Elysian Gold from ELK Studios takes the beloved Gold series to the final resting place of the heroic and virtuous in Greek Mythology. Valhall Gold, released in 2023, was meant to be the last of the series, but ELK clearly has other plans for our courageous explorer. This time, Kane finds himself under the watchful eye of the Greek Gods in an inspiring Mythology-themed aesthetic, packed with a promising max win potential of 25,000x your bet.

Base Game & Features
Elysian Gold is a highly volatile 6-reel, 4-row Video Slot with 4,096 ways to win and varying bet sizes between £.€0.20 and £.€100 per spin. Other attributes include an overall RTP of 94% and a generous max win cap of 25,000x your bet.
Wins occur when 3-6 matching symbols land from left to right, starting from reel 1. Gold frames represent the 4 high-paying symbols, while the remaining symbols fall to Greek icons and card suits (A-J). Payouts between 0.1x and 5x your bet are applied depending on the winning symbol. Other symbols available include Wilds, Bonus Scatters, Pandora’s Box, and Icarus symbols. All paytable symbols, including Wilds, can appear in sizes 1×1, 2×2, 3×3, or 4×4.
Winning combinations are removed and replaced with new symbols via an Avalanche Feature. All empty positions below a Big Symbol are filled with 1×1-sized symbols of the same kind. In addition, empty positions below an Icarus symbol are filled with 1×1 Wild symbols. After an Avalanche event, an additional row of symbols is added to the top, up to a maximum of 8 rows, thus expanding the number of ways to win. The avalanche feature continues as long as additional wins occur. A 9th row can be unlocked by landing an overflowing symbol.
Icarus Symbols
When 2 or more Icarus symbols land anywhere on the reels, it will trigger a replacement of symbols when there are no additional wins. The Icarus symbol, and all symbols directly above it, are replaced by individual instances of random paytable symbols.
In the event of an Icarus symbol passing through a Big symbol, it will be replaced by a random symbol of the same size. If an Icarus symbol is activated on the 8th row, it will add a 9th row of symbols directly above.
Pandora’s Box
Pandora’s Box will collect all winning symbols in a game round, where applicable. Bigger symbols are broken down and added to Pandora’s Box as individual 1×1 symbols. When there are no more wins, Pandora’s Box will open and fill the reels with all the winning symbols it collected.
An open Pandora’s Box does not collect any further symbols, and once empty, it is removed from the reels. The contents of the box are distributed row by row, starting with the symbol type with the largest number of instances, while the most valuable symbol is prioritised.
Split Symbols
If a paytable symbol lands with a Split Marker, all symbols of that type are split into two individual symbols. Big symbols are broken down first before being split.
Wild Forge
The blocking Wild Forge symbol fills all empty positions directly below it with Wilds after an avalanche event. This symbol locks into position once it appears on the reels.

In this round, the Safety Level advances by 1 row for every spin that results in a win. After this, each new drop begins at the current active safety level. Our Honest Verdict
Imagine our surprise when the infamous Kane made a glorious comeback. We said an emotional farewell to him in Valhall Gold and thought that his ascension into the hall of Valhalla was a fitting end for our hero. ELK Studios seemingly couldn’t help but go back on their word, and we’re glad that they did.
We’re firm believers that the Gold Series stands out as some of their best work, and we applaud it for its similarity, yet diversely different features. This particular instalment shows us The Wild Forge, which is fairly similar to features we’ve seen before, and a new one – Max Split. Splitting seems all the rage these days, as evidenced by its frequent recurrence in slots.
The standout feature is Pandora’s Box, which, in essence, is exactly the same as the ghost box in Pacific Gold. The Ghost Box was one of our favourite features, yet we confess ourselves a little disappointed that little effort was made to make Elysian Gold a unique title.
The max win is 25,000x the bet, making it vastly more capable and therefore more appealing to many.
Overall, it’s nice to see the unexpected return of the Gold Series, but it fails to stand out as a uniquely memorable one.
