Florageddon! DuoMax Slot Review
A dead traffic light hangs over a cracked zebra crossing, an abandoned taxi sinks under the vines, and neon leaks through the leaves of a city the plants have taken. Florageddon! DuoMax makes direction matter more than almost any both-ways slot: which end a win starts from decides which multiplier it collects, and a win that reads from both ends collects both.
The plants are only the dressing, though. Wins pay left to right and right to left across a 5×3 grid with 243 paylines, and each direction runs its own multiplier carousel. Yggdrasil worked this format out in Multifly and Raptor Doublemax; here it carries a 10,632x ceiling on 96% RTP and high volatility, with bets from 0.20 to 100 per spin.
Base Game & Features
Wins form when an identical symbol lands on three or more consecutive reels, counting from either the leftmost or the rightmost reel. Both directions pay, and a combination that reads both ways collects from each side. It’s a 5×3 grid with four meter bars sitting above the reels, each one tracking dropdown progress.
Every win triggers a dropdown. Winning symbols vanish, a Wild drops into one of the emptied positions, and fresh symbols fall in to fill the rest. If new wins form, the process repeats, and each dropdown adds another Wild to the reels. A single spin can therefore chain several dropdowns together, with the grid getting wilder and the multipliers climbing the longer the chain runs.
The wild substitutes for all regular symbols, and that’s its whole job: it appears in the base game and in free spins, feeding chains rather than paying on its own line. It doesn’t substitute for the BONUS symbol, which also appears on the reels during play.
Multiplier Carousels
Two multiplier counters flank the reels. The left one applies to left-to-right wins, the right one to right-to-left wins, and a both-ways win is paid using the two values combined. Every dropdown win raises the multiplier on its own side, or both sides for a both-ways win.
That sum matters most on five-of-a-kind wins, which read from both ends and collect the combined total. In the base game the counters reset after any losing dropdown. One dead drop takes the whole chain back to the start.
Special Rewards
The meters above the reels count consecutive winning dropdowns. Four in a row in the base game fills a meter and produces a random Special Reward on the next dropdown:
- Double Wild – two Wilds fill empty positions instead of one
- Multiplier Boost – 10x is added to both multiplier carousels
- Wild Stack – six Wilds land on one reel, three visible and three stacked above to drop in as winners clear
- Extra Life – a non-winning dropdown is cleared entirely and a fresh set of symbols falls in
Which reward arrives is random, so a filled meter can bail out a dying chain with an Extra Life or supercharge a live one with a Multiplier Boost. The reward fires on the dropdown straight after the meter fills, not on a later spin.
Symbols and Pays
Four high symbols are the carnivorous plants, four mid symbols are street objects, and four low symbols are card ranks. Values below are wins at the default bet of two, shown as five / four / three of a kind:
- Top plant: 5 / 2 / 0.80
- Second plant: 2 / 1.25 / 0.50
- Third plant: 1.25 / 0.80 / 0.30
- Fourth plant: 1 / 0.60 / 0.30
- Mid street symbols: 0.80, 0.80, 0.80 and 0.50 for five; 0.50, 0.50, 0.50 and 0.30 for four; 0.25, 0.25, 0.25 and 0.10 for three
- Card ranks: 0.60, 0.60, 0.50 and 0.50 for five; 0.40, 0.40, 0.30 and 0.30 for four; 0.20, 0.20, 0.10 and 0.10 for three
Only the highest winning combination per line is paid, and a line starting with three wilds pays its best interpretation. Free Spin symbols don’t need a payline; three or more anywhere in the base game triggers the bonus.
Florageddon! DuoMax Free Spins & Buy Bonus
Landing three, four or five Free Spin symbols awards 7, 9 or 11 free spins respectively. The round opens with x1 on both multiplier carousels, and the counters don’t reset for the entire session. Every dropdown win keeps raising them, so a long chain in free spins is where the ceiling lives.
The Special Reward meters get kinder here too. Three consecutive dropdowns fills a meter instead of four, and progress carries between spins rather than resetting. A meter left half-full at the end of one spin is already partway there on the next. Free spins can’t be retriggered, and the round plays at the bet of the activating spin.
Free Spins Gamble
On entry, there’s a chance to gamble the awarded spins upward, from seven to a maximum of 16 free spins. Sixteen is only reachable by gambling from an 11-spin award, and the gamble isn’t offered at all once you’re sitting on the full count. Lose the gamble and you play the round you brought in with.
Golden Bet and Buy Bonus
The Golden Bet adds half of the stake again per spin and cuts the Special Reward requirement from four dropdowns to three. It’s a straighter road to the features, at a price per spin. Turned off, the requirement goes back to four.
Two buy options are on the menu, both with a free choice of bet size:
- Buy Bonus – 100x the chosen bet, awarding 3, 4 or 5 scatters for 7, 9 or 11 free spins
- Super Buy Bonus – 400x the chosen bet for a round of the full 16
The regular buy still leaves the scatter count to chance, so a 100x purchase can open on the minimum seven spins. The Super buy removes that variance and starts at the cap.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Sessions here are long silences broken by chains. One winning drop pulls a Wild onto the grid, the next lifts a multiplier, and a live chain can snowball until the plants look genuinely dangerous. That build is the whole reason to pick this one, and the ruined-city artwork gives the quiet stretches something worth looking at.
The free spins round is the strongest thing in the game. With the counters locked for the whole session, a good round keeps every win it earns, which is the only place the 10,632x ceiling becomes believable. The base game is the weak half: most chains die young and leave nothing behind, so the quiet spells run long at this volatility.
It’s a fit for players who like dropdown games and don’t mind waiting out the quiet, and the horror styling makes it an easy pick for the spooky season. Chasers of frequent small hits get nothing here. This one rewards patience, and the garden only blooms for players who bring it.
