Dragon Tiger Fortunes Slot Review
A full-grown Bengal tiger stands guard at the edge of a Chinese mountain temple, staring straight out past the reels at the misty river gorge behind it. Dragon Tiger Fortunes is a quieter game than it first appears, and that’s its whole trick: the artwork promises serenity while the maths model buries every payoff behind a six-scatter trigger most sessions will never reach. What sits on the other side of that trigger is worth the wait – more so than this game’s calm exterior admits.
The Pragmatic Play release runs on a 5×3 grid with 243 ways to win, at 96.54% RTP and high volatility, with stakes from 0.20 up to 240 per spin. Sister titles like Drago Jewels of Fortune and Sleeping Dragon give you one big feature each; this one gives you a wheel with a menu behind it. The tiger, meanwhile, never moves.
Base Game & Features
The reels sit inside a temple pavilion hung with a red-and-gold valance, a deep red curtain behind them, and jade-coloured peaks fading into haze on either side. It’s a rich, glossy piece of artwork. The tiger at the right edge – half in front of the reel frame – gives the screen a stillness the maths model doesn’t share.
Wins pay across 243 ways, so any left-to-right combination of three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels counts, regardless of position on the reel. Wild symbols land on reels two, three and four. Beyond that, the base game keeps itself simple: two special symbols, the SCATTER and the WHEEL, do all the triggering work, and everything else is the paytable.
Symbol pays, as multiples of the total stake for three, four and five of a kind:
- Bonsai Tree: 0.25x / 0.75x / 3x
- Lotus Flower: 0.25x / 0.5x / 2x
- Pagoda Lantern: 0.2x / 0.25x / 1.5x
- Bracelet: 0.2x / 0.25x / 1x
- Urn: 0.1x / 0.2x / 0.5x
- A, K pay 0.1x, 0.2x, 0.25x
- Q, J return 0.1x, 0.1x, 0.25x
- 10, 9 are worth 0.05x, 0.1x, 0.2x
Those are modest top-end values, with the premium symbols paying single-digit multiples at best. The paytable isn’t where this game keeps its money – the marks, the jackpots and the wheel variants are, and six or more SCATTER symbols or three WHEEL symbols are what take you there.
Dragon Tiger Fortunes Bonus Features & Free Spins
Free Spins
Hit six or more SCATTER symbols and the free spins round begins with six free spins. Every position held by a triggering scatter is marked with a bronze dragon mark. When further scatters land on a marked position, the mark upgrades – bronze to silver, silver to gold.
Three or more scatters during the round add one free spin. That’s the whole economy of the feature: build marks, upgrade them, and stretch the round long enough for them to matter. When the spins end, every marked position reveals a random money prize based on its mark’s colour, with gold paying the most.
Wheel Bonus
Three or more WHEEL symbols, or at least two of them plus one WHEEL UPGRADE symbol, spin the wheel. It then reveals one of five awards at random:
- Tiger’s Gate – free spins built around oversized scatter blocks
- Dragon’s Call – free spins with dragons drawing the marks
- Radiant Roar – free spins where every mark is gold
- Random Jackpot – an instant jackpot
- Wheel Upgrade – a spin of the Super Wheel
Tiger’s Gate
Tiger’s Gate awards free spins with a bonus condition: if a big scatter lands – a 2×2, 3×3, 4×3 or 5×3 block, or two separate 2×2 blocks – the round also awards an additional free spin. The starting marks are based on every position the big scatter covers.
So a full-width 5×3 hit opens the round with fifteen marked positions already in play. Size, not luck, sets your starting board here.
Dragon’s Call
Here the dragons that triggered the award – the WHEEL symbols themselves – move from their positions towards the right edge of the screen, leaving marks behind them until they exit. Any dragon that passes over an existing mark upgrades it. It’s the most literal reading of the mark system: the marks are drawn by the dragons, in front of you.
Radiant Roar
The gold-mark variant. The triggering WHEEL symbols transform into gold marks before free spins begin, and for the rest of the round every SCATTER that lands immediately marks its position in gold – the highest tier, skipping bronze and silver entirely. It’s the fastest route to a screen full of top-value reveals.
Random Jackpot and Wheel Upgrade
The Random Jackpot award pays out a MINI, MINOR, MAJOR or GRAND jackpot instantly. The Wheel Upgrade doesn’t pay anything itself – it moves the game to a fresh reveal from the Super Wheel.
The Super Wheel can also be reached directly in the base game: hit two or more WHEEL symbols alongside a WHEEL UPGRADE symbol on reel five and you skip the ordinary wheel altogether. Its awards are the supercharged versions of the three free-spins variants – Super Wheel Tiger’s Gate, Dragon’s Call and Radiant Roar – or a Random Jackpot limited to MAJOR or GRAND.
All three Super Wheel free-spins variants play out on an expanded 5×6 grid, with three new rows added below the base ones, duplicating the base symbols. The maximum win is 8,200x the bet.
Bonus Buys
Both main features can be bought from the base game:
- Buy Free Spins: 50x total bet – triggers free spins with a random number of scatters, from six to fifteen, guaranteed on the triggering spin
- Buy Wheel Bonus: 100x total bet – sends the wheel spinning for one of its five awards
The scatter guarantee on the free-spins buy matters more than it looks. A natural trigger needs six scatters; the buy can hand you fifteen marked positions from spin one, which is the difference between building a board and inheriting one.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
This is a game you play for the reveal at the end, not the road there. Like the tiger standing at the temple’s edge, most of a session is stillness – modest symbol pays, quiet reels, high volatility doing what high volatility does – and the reason to sit through it is the marked-board payout, the one moment where everything you’ve built pays off at once.
The strength is the wheel’s range. Five genuinely different awards off one trigger, with the 5×6 Super Wheel variants stacked above them, means the bonus never feels like the same round twice. The weakness is everything before it: six scatters is a steep ask.
It suits patient players who enjoy a slow build and a big final reveal, and it will frustrate anyone who wants frequent features or steady base-game returns. For the right bankroll and the right temperament, the temple is worth the climb.
