Fire Gnomes 2: Magic Wheel Slot Review
Two red-bearded gnomes swing in on ropes from the top corners of the screen, one in a purple wizard hat, the other with a broom slung behind him, and below them the reels hang from a timber-and-rope gantry in a twilight forest of glowing toadstools. Fire Gnomes 2: Magic Wheel is a slot where almost nothing pays directly, because nearly every symbol on the board is busy feeding something else instead.
Crazy Tooth Studio runs it on a 4×5 grid with 95 paylines, a 96.28% RTP (96.24% with the Instant Bonus, 96.27% with the Super Bonus) and medium-high volatility, with stakes from 0.15 to 105.00. It sits alongside Lucky Clucks 2: Rooster Respins and Rhino Rilla Rex in the studio’s colourful stable. The forest, at least, never sits still.
Base Game & Features
Four reels, five rows and 95 active lines. Wins need three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left, and only the highest combination per line pays. Your bet multiplier is the stake divided by 0.15, so a 0.30 spin carries a multiplier of two, and every credit award scales with it.
Symbols and Pays
At the minimum 0.15 stake, the paying symbols break down like this:
- Blue Mushroom, Purple Mushroom, Orange Gem and Green Gem – 0.20 for three, 0.50 for four
- Blue Spade, Purple Diamond, Fire Heart and Green Club – 0.10 for three, 0.30 for four
Those regular symbols only appear in the base game, and the gap between the two tiers is narrow. The real money in Fire Gnomes 2 arrives through the feature awards, not the paytable.
The wild substitutes for all paying symbols, never for scatters or feature activation symbols, and it sits out the bonus round entirely.
Scatters and Activation Symbols
Scatters land on reels one and four only. Two of them anywhere on the board award the Magic Wheel Bonus. Simple as that.
Feature activation symbols land on reels two and three. They don’t pay, but one or more of them anywhere on the gameboard can set off the Magic Wheel Feature. That’s a low bar for a trigger, and it’s what keeps the sides of the reels in constant motion.
Build-Up Symbols
Barrel build-up symbols land on reels one and four, and each one raises the feature awards displayed along the sides of the gameboard. The coin build-up symbol lands on reels two and three and raises the silver and gold prizes sitting on the Magic Wheel above the reels. Neither pays on its own. Both are quietly doing the real work.
The Magic Wheel Feature
Landing one or more feature activation symbols can trigger the feature, which activates one or more of the awards built up along the sides and on the wheel:
- Added wilds – transforms one or more symbols into wilds
- Added wild multipliers – transforms symbols into wilds carrying a 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x multiplier on any win they form part of
- Silver prize and gold prize – awards the prize amounts currently built on the wheel
- 2x, 3x and 4x wheel multipliers – multiply all wins for that game by the stated amount
- Instant Bonus symbol – awards the Magic Wheel Bonus outright
Wild multipliers only exist inside this feature, and credit awards are multiplied by the bet multiplier of the triggering spin. Feature wins are added to regular wins, so a triggering spin can pay twice over: once through the awards, once through the lines.
Once the final award resolves, the board is evaluated for standard wins and play carries on.
The Fire Gnomes 2: Magic Wheel Bonus
Two scatters award the main event. The gameboard repopulates with credit values and special bonus symbols, a Bonus Magic Wheel fills with its own set of symbols, and five bonus spins begin. The bonus bet multiplier is locked to the spin that triggered it, so everything the round pays scales with the stake you were holding.
On each spin, one or more multipliers land on the gameboard, and each one activates the credit value or special symbol it lands on:
- Credit values are multiplied by the multiplier that activated them
- Credit boost symbols raise every activated credit on the board by the boost value times the activating multiplier
- Row and column symbols activate the rest of their row or column at the activating multiplier
- Orthogonal symbols activate the positions directly left, right, above and below them
Each special symbol can only fire once per landed multiplier, so placement compounds. Once all the landed multipliers resolve, the Bonus Magic Wheel spins and awards a bonus wheel symbol, which lands on the board and doubles the value where it sits.
The wheel symbols reach further than the board ones:
- Wheel row and wheel column – double every other position in the landed row or column
- Barrel bomb – doubles all eight positions surrounding the landing spot
- Magic staff – doubles three to six random positions
- Wheel orthogonal – doubles the four neighbouring positions
After the fifth round, the wheel repopulates with retrigger symbols and spins again. Every retrigger that lands adds one bonus spin to the total, extending a board that’s already been boosted, doubled and boosted again.
Each gameboard position is capped at a maximum credit value, and that cap is the effective ceiling on any single position once every multiplication and boost has landed. The stated win amounts come from the cumulative total of a whole bonus spins session, not one lucky cell.
Bonus Buy
There are two ways to skip the wait:
- Instant Bonus – 60x the bet, triggering the Magic Wheel Bonus directly
- Super Bonus – 100x the bet, with a guaranteed retrigger for six total bonus rounds
Neither buy is offered once your stake climbs past a certain point. At 100x for a guaranteed extra round, the Super Bonus is the sharper of the two prices, since retriggers are otherwise left to the wheel’s final spin.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.8/10
This is a game of tending, not collecting. You stack barrels and coins while the gnomes grin from the ropes, watching side awards and wheel prizes grow, and the reason to choose it is that build: the round you finally trigger isn’t the one you started with. If you’d rather just spin for line wins, there’s very little here for you.
The bonus is the strongest part, and not just because it’s loud. Retriggers extend a board that’s already been doubled once, so a good session compounds instead of resetting. That’s also the weakness: the paytable underneath is thin, four-of-a-kind pays a fraction of your stake, and every meaningful result has to come through the features. Dry patches between scatters feel long, and there’s nothing on the lines to soften them.
It suits patient players who like watching systems accumulate on a busy board, in the same way its gnomes like a slow swing on a rope. Anyone chasing frequent line hits should keep walking through the mushroom forest.
