Dragon Queen Megaways Slot Review
Defend your monarch in BGaming’s latest Megaways slot, Dragon Queen Megaways. Shes renowned for her beauty and fierceness, but whether it’s enough to make a lasting impression remains to be seen.
Megaways Slots are no new fad. They were once the hotter than dragonfire itself, and still immensely popular today, albeit less so than it has been in recent years.
BGaming are quite partial to a Megaways slot, having licensed the mechanic for a number of their own slots, including Book of Panda Megaways, Sweet Rush Megaways, and others. They seemingly have a soft spot for Megaways, despite having their own trademarked TRUEWAYS slot mechanic.
Their latest, Dragon Queen Megaways, looks fairly inviting from the offset, and even appealing if you’re not quick to proceed beyond the splash screen that offers clues that it might outperform your standard Megaways game. 200,704 ways to win? Yes please.
Dragon Queen Megaways has a respectable RTP of 96.75%, a commendable max win of 6,000x and Very High volatility. Will we rate it very high? Let’s check it out.

Base Game & Features
Dragon Queen Megaways will feel very familiar to many, thanks to the infamy of the Megaways mechanic.
Wins require at least 3 of any symbol to connect from left to right on adjacent reels, starting from the left most reel. Winning combinations pay and all winning symbols disappear, leaving room for remaining symbols to cascade into place. Winning symbols that are a part of the win in the top tracker will slide left.
This continues until no more winning combinations appear.
Wins range from 10x the bet for 6 of the higest paying symbol to 0.10x the bet for the lowest. There is a Wild symbol, which substitutes for all symbols except for Scatter symbols. This appears on reels 2-5 and the top tracker.

Dragon Queen Megaways Free Spins
3 or more scatter symbols trigger Free Spins. BGaming has chosen a wheel to determine Free Spins, so the Scatter Symbols pay instead:
- 3 Scatters – 5x Win
- 4 Scatters – 10x Win
- 5 Scatters – 20x Win
- 6+ Scatters – 50x Win
Before the round begins, a Wheel of Fortune determins a random number of Free Spins (from 5 to 15). The same wheel will also determine a starting multiplier (x2 to x25).
During Free Spins, the game may retrigger if 3 or more Scatter Symbols appear. Retriggers will make the Wheel of Fortune appear, awarding a random number of Free Spins and Multiplier once more, which are summed up with the current values.

Bonus Buy
If permissable by your local gambling authority, then you may buy the bonus.
This costs 90x the bet. The RTP for the bonus buy is identical to the main game at 96.75%
Chance X2
The Chance x2 is an ante buy, offering players an increased chance of triggering Free Spins for an increased stake contribution.
Toggling this will increase your stake by 0.5x, but double your chance of triggering Free Spins.
Our Honest Verdict
Dragon Queen Megaways shows the monarchs benevolent side, but she can also be a cold-hearted ice queen, despite her fiery reputation. The reason for this is simply the Free Spins wheel, which can bestow upon you an excellent start, or in essence, a duff bonus.
We tested it ourselves a few times, with results ranging from extremely exciting, average and downright disappointing. It reminded us of an old favourite, Safari Gold Megaways by Blueprint Gaming.
However, unlike Safari Gold Megaways, your multiplier in Dragon Queen doesn’t increment from the point of trigger. In other words, if you’re handed a weak x2 multiplier, you’re stuck with it for the whole bonus round, unless of course you retrigger the bonus, which didn’t happen too frequently for us, although testing was admittedly limited.
We’d have preferred an incrementing multiplier and perhaps as a comprimise, a lesser chance of retriggering the bonus. We must of course recognise the opposite to the problem, which is the exciting prospect of lots of spins and a huge multiplier.
If this happens, then you’re on the edge of your seat, and forget not that the maximum number of ways here isn’t your standard 117,649, but 200,704. Factors like this make Dragon Queen Megaways a potential favourite for many, but it’ll divide opinions based on individual experience.
Some will get an x2 multiplier and 5 spins and throw it swiftly on the ban list, and we would too, to be honest.
Still, it’s give and take as is the case with any slot, and we think Dragon Queen Megaways has just as many praiseworthy moments as it does frustrating ones. If we were to say but one more thing, it would be that we think the 6,000x max win could do with a bit of a boost, but commend them for a fair (if not well above average) 96.75% RTP.
