studio’s louder instincts in circulation. Dr Zappo looks like a fairly traditional payline slot right up until the EyeBalls start firing.
Base Game & Features
Dr Zappo runs on a 5×4 grid with 14 fixed paylines, paying left to right across adjacent reels from the leftmost reel.
There’s no scatter-pays or ways-to-win arrangement, so combinations form along the same predefined lines on every spin.
The card royals from 10 through to A each return 3x the stake for five of a kind, dropping to 1.5x for four and 0.3x for three.
The premiums split into tiers: two of them pay 6x for five of a kind, two pay 9x, and the best returns 15x.
The standard Wild matches that 15x top line and substitutes for every paying symbol.

Wild EyeBall Symbols
EyeBalls land on the fourth row only, and they never share a spin with the FS Scatters. Once one lands, it fires in one of three directions: straight up, diagonally left, or diagonally right.
Every paying symbol along that path turns Wild, and those new Wilds can carry an Additive Multiplier worth anywhere from 2x to 200x. The activated EyeBall becomes a Wild itself. Where several land together, they activate from left to right.
Additive is the word doing the work. When more than one multiplier Wild feeds the same winning combination, the values are added together first, and that total is then applied to the win.
Energy Fields
Three Energy Fields sit along the left, top and right edges of the grid. An EyeBall that reaches one bounces off at the same angle and carries on transforming symbols in its new direction.
A straight-on hit sends it back the way it came, adding multiplier values to the Wilds it created on the way out. If a travelling EyeBall strikes another EyeBall symbol, that adds a multiplier value too.
Dr Zappo Free Spins & Bonus Features
All three bonus rounds trigger from FS Scatters landing together in the base game, and all three award 10 free spins.
What changes between them is how hard the EyeBalls work once you’re inside. Retriggers behave the same throughout: two more FS symbols add two spins, three add four.

Eyeconic Bonus
Three FS Scatters open the Eyeconic Bonus, which runs 10 free spins with a raised chance of EyeBalls landing on the fourth row. Everything else works as it does in the base game.

No-Brainer Bonus
Four FS Scatters award the No-Brainer Bonus. It keeps the Eyeconic rules and adds a second trajectory, so every EyeBall that activates fires in two different directions on the same spin.
That doubles the number of paths crossing the grid on each activation, and with them the chances of reaching an Energy Field or striking a multiplier Wild that’s already there.

It’s Electrifying
Five FS Scatters trigger It’s Electrifying, the hidden top tier. It runs the No-Brainer rules across 10 free spins and guarantees at least one EyeBall on every single one of them. FS symbols can’t land during the round.
FeatureSpins & Bonus Buys
The buy menu carries four options. Two of them are FeatureSpins modes, which guarantee certain features on each spin and stay switched on until you disable them, rather than dropping you straight into a bonus round.
- Bonus Hunt FeatureSpins: 3x bet, RTP 96.3%
- ZigZag Zappo FeatureSpins: 100x bet, RTP 96.3%, with FS symbols unable to land
- Eyeconic Bonus: 50x bet, RTP 96.34%
- No-Brainer Bonus: 200x bet, RTP 96.29%

Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
The base game runs busier than you’d expect from 14 lines. Wins arrive often enough that the quiet stretches stay tolerable, and there’s always the bottom row to watch.
Eyeconic proved decent rather than special, and the bought round came in weaker than the natural one. No-Brainer is where it clicked. One EyeBall fired both ways, a bounce off an Energy Field doubled back into a multiplier Wild already sitting on the grid, and the whole system finally showed what it’s for. It’s Electrifying never appeared, which leaves a version of the game still unseen.
Fixed paylines will put off anyone holding out for grid-wide scatter pays, and 10,000x won’t satisfy the six-figure chasers. For players who enjoy watching a win assemble itself position by position, it’s worth a second session.
Not the maddest science Hacksaw have cooked up, but Dr Zappo knows where to put the voltage.
