El Huaso Suertudo Slot Review
A grinning huaso waves his white handkerchief at the edge of the reels, poncho flaring, flag bunting strung across a wooden frame with the Andes behind a lake. El Huaso Suertudo takes that lakeside fiesta seriously, and it’s the rare scatter-pays game that plays gently with you while it does. Medium volatility on this engine is a genuine oddity, and it changes what a session here feels like more than any of the theme art does.
It’s a Pragmatic Play release running a 6×5 grid where symbols pay anywhere, with tumbling wins, multiplier symbols up to 500x and free spins where those multipliers accumulate. RTP is 96.50%, volatility is medium, and stakes run from 0.20 to 240 per spin.
That puts it in company with Gates of Olympus, Sugar Rush and Sweet Bonanza, though this one swaps gods and candy for a fiesta by the lake. Whether the huaso’s luck rubs off is what follows.
Base Game & Features
The grid is six reels by five rows, and there are no paylines at all. Symbols pay anywhere: what matters is how many copies of one symbol are on screen when a spin settles. Land eight or nine of a kind and it pays; land thirty and it pays a great deal more.
Thirty is the whole grid, so the top pay tier needs every single position showing the same symbol after a tumble run. That’s a rare thing by construction, and it’s why the top tier is priced so far above the rest. Position doesn’t matter at all, only count.
Wins trigger the tumble feature. Every winning symbol disappears, the remaining symbols drop to the bottom, and new ones fall in from above. Tumbling continues as long as new wins keep forming, and the whole sequence’s pays are added together once it ends.
Only the final arrangement counts. Because tumbles keep reshuffling the grid, a spin can end with far more of a symbol than it started with, which is the only route to the bigger clusters. A spin that opens with five Empanadas can still finish on twelve.
The paytable keeps the fiesta going. The Three Amigos lead it, and the run below mixes Chilean icons with street food:
- Three Amigos: 50x for 12-30, 25x for 10-11, 10x for 8-9
- Trompo (spinning top): 25x for 12-30, 10x for 10-11, 2.5x for 8-9
- Condor: 15x for 12-30, 5x for 10-11, 2x for 8-9
- Chile Flag: 12x for 12-30, 2x for 10-11, 1.5x for 8-9
- Wine Bottle: 10x for 12-30, 1.5x for 10-11, 1x for 8-9
- Hot Dog: 8x for 12-30, 1.2x for 10-11, 0.8x for 8-9
- Empanada: 5x for 12-30, 1x for 10-11, 0.5x for 8-9
- Rose: 4x for 12-30, 0.9x for 10-11, 0.4x for 8-9
- Hat: 2x for 12-30, 0.75x for 10-11, 0.25x for 8-9
The tiers are wide apart at the bottom and narrow at the top. A cluster of twelve pays five times what a cluster of eight does for every symbol on the table, while the jump from twelve to thirty is only another doubling or so for most of them. Counting clusters, not lining up symbols, is the whole skill of reading this grid.
Multiplier Symbols
Multiplier symbols can land at random during any spin or tumble, in the base game and in free spins alike. They appear as green, purple, blue and red shields, each carrying a random value from the ladder:
- 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x and 8x at the low end
- 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x and 25x through the middle
- 50x, 100x, 250x and a top value of 500x
When a tumble sequence finishes, every multiplier on screen is added together and the sequence’s total win is multiplied by that sum. A single tumble run can carry several shields at once, and their values stack rather than compete. Two 10x shields on the same sequence pay 20x on the lot, not 10x twice.
Shields don’t pay anything on their own. If a tumble sequence ends without a win, any multipliers that landed during it are simply cleared away with the rest of the screen. Their only job is to scale a win that’s already been made.
Ante Bet
Two ante options sit either side of the bonus buy. At the 25x bet multiplier, the natural chance of triggering free spins is doubled and more scatters are present on the reels, but the purchase feature is switched off. At the 20x multiplier, the buy option stays available.
That’s the whole choice: pay more per spin for a better shot at the round, or keep the stake as it is and keep the buy button. Neither option changes what the round itself does, only how you get there.
El Huaso Suertudo Free Spins & Bonuses
Four or more scatter symbols landing anywhere on screen awards the free spins round, which begins with 15 free spins played on special reels. Three or more scatters during the round add five more spins on top. There’s no stated ceiling on retriggers, so a scatter-heavy round can keep feeding itself.
The round works differently from the base game in one important way. Whenever a multiplier symbol lands as part of a winning spin, its value isn’t spent and discarded; it’s added to a running total multiplier that applies for the rest of the round.
That’s the whole engine of the bonus. A round that keeps hitting multiplier shields builds a number that every later win inherits, so a patient sequence of modest wins can end up paying far more than any of them suggested. A round that never lands the shields pays like the base game.
The order of events matters. A shield only banks its value when the spin it landed on produces a win, so a cluster of multipliers on a dead spin contributes nothing. Wins earlier in the round are multiplied by whatever the total was at the time, not by the number it eventually reaches.
Buy Free Spins
The free spins round can be bought instantly from the base game for 100x the current total bet. It’s a single flat price with no tiered options, and it’s unavailable while the 25x ante bet is switched on. Buying the round plays out on the same special reels and with the same accumulating multiplier as a natural trigger.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.6/10
Playing El Huaso Suertudo is a steady, cheerful grind rather than a white-knuckle one, and the Chilean fiesta wrapping it is the reason to pick it over its many siblings. Tumbling clusters, shields stacking onto a round-long multiplier, a huaso waving his handkerchief at every decent win – it’s comfortable company for a long session, and the medium volatility means the session usually lasts.
The free spins round is the best thing here, because the multiplier it builds never resets, so a late hot streak pays far better than the same spins would in the base game. The worst thing is that nothing else has a new idea in it: the tumbles, the ante bet and the flat 100x buy are all exactly what you’ve seen before.
It suits players who enjoy the count-the-clusters format but want it without the brutal swings, and anyone who’s tired of candy and Greek gods will find the change of scenery welcome. Players chasing a fresh mechanic won’t find one. The rest can pull up a chair by the lake; the huaso’s in a generous mood.
