Base Game & Features
Emberfall 40K is a highly volatile, Fantasy-themed release from Slotmill, consisting of 6 reels, 6 rows, and a Scatter Pays mechanic. Wins are granted when 8-16 identical symbols appear anywhere on the grid, regardless of their positions.
The highest-paying symbol represents a Male Character, followed by Swords, Axes, Shields, Helmets, & a variety of coloured Gems. When a winning combination is awarded, a fixed payout between 0.1x and 10x your bet is applied.
The Avalanche Feature triggers when a winning combination appears in view, causing all winning symbols to be removed from the grid. This creates space for new symbols to drop in from above, potentially creating additional wins in a single spin.
Progressive Multiplier & Boost
In the base game, each time an Avalanche event occurs, the Progressive Multiplier to the left of the reel set will increment to the next available step, doubling in value. The Progressive Multiplier is capped at x262,144. At the end of the spin, the current Multiplier resets for the next spin.
In addition, a special Multiplier Boost Feature has a chance of triggering at the start of each spin. Once active, the Progressive Multiplier increases by a random number of steps.
Giant Symbols
When the reel set settles, random paytable symbols may appear as Giant Symbols on the reels, in sizes 2×2, 3×3, or 4×4. The 2×2, 3×3, and 4×4 symbol sizes count as 4, 9, & 16 instances of their respective symbol.
Emberfall 40K Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatters anywhere on the base game triggers the Free Spins mode, awarding 8 Free Spins.
In this mode, the Progressive Multiplier does not reset between spins until the feature is complete. Please note that Scatter symbols are not available throughout this feature, meaning it is not possible to receive additional Free Spins.
Super Free Spins
Alternatively, landing 2 Scatters + 1 Super Scatter in the base game triggers the Super Free Spins mode, awarding 8 Super Free Spins. During this mode, a Giant symbol is guaranteed to land on every spin. Furthermore, the features from the regular Free Spins mode are carried over to this mode.

Our Honest Verdict
It’s not the first time Slotmill has felt it necessary to create a sequel to an existing release that already had so much to offer its players. The original Ragnarok release was never broken to begin with. Only Slotmill wanted to give players the chance to win an impressive 40,000x max win potential while enjoying all aspects of gameplay from the previous release.
Emberfall is the next game on Slotmill’s list to receive the ’40K’ treatment, but are there any other upgrades we can expect to see? With a giant leap in max win potential, you’re naturally going to see some changes made to the Progressive Multiplier, which can now achieve a value of x262,144 instead of x65,536 in the original release.
Due to this, each winning combination delivers a smaller payout when compared to a traditional 5-reel, pay-line slot. Each consecutive win aids in the progression of the Multiplier, but it’s only after the first 3 or 4 steps that payouts start to achieve substantial values.
Getting the Progressive Multiplier off to a good start can be difficult, particularly when consecutive wins are far and few between. Thankfully, though, the Multiplier Boost Feature can randomly jump to a higher starting Multiplier at the start of any spin for an epic boost in potential.
Things only get better in the Free Spins mode, where the Progressive Multiplier does not reset between spins. As the Progressive Multiplier climbs, so too does the suspense of each spin. Due to this, the 40,000x max win potential always feels within grasp. In the Super Free Spins mode, a Giant symbol is guaranteed to land in every spin.
All in all, Emberfall 40K is another job well done for Slotmill, who has consistently impressed us with each new release through innovative features, engaging mechanics, & high-quality aesthetics.
