Dungeons & Dragons Reel Quest Slot Review
A red-haired warrior plants her sword on a carved stone plinth, an ogre snarls back from a red-rimmed medallion across the top of the screen, and a duel track marked with tiny crossed swords runs between them. Most licence slots would leave it there and cash the theme in as wallpaper. This one doesn’t: the duel is settled by a die roll, the fight escalates as the reels spin, and the warrior you choose genuinely grows stronger the longer you stay with her.
From Crazy Tooth Studio, the team behind 777 Rainbow Respins and Lucky Clucks, it runs on a 5×5 grid with 125 ways, medium volatility and a 96.56% RTP, with stakes from 0.25 to 70.00 per spin.
Base Game & Features
Wins form through the Any Adjacent Pays system: three or more matching symbols on a payline, on adjacent reels starting from either the leftmost or the rightmost reel, count as a winning combination. Paying from both ends is a genuinely useful twist on a 125-way board, and only the highest win per payline is paid. Wins land on roughly 26.34% of spins, which keeps the base game ticking over between features.
Payouts also scale with a bet multiplier: your bet multiplier is the number of credits played divided by 0.25, so a 0.50 credit spin carries a multiplier of 2, and all payout tables show credits won at that multiplier.
The Feature Wild substitutes for all paying symbols, though it only appears during the Reel Quest feature itself. The symbol set, with payouts as multiples of stake for three, four and five of a kind:
- Blue Money Bag – 0.12x, 0.32x, 100x
- Lute – 0.08x, 0.32x, 100x
- Orange Book/Chest – 0.08x, 0.32x, 100x
- Purple Orb – 0.08x, 0.32x, 100x
- Blue Gem – 0.04x, 0.16x, 0.6x
- Yellow Gem – 0.04x, 0.16x, 0.6x
- Red Gem – 0.04x, 0.16x, 0.6x
- Green Gem – 0.04x, 0.16x, 0.6x
A handful of passive symbols round out the board without paying anything themselves: the Small Bad and Big Bad symbols trigger the Reel Quest feature, the Prize Increase Coin bumps the value of a Bonus Prize when it lands, and the Scatter sits on reels 1, 3 and 5 only.
Hero Gallery
Before anything else, you pick a Hero. Four are available, and you can switch between them whenever no game is underway using the Change Hero button. Each Hero levels up along a personal Campaign Path, capped at level nine, and levelling raises their attributes. If a Hero climbs above level one, you also gain the option to reset them back to the start.
Your choice doesn’t affect the RTP, only the shape of the features you get. The four rosters in full:
- Elf Cleric – multipliers of 3x to 10x, one to six Feature Wilds, two to five Transformation Orbs
- Dwarf Wizard – multipliers of 2x to 7x, one to five Feature Wilds, four to ten Transformation Orbs
- Tiefling Rogue – multipliers of 2x to 7x, two to eight Feature Wilds, two to six Transformation Orbs
- Dragonborn Fighter – multipliers of 5x to 10x, one to six Feature Wilds, up to five Transformation Orbs
Reel Quest Feature
This is the encounter the whole frame promises. At random on any spin, a Small Bad or Big Bad symbol can appear carrying a number, and a D20 is rolled against it. Each face of the die has a 1 in 20 chance, and the feature only fires if the roll meets or beats the symbol’s number. Beat it, and the fight is on.
Feature Wilds, Feature Multipliers and regular symbols are then added to the board, replacing whatever sits underneath. How much of each arrives is set by your Hero’s attributes: the Feature Transformation Orb counts the regular symbols, the Feature Wild Badge counts the wilds, and the Feature Multiplier Badge fixes which multiplier symbol joins the board.
- Feature Multiplier symbols – 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x and 10x, each one in a winning combination multiplying that win
- Feature Wilds – substitute for all paying symbols, never for scatters
- Big Bad Multiplier – multiplies every win evaluated during the feature by 2x or 3x
Feature wins are added to regular wins and paid at the bet multiplier of the triggering spin. Once every symbol is placed, all lines are paid and all multipliers awarded, the Hero’s Campaign Path advances, and a completed path levels the Hero up and resets.
Dungeons & Dragons Reel Quest Side Quest Bonus
Landing three Scatter symbols on the gameboard awards the Side Quest Bonus. It’s a prize round rather than a free spins round: a run of credit prizes is paid out, with a Bonus Prize on top if you collect well. Credit awards are multiplied by the bet multiplier of the triggering game, and bonus wins are added to regular wins. The stated win values come from an entire bonus session accumulated together.
Potion Fillers and Prizes
Collecting three or more Potion Filler symbols during the round awards a Bonus Prize. The colour decides which one: blue corresponds to the Minor, purple to the Major and green to the Grand.
Extra Round Flame symbols add another round to the bonus each time one lands, stretching the session further. All of these are passive symbols that don’t pay on their own, and they only appear inside the bonus.
Bonus Saving Throw
The round can retrigger. When a Bonus Saving Throw comes up, the D20 is rolled against the number shown on screen, and a successful roll adds one extra round. It’s a small piece of table-game logic carried straight into the slot, and it fits the licence better than most bolted-on bonus mechanics do.
Buy Features
Two purchase options trigger the Side Quest Bonus instantly. Neither is available at every stake level, and each carries its own return figure.
- Instant Bonus – 50x the bet, triggers the Side Quest Bonus immediately, RTP of 96.57%
- Super Bonus – 100x the bet, starts the Side Quest Bonus with five bonus rounds banked, RTP of 96.21%
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.8/10
This is a game you settle into rather than binge. Sessions are steady, wins arrive often enough to keep the fortress standing, and the real pull is the campaign itself: a Hero slowly levelling, attributes creeping up, every encounter with the ogre feeling like a step somewhere. That progression is the reason somebody picks this over a dozen other 125-way boards, and it’s the best thing here – genuinely mechanical, not cosmetic.
The weakness is the ceiling. Five of the top symbol pays just 100x, so the big money depends entirely on multiplier symbols stacking during the feature, and medium volatility means those stacks arrive on the game’s schedule, not yours.
It suits players who like a long campaign and don’t measure a slot by its single biggest hit. Chasers of four-figure ceilings will want a different dungeon. For everyone else, there’s a comfortable quest here, and the warrior’s plinth has room for one more.
